Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - The First Test

After the long, nerve-wracking night, the five candidates of the Vampire Server Selection gathered in a secluded restroom, their voices hushed and their faces etched with concern. The Alpha's speech had been a chilling reminder of the challenges that lay ahead, and the first stage, a test of intellect, loomed like an ominous shadow.

"What do you think they'll throw at us?" whispered Silvana, her voice barely audible above the hum of the air conditioning.

"Probably something to test our knowledge," Amarius replied, her eyes darting around the room as if expecting an ambush.

"Yeah, like tons of questions asking us about the history of Vampire," Renita chimed in, her voice laced with anxiety.

The candidates exchanged nervous glances, their imaginations running wild with the possibilities. The thought of being put to the test of their intelligence was terrifying, but also exhilarating.

Each of them wanted to prove their worth, to show the Alpha that they possessed the strength, cunning, and resilience.

"I think we should focus on what we have been learning," suggested Violeta, her voice firm and resolute.

The other candidates nodded in agreement. They knew that this was a chance to show the Alpha that they were a capable candidate to stand next to him as the Omega Vampire.

As they discussed their strategies, the candidates began to feel a surge of confidence.

"Rosemary," Renita began, her voice laced with a mix of curiosity and skepticism, "have you given any thought to your strategy for tomorrow's test?" She was curious about Rosemary, who was silent the moment she came into the restroom and sat alone by the fireplace.

Rosemary, her fiery red hair cascading down her shoulders, turned to Renita, her piercing blue eyes meeting her gaze with an intensity that was both disarming and captivating.

"Strategy?" Rosemary was startled by Renita's sudden question. "I have no strategy," Rosemary replied, her voice calm and unwavering.

A collective murmur rippled through the gathered candidates, their faces etched with disbelief. How could Rosemary possibly enter the first stage of the Selection with no plan in mind?

Renita challenged, her voice laced with doubt. "Without a strategy, how can you hope to overcome such challenges and pass the test?"

Rosemary's lips curled into a faint smile, "Maybe that is not what I want?" she replied.

The other candidates exchanged puzzled glances, their uncertainty growing. Rosemary's words seemed to challenge their very understanding of the Selection, suggesting an approach that was both unconventional and untested.

As the night deepened and the candidates prepared for the challenges that lay ahead, Rosemary's words lingered in their minds, challenging their preconceived notions and stirring a sense of uncertainty.

A bright morning had come.

The five candidates sat at a long table in the grand dining hall, the centerpiece a lavish spread of food that would tempt even the most discerning palate.

Alpha Vernon, the imposing leader of the vampire clan, sat at the head of the table, his piercing green eyes scrutinizing each candidate with an intensity that made them squirm in their seats.

The candidates were all vying for Vernon's attention, each trying to outdo the other with their wit, charm, and knowledge.

"Master Vernon, you may have known already. I have led countless successful missions, eliminating threats to our clan and maintaining peace within our territory."

"I have mastered the art of deception, infiltrating human strongholds and gathering vital information."

"My intellect is unmatched, my strategic mind unparalleled."

"My physical prowess is legendary, my strength and agility surpassing even the most seasoned warriors. I have single-handedly defended our territory against formidable foes, earning the respect of all vampires."

They spoke of their accomplishments, their ambitions, and their visions for the future of the vampire clan.

But Vernon seemed unmoved, his gaze always returning to Rosemary, the mysterious and enigmatic candidate who had caught his attention from the moment she had arrived.

Rosemary, her fiery red hair cascading down her shoulders, sat quietly, her piercing blue eyes fixed on her plate. She seemed uninterested in the competition, her focus seemingly elsewhere.

Yet, Vernon couldn't help but feel drawn to her, her quiet confidence and air of mystery intriguing him.

The other candidates noticed Vernon's fascination with Rosemary, their frustration grew. They tried to distract Vernon, to engage him in conversation, but their efforts were futile. Vernon's attention was fixed solely on Rosemary.

Rosemary, aware of Vernon's gaze, felt a surge of discomfort. She didn't want to be the center of attention, she didn't want to be the next Omega Vampire Server. She just wanted to live her life on her own terms.

As the breakfast continued, Rosemary became increasingly agitated. She could feel Vernon's eyes on her, his presence a constant distraction. She tried to ignore him, to focus on her food, but his gaze was like a magnet, pulling her attention back to him.

