Episode 3: My Death / My System
SNIP!! SNAP!!
Kilr could not hide the sigh he heaved from his lungs as his bag handle cut off from being bit by the zombie.
"S**t!"
He could feel it's rotten breath warming his neck, the smell of it made him want to puke out. It's caramel coloured teeth reached his neck.
CHOMP!
Kilr evaded it just barely and grabbed the zombie by the neck who he recognized to be the maths teacher. With all his strength he threw the zombie for the glass window pane.
"Probability this!! Mr. Crocker!!"
CRACK!! CRASH!! CLATTER!!
The smooth glass window became fragmented shimmers of white as the maths teacher- now zombie went through it.
THUD!!
They were three stories high, that should have been enough to kill it.
"Whew!"
The feeling of having commited murder was not any daunting to him. Instead it made him feel exhilarated.
Questions like where did they come from? Is this an infection like in the movies? Is everywhere just like this? Or maybe a bio attack? Was the school one of their first targets?
"All these half assed movie theories should just bite the dust!! I'm on a roll right now!!" He thought.
"Huff!! Huff!!"
PUSH!! CLANG!!
"Nice one Kilr but we hafta get outta here!!" Ryod gave him a thumbs up.
Kilr said nothing and held a deadpan look on his face.
Ryod managed managed to tie up his wound with his school tie. Together with the help of Amber the vice class head they all moved towards the exit avoiding every zombie on the way before they clawed at them.
BHAM!!
Kilr kicked the door open, and took the lead since he was the one most keen on not dying. He had just found a new meaning to life, even if it was messed up as it was.
Down the hall was… A BLOODBATH!
The halls were painted red like a wall art done by a narcissistic butcher. The intestines of many students were sticking out of the lockers. The sight of it was jarring.
Kilr made sure to lock the door before scanning both sides of the hall. There were arms and legs sprawled on the ground making it sticky with blood. Out of the twelve there more than half barfed out their breakfast.
"You see it too right?"
The aroma of her fruit based perfume filled his lungs making him want to puke. It took all his will power to keep it in. Even butchered body parts did not make him this way, Kilr wanted to protest. On noticing it was Amber Bread the vice head of class 2-A, Kilr said nothing. He always found the bossy girl to be a handful even more than Ryod.
Ryod was the first to state the fact that something had rampaged through the halls.
Kilr who had slept during class earlier asked how things had escalated. Amber explained that a few teachers ran into the room all bloody and bitten. They claimed they had seen- A MONSTER!
Kilr held his backpack by the only intact handle and strode down the hall without an hint of fear showing on his demeanor.
His Nike shoes tapped on the puddle of blood as he progressed further. "Why are there no zombies in the hallway?" He asked.
"Seems like they were all killed! That's the most probable assumption at this juncture."
He turned to see Amber gaining on him, he could not tell why she was tailing him but it was deeply annoying.
"If you thought I would put the lives of Class 2-A in the hands of a slacker like you, keep dreaming!"
Amber looked pretty much like a glam queen. She had long red hair, red eyes. A perfect body shape with the right curve angles. And big b**bs.
For some reason Kilr had always noticed her to have an eye on him.
"Two words lady!"
He waved his middle finger in her face.
"F**k Off!!"
He got to the end of the hall and pressed his body on it. He wasn't any good at stealth except for his online game records. His alias was, Blood Of The Moon.
He peeked over the corner and saw…
"S**t!"
Amber went on all fours and peeked.
"Ee--!!"
Kilr clamped his hand over her mouth just in time. Hopefully the zombie did not notice anything.
It was indeed a MONSTER!!
"The f**k is that?"
He whispered softly.
Over the side was a zombie the size of a giant, completely naked. It's bones and ribs popped out of it's body like spikes. It's body heavily built like a cross between a steel tank and a terminator.
"Isn't that gym coach Terrance?!"
"Has he been juking up?!"
Amber rolled her eyes and gestured to the huge pile of dead zombies the gym coach zombie tore through.
"Cannibalism?" Amber muttered. "Didn't he pandemic just begin? Or is it their own recessive nature?"
Kilr scoffed.
"What the hell do I care? As long as it doesn't kill m--?!"
CLANG!! CLANG!! CLANG!!
The sound echoed down the hall.
"Growl!" The zombie did a 180° head turned to them. In that moment their hearts jumped.
"S**t!" He cursed as he watched his power bank roll on the floor. It had slipped out when he was leaning over.
Amber cursed him and ran back to the others just as the huge zombie gave chase to them but Kilr had to save his power bank if he was to win his upcoming online match.
"Ngh!"
He grabbed his power bank and raced down the hall to the others. The huge zombie was gaining on him. Times like this he wished he had actually participated in gym activities but this was the gym teacher after him-- the OG of school sports. Could he really outrun him?
"Wait!! What?!" He had thought they were waiting for him at the entrance to the laundry room but the moment he reached them…
SLAM!!
Amber Bread shut the door before him. Her eyes held a ghastly glow to him as she closed the shutters.
A look of pain and helplessness washed over the face of the number one slacker in Rising Star Academy. His body reverberated with fear and his heart palpitated. Whatever thrill he was feeling earlier had ceased to exist, only death knocked at his door.
"Just when I thought my life had been giving a new meaning!"
His legs kept running and his lungs screamed out within him. The huge zombies eyes flashed a red glow as it bore down its fangs down on him and bit off his left hand.
SQUIRT!!
Blood gushed out from it like a fountain. His eyes were white and squinting with fear as he fell from shock.
"Come to think of it, didn't I wish to die?" He thought.
THUD!!
His face met with the hard floor. A pool of blood left him drenching him in it.
"But… I don't want to die just yet!" He thought.
As he eyes grew dim he clinged to what little hope he had left to live for.
"Nerrisa!" He whizzed out his sister's name and squirmed in pain.
Kilr could hear the panting over him, tears rolled down the side of his face.
"I don't want to die!"
Kilr moved with his leg and pushed forward muttering those words in repetition.
The zombie drive a long spiky claw through his chest area and raised him in the air to drink down the blood that leaked from there.
"W- why is it me?" He cried. "I don't wa-- to--"
The zombie dropped him hard against the ground and smashed his head open.
As his final moments dawned on him he thought he might have been hallucinating because a notification popped up before him.
The ash box said:
----------------------------
------------------
"What the hell?"
"Did playing way too many games make me see an interface before I pass on?"
"I'm so helpless, aren't I?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Huh?" He thought. "A game interface? Wished it was COD though!"
A box popped up before him with dozens of occupations like hunter, swordsman, mage, knight. But whenever he chose one it always said:
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------
------------------------------------------------
An occupation lit up before him, it was the only one not painted red. Rather it glowed a silvery white.
"Is this the only available occupation?" He thought.
"Damnit! What a rip-off game!"
----------------------------------
----------------------
"Screw it!!"
Did Kilr really want to go on living?
No!
Did Kilr want to die?
"I…"
"I…"
Tears welled up in his eyes. Kilr was sprawled down in a pitiful state.
"I want…"
"I WANT TO LIVE DAMNIT!!!"
-------------------------
-------------------
"Fuck!!"
