After Guin calmed down and her crying subsided, Jerome kissed her crown gently. "I'm sorry. It's not that I want to hide it, but I'll be fine." Jerome's control was almost perfect for now. He wasn't confident he'd be able to maintain his sanity after a year, but it wouldn't matter for the next few months as long as he didn't smell too much blood.
"How is it possible that you will be fine? You are a hybrid. Hybrids with dark forces have never ended well." At least, that was recorded in the history books.
"Who said that? My mother was one, yet she could break through the limits and become a goddess."
Guin lifted her eyes to meet the man's gaze. She had heard of sacrifices and what the Hope Goddess did, but this was the first time she heard that the goddess was a hybrid before becoming one.
"Your mother was a hybrid?"
"Otherwise, how could I be born as a hybrid if my mother wasn't one?"
