Chapter 58 - Bring it on,...

As he balanced himself in the sky ending his precedent fall in a snap of a finger, he looked up at the archaeopteryx halfling who was still flapping its wings relentlessly to hold itself up in the air.

"Why don't you do the honors and come down here?" Ashton said to it but the halfling didn't move any inch closer to him after a minute.

"Or you want me to do the honors?" Ashton asked again, slicking his hair backwards to get them out of his face but then again, the only sound he heard was the balancing clapping of the halflings' wings.

He bowed his head as it seemed to him his opponent was one rude bastard who seemed to never listen to whatever he says.

"Well then, I guess I will just invite myself and destroy you at once!" He yelled blasting himself from where he had been floating with an invincible force field.

The archaeopteryx halfling screeched at Ashton's advance at it and it tried to flee away from the boy who had just sworn to kill it but it was not fast enough to get away from its hunter as a lightning bolt began to cackle on Ashton's palm as he advanced.

With one single dash of his arm, the lightning rippled through the air and made its way fast towards the halfling and before it could get away, the lightning struck the archaeopteryx halfling, slitting its right wing away from its body.

The loud screeching of pain filled the sky through and through but Ashton didn't bother to flinch at his opponent's scream of pain. Losing balance with the destruction of its first wing, the archaeopteryx halfling began to fall out of the sky towards the ground.

"Now you should have a taste of your own tea." Ashton smirked at it as he watched the halfling fall back the way it had wanted him to fall into the earth sickeningly in its first attempt.

As the archaeopteryx receded back into the earth, it managed to regain its balance in the air again as a new pair of wing sprouted out from the already slit spot.

"I have seen this power before." The archaeopteryx rasped speaking for the first time since the battle began, its distinct humane feature reeling out from the feather its archaeopteryx feathers had covered up. He balanced itself properly in the air and it raised its head up towards Ashton, the wings behind him still clapping.

"What was your name again?" He asked Ashton a slight smirk ensuring in its humane face. "It's been quite a while since we last met, pal."

Ashton's brows etched in confusion as he heard those words and he wondered what the creature was trying to get at by telling him such.

"I don't even know you."

"Oh shut up! It is not you I want an audience with…hello there, Callista."

"Eh?" Ashton gasped in surprise as he had not expected. "Do you know him?" He asked Callista in his thoughts.

"Ashton, listen to me okay? Right now, I will be in control of your body."

"Wait, what? You…can swap bodies with me?"

"This is not the time to ask questions…with the power of the sun, I command you to sleep."

"What the hell is goi…"

As if being dragged into an underworld labyrinth, Ashton could feel his soul slip out of his body and he knew he had lost control of his own body.

"Vinn." Callista, who was now in control of Ashton's body, called at the archaeopteryx. "It's been ages since I last saw you."

"Haha!" The so-called Vinn laughed, his wings flapping hard as they aided him in his laughter. "I knew it…so you were one of the chosen who would be ascending into the heavenly realm after your state of attunement with a host ends?"

"What does that matter to you?"

"That is none of my concern but you getting a fancy welcome into heaven after betraying your clan will never sit well with me." Vinn rasped his eyes suddenly changing to a dangerous glare.

"We all had one choice, Vinn and you chose the path to destruction. So tell me, why are you pressed about my own choice? You had your own life to live, didn't you?"

Vinn chuckled a bit, leveling his eyes below him to see how his other company who was still trying to attack Chainy was coping. He then turned back at Callista and said,

"Then I guess, I better make you regret choosing to stand on the Almighty's side other than your clan."

As he said those words, the claws on it feets stretched out to be more sharper and ferocious than it was before. The feathers on its wing began to sprout out blinding blades dramatically and within a space of a minute, every feather on its wing became sharp blades that could as well serve as short swords.

"Is that all you've got?" Callista asked Vinn with a smirk on her face. "Your ability is still as weak as when I killed you then…how you survived my attack does not matter anymore as I am going to finish you off today!"

Callista turned her face to the sky abruptly and then back at Vinn before she muttered,

"I summon the night sky blade!"

A loud rune rang out of nowhere and a lightning bolt shot out of the sky calling the other lightning bolts that were hiding in the sky. A white blinding light surrounded Callista and all Vinn could do was watch her receive the sword she had summoned.

Callista, shutting her eyes at the world, suddenly held her right hand forward as if she was grabbing something mid air. As she stretched her hand, a lightning bolt made its way through the open space between her fingers and when the bolt had escaped, a magnificent sword made out of special metal and crystal that captures the light of the stars, giving it a shimmering, starry appearance appeared in her hand.

The light that emanated from the sword was blinding to an average human but the rivals were used to seeing that happen before.

"I see you still have that stuck in your yard." Vinn teased as the cackling lightning bolt began to subdue.

"I was given this by the Almighty to slit the throat of rebels." Callista returned, her eyes turning grim and devoid of any ounce of emotion.

"Let's finish this then!" Vinn rasped, his brows etching with anger while charging towards Callista with its wings flapping ferociously behind him.

"Bring it on, brother!"