Finally, Rosemary could take it no more. She stood up abruptly, her chair scraping against the floor. "Excuse me, Master Vernon," she said, her voice laced with a hint of exasperation. "I need some air."

She stormed out of the dining hall, leaving the other candidates to gape in astonishment.

Vernon watched her go, his lips curling into a faint smile. "What is my little Rose planning now? Trying to get my attention by pretending she doesn't care?" He was intrigued by her defiance, her desire to escape the spotlight.

As Rosemary walked through the castle, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was finally free from Vernon's gaze, free from the pressure to conform. She could finally be herself, she could finally live her life on her own terms.

She wandered through the castle gardens, the scent of roses filling the air just like her Omega scent. She felt a sense of peace wash over her, a sense of belonging. She had found her place, she had found her home.

Would she pass the test today? She did not care. She just wanted this to end.

——————————————————————————————————

Deep within the heart of the ancient castle, a grand hall echoed with the hushed whispers of anticipation.

The air was thick with the scent of old books and aged parchment, a testament to the vast knowledge housed within its walls.

Five candidates stood at the center of the hall, their eyes bright with determination, their minds poised for the challenge that lay before them.

The grand hall of the vampire castle, a vast expanse of marble and echoing silence, where the Alpha Vampire sat upon his throne, his piercing green eyes surveying the candidates below.

"Today, your intellect will be put to the ultimate test. You will face a series of intricate puzzles and riddles, each one designed to unravel your deepest thoughts, your sharpest insights, and the very foundations of your wisdom." An unknown voice flew around the hall.

Each candidate was sent in a cube so no one could see what the others were doing. The stark, white cube, its walls shimmering with an otherworldly glow, where the five candidates of the Vampire Server Selection stood, their nerves on edge as they awaited the start of the intellect test.

The cube, a symbol of the testing grounds, seemed to amplify Rosemary's anxiety, its sterile, echoing emptiness casting a long shadow over her anticipation. Her heart pounded in her chests, her breath shallow and rapid, her mind racing with a mix of fear and nervousness.

The silence was deafening, broken only by the occasional rustle of clothing or the shuffling of feet.

As the cube's walls pulsed with an intensifying glow, Rosemary steeled herself for the challenge ahead.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and embraced the darkness within, the primal fear that fueled her determination.

"I will not allow myself to pass this test." Rosemary whispered to herself.

The sound of a loud ring raised. The intellect test, a crucible of mental fortitude, was about to begin.

The first puzzle came in the form of a cryptic cipher, a code that had baffled the greatest minds for centuries.

The first puzzle, a cryptic cipher, presented a challenge that had eluded the greatest minds for centuries. It was a code woven with layers of complexity, a Gordian knot of symbols and patterns that defied easy decryption.

The symbols, ancient and arcane, seemed to dance and shift before Rosemary's eyes, their meaning hidden behind layers of obfuscation. The challenge was to unravel the puzzle, to decipher the code and unlock its secrets.

Rosemary read out the question on the paper quietly, she still remembered the answer from her last life. "The alphabets are shifted for 7 letters, so it will be - If the world is red, it is a world of dominance and fear. And that is the world we vampires will thrive."

Vernon with distinct hearing as the Alpha Vampire heard the right answer coming from Rosemary's red lips, he smiled.

Yet, after a few seconds, Rosemary still had not read out the answer loud. Instead she looked around the hall, hoping the other candidates could get the answer soon. And when her eyes reached those of the Alpha Vampire, she panicked and quickly avoided him.

The Alpha Vampire's eyes narrowed as he tried to piece together the puzzle of Rosemary's motivations. His mind raced, trying to understand the implications of Rosemary's actions.

The other candidates pored over the symbols, their minds racing, their fingers tracing the intricate lines.

"If the world is red, it is a world of dominance and fear. And that is the world we vampires will thrive."

The tension in the hall was palpable, the silence broken only by the crackling of torches and the distant, mournful cry of a lone owl.

The results were announced with a solemnity that befit the gravity of the occasion. Only one candidate could emerge victorious, the one who had proven their intellect, their wisdom, and their leadership skills.

The name was read aloud, a hushed whisper that echoed through the grand hall. A collective gasp rippled through the crowd, the air thick with disbelief and admiration.

"Violeta Rlddle is the winner of this test." The unknown voice announced.
