Chapter 6 - Pecking Order

This was it. He had come here once before, exactly a year ago now. He had failed the entrance exam back then, but thanks to Owari and several others, he had been granted admission. He even got to wear the Jujutsu high uniform, but his was white unlike the usual ones.

He asked Owari why, but he said it was to let everyone know he was special. Whether it was in a good or bad way, he had no clue.

"This time, everything will be different."

He was already 7 months behind the first years, so he had to catch up!

Not even after taking more than two steps into the academy Akumu was immediately met with a fist filled with cursed energy, aimed directly at his chest. He quickly raised his arms to block it, but was still sent flying into a wall nearby, taking some heavy damage.

"It hasn't even been 5 minutes, and I'm already in a conflict??"

He suddenly remembered a piece of advice that he had received from Owari. a day prior to his attendance.

"This school is incredibly competitive so don't be surprised if you get into one or two fights on your first day. They enjoy establishing some kind of hierarchy so try not to die too quick."

No matter how you read it, that sentence was implying he would die at least once.

Snapping back to reality, Akumu quickly fell out of the small crater, before taking a fighting stance as started to observe his opponent. This man was very much like your typical delinquent. Slick blonde hair that reached to his neck, a rough and hard face with a plaster that rested atop his nose. His build was big and bulky while his uniforms jacket rested atop his shoulders as if it was some kind of cape.

Eventually, a small crowd gathered around the scene to witness the beatdown that was about to unfold, with some even dressing like his assaulter. This was a natural occurrence at the Tokyo Jujutsu High.

"Akumu Saigo! It was you! My brother is dead because of you!"

His heart immediately froze when he heard those words. It wasn't just that, but the crowd's whispers and murmurs intensified. Him being the sole survivor of that massacre was already public, and Jujutsu high had already protected him from being raided by the media, but still, people gave their opinion's on the matter.

Some felt pity, some empathy, but others...

Thar roaring statement shattered his ears. Misoto always liked to brag about his older brother attending this school, as if he were his most prized possession. He never got to meet him as he was always away on missions or busy on campus, but if there was one thing that he was sure about. It was that he was incredibly strong for his age.

His name was Ken Dojima.

Akumu wasn't quite sure how to feel. This was his friends brother, but he was attacking him right now. If he won't listen to reason, then he'll just beat it into him.

Ken dashed towards Akumu, but he was nowhere near as fast as Senjuro. The second he got close, Akumu used his dark whips to grab a hold of the wrists of the attacking arm. Then like a bullfighter using his muleta, he swiftly dodged his first strike and directed him back into the wall he crashed into earlier.

The surrounding crowd began to cheer loudly at the counter attack, which made Akumu slow down from all the attention. Unknowingly he had not realised that the cheers of the crowd were not meant for him.

As the dust settled, Ken who still had his wrist wrapped in the dark whip, slowly began to move.

"If this is all you have, then I don't even need to use my Innate technique against you."

He began to power up as a powerful wave of cursed energy was emitted from his body. The singular dark whip was instantly broken apart, frightening Akumu.

Ken quickly started to charge towards him again, and so Akumu prepared to maneuver around him like before. But the pain from being slammed into the wall earlier finally kicked in as he froze in place. Despite being discharged, he hadn't 100% recovered.

A decent further distance away a girl with snow-white hair along with a much smaller orange-haired boy began to walk away from the scenery as if knowing the end of the battle was near.

The last thing Akumu saw before his world faded away, was the mighty fist of vengeance making contact with his face.

A couple hours later he woke up in the same hospital bed as he did once before. This time Jihi had sat next to him, waiting for his re-awakening.

She breathed a heavy sigh of disappointment before she spoke,

"You hadn't even had your first practical and you have already ended up here."

She appeared to be speaking from experience.

Akumu reflected on himself. On his first day he had somehow already been branded as both a loser and a victim. He thought things were finally changing but he was wrong, either way, this simply meant that he needed to try again.

If fighting him one time wasn't enough, then he would fight him twice. And if that wasn't enough, he would fight him four times.

"Once you start feeling like it, go straight to your dormitory room."

The second she left however, Akumu quickly collapsed from exhaustion.

**

Later that day, Akumu had finally gotten out of bed. It was already nightfall when he realized he had missed his first day of school.

Before coming, he had received a dorm key labeled D316.

He struggled to navigate through the immensely large campus, but he quickly recalled the small bits and pieces of information he had read on a flier before arriving. The school was split into 5 blocks:

A block as the main school building

B block as the main cafeteria

C block as the main arena for practice

D block as the main dormitory

E block as the Cursed tool workshop

Recalling that information and asking for some directions, he very quickly made his way to D block.

Of course, there was group of people waiting outside its entrance. During a time when most of the students were meant to be asleep, Akumu recognized the group as the people who followed Ken before he was attacked. Figuring that they would try to cause trouble for him, he hurriedly sprinted into another side of D block that contained an equally massive building. However, in his rush, he had failed to notice the sign that read the following:

Girls Dormitory, No boys!

He quickly navigated his way through the halls of repetitive doors and stairs before arriving at a door that had a number corresponding to his key D316. Funnily enough, the door had been left unlocked so he freely walked in as he pleased.

"Gah! Lazy roommate."

For a school as big as this, there weren't enough single bedrooms to go around. Since Akumu had been added on halfway through, he was forced to share a room with someone.

The room was nicely organized with a pair of beds, desks, and mirrors all on their own opposite sides of the room. Staring into one of the mirrors Akumu took note of his messy appearance, and the unusual strand of white hair that stood out amongst the rest. This was his first time he had seen himself since the incident at his old school.

Deciding to finally take this time to clean himself, he thought it would be nice to take a shower.

However, as if god hadn't punished him enough times today, a girl wearing nothing but a bath towel with an average-sized chest, stretched out her hand pointing at him

She shouted,

"DIE PERVERT"

"WHAT!"

A blast of wind then emerged from her hands as Akumu was blasted out of the room through a window which his body shattered. He quickly utilized his black whip to latch onto the balcony but it isn't enough to break his fall.

He crashed into the pavement below from the third floor, but was grateful as all his bones remained intact.

The girl then emerged onto a balcony and continued to scream more slurs at him, while throwing many blades of wind that tore through the ground easily. And as if to only add more chaos to the situation, the lights and balcony doors opened up across several of the rooms of the building all filled with girls who also joined in the fray.

Alas, his first night concludes, as the lowest in the pecking order with the reputation of a creep.
