Chapter 3 - Shopping and Stockpiling

Zhang Yi's attitude towards Fang Yuqing was extremely cold.

Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin also sensed that something was wrong. However, after mistakenly thinking that Zhang Yi was an invisible second-generation rich, the two not only didn't get angry because of Zhang Yi's attitude but instead took the initiative to approach.

So what if a rich person has a bit of an attitude? That's called having class!

"Hey, Zhang Yi, were you just having a meal at this restaurant?" Lin Cainin asked casually.

Zhang Yi furrowed his brows slightly. This woman wasn't any good either, just like Fang Yuqing. She had a share in poisoning him and causing his death.

"Yeah," Zhang Yi replied coldly, then with his hands in his pockets, he turned and walked towards the supermarket.

Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin hurried to catch up.

"Zhang Yi, where are you going?" Fang Yuqing asked with a gentle smile.

"To the supermarket," Zhang Yi's voice remained cold, tinged with impatience. If it weren't for wanting her to experience the despair of the apocalypse, Zhang Yi would have killed her on the spot.

Fang Yuqing glanced at Lin Cainin and quickly said, "What a coincidence, we're also going to buy some things. It just so happens to be on the way!"

Zhang Yi understood now. They must have seen him dining lavishly at the Michelin-starred restaurant and mistakenly thought he was some invisible rich second-generation, hence their sudden warmth towards him.

He couldn't be bothered to explain anything to them and headed straight for the supermarket.

But the more he acted this way, the more Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin thought he was a rich second-generation. Otherwise, why would he be so extravagant?

The two followed beside Zhang Yi, with Fang Yuqing even walking next to him, sometimes deliberately reaching out to touch him. When Zhang Yi looked at her, she would shyly turn her head away, her face blushing as if she were very coy.

Zhang Yi sneered inwardly. What a skillful green tea bitch! If she went into acting, she'd definitely win an Oscar for Best Actress.

Zhang Yi entered the supermarket, grabbed a shopping cart, and began to fill it with various items from the shelves. In his previous life, he had experienced the feeling of living on instant noodles for two days. So, when it came to food, he had an infinite desire.

He directly walked to the shelves and indiscriminately placed items into the cart—sausages, instant noodles, self-heating hot pots, seasonings, he purchased them in bulk.

This move stunned Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin.

"Zhang Yi, why are you buying so much food? Are you going camping?" Fang Yuqing asked.

"Yeah," Zhang Yi replied indifferently.

Lin Cainin became suspicious and whispered to Fang Yuqing, "Do rich second generations eat this stuff when camping?"

Fang Yuqing was also puzzled, but thinking of the Michelin-starred meal, she didn't want to give up the idea that Zhang Yi was a rich second-generation.

She ran up to Zhang Yi, smiling sweetly, "Need any help?"

With free labor at hand, Zhang Yi had no reason not to accept. And seeing Fang Yuqing's pretended innocence, he had an idea for revenge.

He still had a month to prepare for the apocalypse. Wanting to create a perfect shelter to ensure his safety was not difficult. As for living supplies, he could still obtain them from Walmart's warehouse.

Why not intentionally reveal to Fang Yuqing that he had stored a certain amount of supplies and let her come begging to him later?

As for whether Fang Yuqing would leak his information and attract the attacks of those bastards in the neighborhood, that was easy to handle. As long as his safe house was sturdy enough, he wouldn't have to worry about being besieged. Instead, he could effectively counter-attack those bastards!

The thought of their frustrated faces while being powerless made Zhang Yi's smile somewhat twisted.

Yes, this was indeed an option worth considering.

Zhang Yi planned to find a security company to build such a safe house.

If it worked, he would use this plan. If not, he could always find a remote wilderness in the city to build an underground shelter.

It was good to be prepared on both fronts.

Zhang Yi's lips curled slightly. "Then help me push the cart!"

Fang Yuqing nodded eagerly.

Zhang Yi also asked Lin Cainin to push a cart. Although both women were full of suspicion, they still obeyed his orders.

Zhang Yi bought a lot of perishable foods, including instant noodles, sausages, and some preserved meat and canned goods. He also used a cart specifically for fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and some live fish.

He wanted to test whether his alternate space had any special effects on storing fresh food.

The three carts were full, and Zhang Yi specially entrusted the two women with the cart filled with beef and lamb, and canned goods. It must have weighed four or five hundred pounds, which exhausted them, leaving them sweaty.

Fang Yuqing complained, pouting, "Zhang Yi, why did you buy so much? How many people are you feeding? Are you having an event and not telling me?"

What Zhang Yi said was all true, but it was impossible for anyone to believe. This was confirmed by a Dr. Li.

Fang Yuqing thought Zhang Yi was joking and laughed, "Oh, forget it if you don't want to say! But remember, you have to treat me to a meal later for helping you out!"

Her eyes were full of implication. She was hoping Zhang Yi would take her to dine at the Michelin-starred restaurant.

Zhang Yi's lips curled slightly, "Sure, but I'm pretty busy lately and don't have much time. How about next month?"

"Deal!" Fang Yuqing happily agreed.

Lin Cainin quickly joined in, "Great, let's do it together!"

Just by helping to push a cart, they could get a lavish meal. Naturally, Lin Cainin was very happy.

Seeing Lin Cainin's lack of foresight, Fang Yuqing glared at her, but Lin Cainin pretended not to notice.

After Zhang Yi paid for the items, the total purchase amounted to more than ten thousand yuan. He didn't even bat an eye when paying. In the apocalypse, the value of these items would increase tens of thousands of times! They could even be considered priceless because no matter how much money you had, you might not be able to buy a bite to eat.

Since Zhang Yi bought so much, the supermarket readily lent him the shopping cart. Zhang Yi took advantage of the two women's labor and had them help push the goods home.

Although they complained of tiredness, Zhang Yi promised to treat them to a big meal afterward, which immediately boosted their spirits.

Thus, the three of them pushed three carts full of supplies back to the residential area.
