Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The City of Ryubia {Altercations}

Madison started to walk a bit further down the corridor and took a sharp left. I heard a man say, "Oh! You're here again. What is it this time, sister?"

Oh? Does Madison have a brother? That's cool, I guess.

Madison then took about another 40 seconds to finish up the talk. She then came back to me and said, "Please, follow me. You will need to get an I.D. card to go into the city."

Oh, shoot. Things like that usually cost money in these types of worlds. I then told her, "Don't have money… None."

She looked down at me and said, "Worry not. The orphanage will be covering the expense of it. Luckily, my brother runs the orphanage and I got him to undertake the pay for your card."

Wow. That is quite nice of him. I will have to thank him later for this!

We kept walking down the corridor until we were met with a larger sized double-door. She then said, "Welcome to the city of Ryubia, Pearl."

She opened the door and it led us out into the main streets. It seems that this door is not too far away from the gate, probably. This city seems huge, though. Madison then said, "If you will follow me, we will be heading over to the Adventurer's Guild to get you your guild card, which acts as a universal identification card all across the planet."

I nodded my head, and we began to walk.

As we walked through the streets, I saw many different kinds of shops. Weapon shops, armour shops, clothing shops, anything of the sorts. I also have seen many people, at least a hundred. They were all humans, though.

Is this area mainly human populated? Or, are lycanthropes just more rare? I don't know.

We kept walking through the streets, and I heard something in an alley nearby. My hearing is much better than a human's because of these fox features.

I heard a woman saying, "Please, stop!" This seems to be happening about 130 feet away… That way!

I decided to try and help who-ever it may be. Madison saw me start running in the direction I heard it coming from and yelled out, "Where are you going?!"

I yelled back, "Someone need help!" I pulled my sword from my inventory under my robe and ran as fast as I could over to where I heard the scuffle.

As I got closer I heard more clearly. There were male voices, at least two of them. The one woman seemed to be fighting back against them. Is what happening what I think may be happening? Shit.

I ran into the alley and yelled, "S-Stop!"

A man looked at me and grabbed his knife. He said, "Oh, it's just some brat. A lycanthrope one, too. We could sell it to make a some money, heh."

There are three men in total. The woman was a dog type lycanthrope, maybe around 18 years of age.

Shit. Madison is much slower than me, especially because of that armour of hers. It will be another few seconds before she gets here, and I don't think I have that kind of time

I wish I could use magic!

<>

Huh? Oh, yes! Now!

After I said that, I felt something residing inside of me burn up.

<>

If this is what I think it is, then let me try it.

I started to form mana bullets, sloppy but I don't have time to perfect them. I fired them at the man and they sent him flying back. It seems pure mana bullets are pretty powerful with their knockback. The other men there saw this and drew their weapons.

The one I hit with my mana bullets hit the adjacent wall to the woman and was knocked out cold on the ground. And, since it's my first time using mana and magic, I expended a lot trying to fiddle with it into the form of the bullets.

My body felt heavier and my mind was muddy. My breathing had gotten heavier, as well. My balance shifted and I drew my sword and pointed it at them.

They laughed at me, and one charged towards me. Kitsu then said something that would change this battle into a one-sided fight.

<>

Yes!

He got right in front of me and tried to stab me. The skill activated and I cut deeply through his leg. He fell to the ground, screaming and bleeding like hell. His leg wasn't moving anymore, due to the fact it was barely hanging on.

The other guy was smart and left when he saw that.

I'm tired now from expending all of that mana. I stored my sword and wobbled over to the dog lycanthrope woman. I asked her, "Are you okay—"

I passed out.

(Madison POV)

I got to where Pearl was and she was passed out on the ground in front of a dog-eared woman. A man laid out cold on the ground just a bit aways from them, and one dead man was right in front of me. A deep slash into his leg was bleeding profusely. I yelled, "What the hell happened?!"

The dog-eared woman, still shaken about what happened, said, "This child saved me. They were trying to…"

Oh, I see. They're r*pists. But, Pearl managed to defeat "them". Only two men are here. The other man must have left when he saw those two die.

I then asked the dog-eared woman, "Did you see what the man looked like?"

She shook her head and said, "No. He was wearing a mask with the symbol of a dragon on the side."

Ah, so it's the Ryubian Dragon Gang. They try to rob, r*pe, and do other unholy things to people in Ryubia. They first popped up about two months ago.

I then walked over to Pearl and checked her pulse.

It's weak. She must have exhausted her mana since there are traces of magic being used on that man against the wall.

I then picked up Pearl and told the woman, "Please get the nearby knights to interrogate that man back there. This one before me is dead."

She nodded her head. She then got up and exited the alley to find one of the nearby posted knights. Now, I'll have to carry Pearl to the orphanage and lay her down so she can rest to replenish her mana. And, with this display of what she could already do, she might want to enroll at the Ryubia Academy.

It's a school that teaches magic and swordsmanship, alongside many other types of weapons. She might want to go there.

I'll wait here for a moment until the other knights get here.

"Oh, Miss Madison, you're here?" A knight that knew my face and name was the one to respond. I then told him, "Take that one next to you to the interrogation room in the jail for me. I have to take this one to the orphanage. Oh! Also, make sure to burn this one outside of the walls. We don't need anyone knowing about the body."

The knight saluted and said, "Yes ma'am!"

I turned around and headed towards the orphanage where my brother is waiting for us.
