Chapter 10 - Oracale

The next day-

I wanted to learn more about Astral magic and the mysteries surrounding it. I went back to the ancient room to train with Seraphina.

The ancient room, bathed in the soft glow of the pendant around my neck, felt like a sanctuary. Seraphina's astral figure stood before me, her presence emanating wisdom and power.

"Now, Magnus," she began, her voice echoing in the mystical chamber, "to master the art of Astral Projection, you must attune your mind to the energies of the Aether. Focus on the connection between your physical and astral self. It's a delicate balance, like weaving threads of magic."

Determined, I closed my eyes, channeling the knowledge Seraphina had shared. In a seamless motion, I felt a weightlessness, a subtle shift in the room around me. I was standing in the Astral realm once more. Astonishingly, on my first try, I had harnessed the power of Astral Projection.

Seraphina's astral form smiled, "Impressive, Magnus. Your connection to the mana is stronger than I anticipated. Now, let's delve into the significance of your newfound abilities."

As I stood in awe of my achievement, Seraphina guided me through the astral plane, explaining the intricacies of manipulating the environment and creating illusions. Her instructions were clear, and I felt the power within me grow.

"You have a natural affinity for this magic, Magnus," she remarked. "Your ability to grasp these concepts so swiftly is remarkable. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. Astral Projection is not just a tool for exploration; it can shape the very fabric of reality."

As Seraphina continued to guide me through the astral plane, I was shocked by the beauty before me. The landscape was vast and ethereal, with shimmering lights that danced like celestial fireflies. Seraphina's astral form glided effortlessly, her every movement a testament to her mastery of Astral Projection.

"In your hands, Magnus lies the ability to mold perceptions, create illusions, and traverse the unseen realms," she explained. "But before we delve deeper, do you have any questions?"

I hesitated, then asked, "What exactly is astral magic, and how does it connect to the mana?"

Seraphina paused, considering her words. "Astral magic is an ancient and potent form of mystic art that taps into the energies of the mana, the metaphysical realm that interconnects all things. It allows practitioners to project their consciousness beyond the confines of their physical bodies, entering the astral plane."

She continued, "The Mana is a reservoir of magical energy, a source from which all magic emanates. When you attune your mind to its frequencies, you gain access to a vast wellspring of power. Astral Projection, in essence, is the manifestation of your consciousness in the ethereal realm while your physical body remains here."

As I absorbed this knowledge, Seraphina emphasized, "Astral magic, like any formidable force, comes with responsibilities. It is not to be wielded recklessly. By understanding the threads weaving through the mana, you can shape reality, alter perceptions, and even peer into the hidden recesses of existence."

As we went deeper into the realm, I couldn't help but ponder the practical applications of astral magic, particularly in combat. Sensing my thoughts, she turned to me with a knowing smile.

"In battles, Magnus, astral magic becomes a formidable ally," she began. "The ability to project your consciousness into the Astral realm while your physical body remains protected allows for unparalleled strategic advantages. You can observe the battlefield from different perspectives, anticipate your opponent's moves, and create illusions to confound them."

She gestured, and suddenly, an illusion of a fearsome dragon materialized before us. "This, for instance, is a basic illusion," Seraphina explained. "In a fight, you can manifest illusions to distract, disorient, or even strike fear into the hearts of your adversaries. The mind is a powerful battlefield, Magnus, and astral magic lets you wield that power."

Excitement welled up within me as I envisioned the possibilities. "But what about direct combat?" I asked.

Seraphina nodded. "Ah, that's where the true artistry lies. Your astral form can interact with the physical realm in subtle ways. You can manipulate the environment, create barriers, or even enhance attacks by channeling astral energy into them. It's a dance between the seen and the unseen, a symphony of magic and martial prowess."

"But be cautious," she warned. "While astral magic grants you incredible advantages, it also demands focus and control. Reckless use can leave you vulnerable, and in the heat of battle, maintaining that delicate balance becomes crucial."

Then all of a sudden, Seraphina's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Would you care for a mock battle, Magnus? A chance to test your newfound abilities."

Without hesitation, I agreed, eager to put my skills to the test. The Astral realm transformed, and we found ourselves in a simulated arena, a manifestation of Seraphina's magical prowess. She conjured a shimmering barrier between us, and the air crackled with anticipation.

The duel began, and I marveled at Seraphina's graceful movements. Her astral form danced through the battlefield, manipulating the environment effortlessly. I focused on maintaining control, recalling Seraphina's guidance on creating barriers and enhancing attacks.

As the battle continued, Seraphina's experience shone through. She anticipated my moves, weaving through my attacks with uncanny precision. Despite my best efforts, she gained the upper hand, gradually pushing me back.

