Su Wanxia looked at her mother with suspicion; she always felt there was a deeper meaning to her words, yet she couldn't pinpoint what it meant.
"Mom? Are you hiding something from me?" she asked jokingly, staring into her mother's eyes.
"Hehe, no, what could I possibly hide from you?" her mother gently ruffled her hair with her hand.
"Really, nothing?"
"Nothing."
"Alright, if there's nothing, there's nothing."
"You child, really," her mother said helplessly.
When Su's father came home at noon, and saw Su Wanxia at home, he immediately put on a stern face.
Su Wanxia chuckled twice and eagerly helped her father with his coat, "Dad, you're back."
Her father grunted indignantly, as if speaking for her to hear or just muttering to himself, "It's really true that daughters don't stay by your side once they're grown; once they have a partner, we parents have to step aside."
"Dad, what are you talking about!" Su Wanxia said, embarrassed as she clung to her father's arm.
