Actually, Jerome had a reason why he kept his distance from Guin. He only found out that the more time he spent with Guin, the more frequently he was thirsty.
It didn't matter if he could quench his thirst by hunting some animals. However, he still couldn't feel satisfied even though he had killed five bears and a lion, and his desire to suck Guin's blood was getting bigger.
Jerome was afraid for himself—afraid he would hurt Guin. Hence, he no longer touched the girl. He thought Guin wouldn't notice since the girl was also avoiding him.
Hearing that Guin was sulking because he didn't touch her made Jerome almost lose control. He doubted he could maintain his sanity if he didn't remind himself that Guin was currently weak.
Therefore, he ventured to taste the girl, and oh, how sweet the girl's blood was. Even though it was only a drop, he was elated.