However, I unleashed a sequence of maneuvers she didn't anticipate. I created illusions to obscure her vision, then channeled Astral energy into a swift, unexpected strike. Seraphina, momentarily caught off guard, acknowledged my progress with a nod.

"Well done, Magnus," she praised. "Your instincts are sharp, and your adaptability is commendable. Astral magic is a dance of surprises, and you've certainly shown that flair."

The mock battle concluded, and I returned to the mystical chamber. I stood there, catching my breath.

Suddenly, Elisa, my maid, entered the room with a sense of urgency. "Master Magnus," she said, her tone respectful yet hurried, "the Duke has requested your presence in his office. Your mother is already there."

Curiosity and a touch of apprehension stirred within me. I nodded to Elisa, acknowledging the summons. With a glance at Seraphina, who gave me an encouraging smile, I followed Elisa to my father's office.

Inside, my father sat behind a sturdy oak desk. He looked serious. My mother, elegant and composed, stood beside him. I greeted them respectfully, "Father, Mother, you wanted to see me?"

He gestured for me to take a seat. "Magnus," he began, "recent events have brought to light certain concerns. The Oracle has spoken, and her words echo in the halls of fate."

He took a deep breath before addressing my question. He reached for a carefully sealed parchment on his desk, its royal emblem unmistakable. Breaking the seal, he unfolded the paper and began to read the prophecy aloud:

"In the tapestry of time, where threads of destiny are woven, a shadow emerges from the Astral realms. An Astral Mage, born under the star of celestial alignment, shall tread the path between realms. With powers, this mage will hold the key to salvation and doom.

In the hour of reckoning, the Astral Mage's choices shall shape the fate of Eldoria. A kingdom stands at the crossroads, and the prophecy foretells either an era of unification or the descent into chaos. Heed the whispers of the Oracle, for the destiny of Eldoria rests on the shoulders of the one who walks the Astral path."

As my father concluded the reading, a heavy silence hung in the air.

I was stunned by this revelation. I asked, "Dad, what is happening?"

My dad replied, "Magnus, the Oracle's prophecy is ancient, and its interpretation has always been the problem."

My mother added, "The Astral Mage mentioned in the prophecy is believed to hold great power, capable of influencing the destiny of Eldoria. But it also warns of potential doom and chaos. The nobles are divided, and some factions are growing uneasy."

Duke Thaddeus sighed, "Magnus, it pains me to say this, but there are noble factions who believe that the Astral Mage described in the prophecy poses a threat to Eldoria. They are considering extreme measures, including eliminating anyone who might fit the description."

I was taken aback. "You mean they want to... kill the Astral Mage?" The words felt heavy on my tongue.

My mother nodded gravely. "Yes, Magnus. The fear of the unknown has stirred a sense of paranoia among certain factions. They believe it's the only way to safeguard the kingdom. But your father and I want to protect you."

I couldn't contain my anger. "Hide? You want me to hide from the world because of some ancient prophecy? That's absurd! I won't let them dictate my life based on a vague prediction."

My father tried to calm me, "Magnus, it's not that simple. The nobles are powerful, and we need time to understand the situation better. Hiding temporarily might be the safest option until we find a solution."

I argued vehemently, "I won't be a prisoner in my own home! If they have a problem, I'll prove them wrong. I'll use my Astral magic for the good of Eldoria!"

My father said, "Magnus, it's not just about the nobles. Evil people want your power, and the prophecy has stirred the attention of those with evil intent. We couldn't trust the Royal Family entirely. For now, hiding might be the only way to keep you safe until we can untangle the threads of this prophecy."

My mother added, "We are not suggesting you abandon your convictions, Magnus. We also want you to use your Astral magic for the good of Eldoria, but it's essential to do so wisely and cautiously. Some forces would exploit your abilities, and we need time to figure out who we can trust."

Reluctantly, I nodded, realizing the gravity of the situation. I left the office in a hurry and ran to my room. I thought, Why must it be me? I wanted to enjoy life with this new power, but people are after me. I don't want to go against my parents.

In my room, I found Seraphina's astral form awaiting my arrival. Her eyes reflected understanding as I sank onto a chair, frustrated and conflicted.

"Seraphina, what am I supposed to do?" I voiced my inner turmoil.

She responded with a calm assurance, "Magnus, the Astral realm holds mysteries beyond the prophecy. This is not just a burden but an opportunity. While you may need to conceal your true nature for now, you can still explore the astral plane, strengthen your abilities, and understand the magic that courses through you. It's not about going against your parents; it's about finding a balance between duty and personal growth."

I took a deep breath, accepting the dual nature of my existence. "I'll use this time to explore the Astral realm and strengthen my abilities. When the moment is right, I'll reveal my true self and prove that Astral magic can be a force for good."

Seraphina smiled, a glimmer of pride in her eyes. "That's the spirit, Magnus. The Astral path is both a challenge and a gift. Embrace it."
