Chapter 49 - Trying to Escape

Everyone in the room began to gather to discuss their plan to escape this zombie siege. Before that, Theodore communicated to the System.

"System, is there anything important around this area?" Theodore thought they could go upstairs or search other areas if there was nothing they should do.

[There is nothing left in this area. So the host can simply continue searching elsewhere]

"Very good, then we won't have to search this place." Theodore breathed a sigh of relief when he heard System's words.

That way, Theodore no longer hesitated to discuss plans with the others. They gathered in the center of the room to plan their escape from this place.

"Do any of you have the floor plan of this hospital?" Theodore still needs to find it. It would be easier if they had it.

"The floor plan is with Captain Victor."

"That's right, only the captain has the floor plan.

Theodore let out a rough sigh when he heard that Victor owned only the floor plan of this hospital. He needed to understand why only Victor had the floor plan when all the groups should have one.

"We were given very little time to prepare, so it looks like the captain doesn't have a copy of the floor plan yet."

It was only then that they realized that coming here without the floor plan was suicidal, let alone the fact that there were many zombies in this hospital.

Then, just as everyone was busy figuring out where to escape, someone timidly interrupted their conversation.

"By the way, I found a copy of this floor plan while scattering in the room earlier. Can it help us?" One of the young soldiers who had come with them slowly took something out.

All eyes immediately turned to him, and the group leader slowly picked up the plan to check if it was the plan they needed to escape.

"Oh my, this is really the floor plan of this hospital!" The soldier leader handed the floor plan to Theodore.

"Excellent. This way, we can move in the right direction." Theodore immediately examined the plan and started marking where they were.

As Theodore had previously guessed, they were near the infirmary in the general care ward. Not far from here were the restrooms and the cafeteria. Upstairs were the specialists, the laboratory, and various other check-ups.

"Should we go straight upstairs?" Theodore turned to the soldiers to hear their advice.

"For now, I think it's better to move upstairs. We can check the other places when we come down later." The soldier leader argued that they should prioritize finding Christopher's doctor first.

Since a doctor as important as Christopher was unlikely to be in the rest area or cafeteria, he was more likely to be upstairs. The hospital was very spacious but only had two floors.

Theodore also agreed with the army chief's advice, so they decided to go straight up to the second floor and search for Doctor Christopher. When they got to the top floor, there would be more places to explore.

It was just that Theodore hoped there wouldn't be too many zombies upstairs, and it was also likely that their group could meet up with other groups upstairs.

Theodore then carefully examined the floor plan, looking for a way to reach the top floor from their current position.

Upon closer inspection, Theodore realized they could usually reach the second floor by the escalator at the main entrance lobby. There were many ways to get to the second floor, but that was the easiest way.

Since Theodore's group was currently in the western part of the hospital, they would have to travel quite a distance to get to the second floor.

Given that they wanted to go straight to the second floor, they could use the fire escape instead. After all, they could also avoid the zombies chasing after them.

"Then we'll use the fire escape; luckily, it's not far from our current location." Theodore began to show them where to move.

Theodore discussed the matter with the soldiers for a while. They had to plan their escape carefully because the number of zombies they would face would be huge.

"Alright, we'll move now. As before, I will guard the front area and let two people guard the area behind us; the rest help me open the way towards the fire escape on the left side." Theodore repeated their plan for the last time.

"We are ready anytime!" The soldiers enthusiastically nodded their heads.

"I'll push the door now!"

Theodore pushed a door full of zombies behind it for the third time today. Only this time, not many zombies were moved away from Theodore's kick. It seemed that Theodore's thoughts about zombies becoming stronger were correct.

Theodore quickly followed up on his attack to dispel the zombies, and he beat them back.

While continuing to walk forward, Theodore slashed his sword at a group of zombies that continued attacking. The soldiers at the back followed Theodore, and they lined up as they had previously planned, with two men guarding the back and one supporting both sides.

Theodore quickly jumped high and threw his sword down to split the group of zombies below him, not forgetting he also used his Slash skill when slamming his sword down.

That way, they could move faster than before. Too many zombies were gathered in the long corridor of the area, and they were really struggling to break through the ranks.

Fortunately, they didn't need to clear them all; they only needed to go to the emergency stairs to get to the second floor.

Theodore followed up his attack with his Wind Slash skill and knocked back all the zombies within five meters of him.

"Everyone ran to the fire escape!" Theodore quickly shouted to the soldiers so they could move towards the fire escape.

Without thinking, the soldiers with Theodore immediately ran towards the fire escape, leaving Theodore and the leader to hold back the zombies.

Theodore tightened his grip on his sword and swung it with more force. He also walked backward towards the fire escape.

Fortunately, the soldiers helped Theodore as they continued to shoot at the zombies behind Theodore.

"Young man, run over here!"

Theodore gritted his teeth, then he turned around and ran as fast as he could to avoid the pursuit of the zombies that kept approaching him.
