Chapter 5 - His Unordinary Life

Akumu slowly returned to reality, only to find himself glued to the sheets of a hospital bed. He took a look at his surroundings, only to find himself to be the only one present in the room. As he got up, he removed the IV plugs as well as the ventilator in an attempt to explore his surroundings.

When he looked outside a nearby window, he saw a large empty court yard that felt familiar to him, but he couldn't quite figure out where he saw it.

His body ached from being in bed for what seemed to be almost a century as well as from the wounds he had sustained, but he felt relieved as he felt the currents of cursed energy dwelling in his body. He didn't have a good grasp and controlling it, but he could still project his dark whips.

"Misoto...", he muttered.

Tear droplets slowly fell from his eyes. He had never gotten a proper opportunity to mourn over his friend's death, but now that he had some time to himself, he slowly began to remember the times he had spent with his fallen companion.

He sacrificed himself to save him, so he fought to protect that life he died for. And he would continue to protect it, as long as he could.

And, as if to break that silence, the doors swung open and a single lady entered the room. She wore a long white unbuttoned lab coat with a grey shirt tucked underneath. Her hair was blond and messy yet she possessed a decently sized bosom.

She flinched harshly as she had expected Akumu to still be slumbering in bed, and so she dropped all the documents that she had been carrying.

"Oh!"

**

The woman's name was Jihi Asushi, the doctor for Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, or Jujutsu High for short.

"Wait.. for Jujutsu Tech... I'm in Jujutsu High!?"

And then, faint memories of what had happened before he passed out, flashed in his mind. Just before he lost consciousness, he heard the curtain break, and THE Owari Gojo had appeared. It was all too much for him to take in.

"I have other stuff to deal with, so I'm going to summarize this as best as I can. You've been in a coma for the last 6 months. I've been able to fix and restore your body as best as I can, but you'll still have to undergo rehab to relearn how to use your body."

Before Asushi could finish her summary, Owari loudly broke into the room.

"Jihi-chan~, let's talk for a bit~"

His demeanor immediately broke upon seeing the conscious Akumu. He cleared his throat quickly as he pretended he saw nothing. Jihi's embarrassment immediately got ahold of her as she quickly escaped from the room.

'What were they doing while I was asleep...'

"So it seems you've woken up?", Owari asked.

"Well what does it look like???"

Akumu was a little stunned for a few moments, but then he realised who he was talking to. This was Japan's strongest sorcerer, the number 1 Special Grade as well as the future heir to the Gojo family, one of the 2 clans which governed the Jujutsu side of Society.

His face paled, as he quickly apologised.

Owari just laughed it off as he didn't really care,

"That's great then, so I will assume you're already aware that your the last one left?"

Akumu's face turned dark. If Misoto was able to evade Senjuro the first time around, then it should've been possible for others to have survived too.. but he truly was the last one left. Hundreds of people killed, in just a couple minutes.

Not that he liked any of them anyway, but still...

"Akumu Saigo. You survived getting impaled by that guy, so I'm sure you'll make a full recovery by next week. When that happens, your going to be enrolled in Tokyo Jujutsu High."

"But why? I wasn't capable enough before. so what changed?", he asked.

"You've caught the attention of several influential figures in the Jujutsu world. For starters that man, Senjuro had been attracted towards you, and he clearly left you alive on purpose. He is the terrorist responsible for the Shibuya power plant incident 7 years ago as well as the current leader of the Star religious group."

After Sukuna was defeated, Tengen had mutated into a being of great power that leaked limitless cursed energy. In order to better harvest this energy from the dormant creature, a power plant in a destroyed part of Shibuya was built, simply known as 'The Shibuya Power Plant'. Seven years ago, it was ravaged by Senjuro, causing many people to lose their lives.

"But how can that be? Wasn't what happened at the plant an accident? I was told it were stray cursed spirits attracted to Tengen that killed my mother."

"It wasn't cursed spirits, but rather an organized terror attack that was covered up. If such news made it to the public, it would show our weakness in national security to other nations. Countries like the United States, China, and the newly united Korea would see it as an opportunity to strike at us. After all, we have the largest supply of cursed energy in the world thanks to that Plant."

He didn't remember much about his mother. Only that she used to work in that power plant up until the attack which took her life. Since that day, his father had never been the same, until he disappeared seven months later.

"So my mother was killed by Senjuro... he took my best friend from me too... the reason my life ended up like this, was because of him..."

Slowly, a bubble of rage began to build up in him. He had never experienced this much emotion towards one person, but it would be weird if he didn't.

"If you want to see Senjuro again, then get stronger. He's come for you once already, and he will most certainly come for you again, so get strong enough so that you can give him what he deserves."

After going over a couple more details with Akumu, Owari got up and left. Leaving Akumu alone with his thoughts.

In just a short hour, he had learned so much more, and there were even more secrets waiting for him to uncover. All he needed to do, was get stronger. And so he silently promised himself,

"I'll kill you, Senjuro."

That nuisance of an alarm clock repeated it's irritating screech until it was quickly silenced by the young man's fist. The morning was greeted with the sound of a stray cat fight occurring outside, and the noisy neighbor hushing them both down. Akumu Saigo was an ordinary boy who lived an ordinary life in his country of Japan. His routine followed:

Wake up, shower, eat breakfast, and go to school.

This was a routine he followed strictly without fail, and he carried it out diligently for the last time. Every day before he leaves, he made sure to pray to his parents makura kazari and lights incense, showing respect to the two.

As he peddled on his bike, he turned his head to gaze at the great landmark that is now a natural occurrence to him and many people. The New Tokyo Jujutsu High represents the power of this country and its people. A place where the sorcerers of the country are trained to fight both curses and people alike who may misuse that power for evil. It was the place where his father once taught, and now it was his new home.

Once upon a time, Akumu Saigo had great dreams of going to that school and becoming a powerful sorcerer that could protect his people from invaders. But after that terrible night 7 years ago he completely lost the courage to fight again.

But now with new found determination, it's time for him to tackle it once again.
