Aaron got lucky. As it turned out, his guess about the group that he was chasing was right. They were heading to the capital of the country, and he even could see a giant city and a massive silver castle in the distance from several kilometers away.
Its towering walls glowed in the sunlight, and people almost could see their reflection in them. The castle seemed to be made entirely of silver and was surrounded by a moat filled with crystal-clear water. Most people would feel in was in awe of its beauty and could only imagine what it would be like to live inside such a grand structure.
The castle's parts reached high into the sky, and its turrets were adorned with silver flags that moved in the gentle breeze. It was truly a sight to behold.
Most people would, but Aaron didn't feel like that since even though he left his undead army a few kilometers away from the city, he still drew all the attention to himself once he approached and crossed the gates of the city.
"At least they aren't mad enough to try to kill me in the middle of the day," Aaron thought while looking around.
At the entrance of the city, Aaron found some new buildings. It looked like the place had been expanded recently, but he found some old and not well-maintained buildings in the middle of the place. Weirdly enough, that part of the city was the most popular one since it had plenty of shops and other kinds of businesses going on around.
After Aaron left the area, he reached the high-class district where the nobles lived. Since he was wearing commoner clothes, he stood out like a sore thumb. At least moving around wasn't forbidden or something.
"Well, then… how do I convince the guards that I need to see the king?" Aaron thought while scratching the back of his head when he saw the walls and the gate of the castle.
The place was being guarded by some guards who were heavily armed and armored. They probably weren't the type who would talk with Aaron. They would kick him out and throw salt if they had to. The soldiers and guards wear black armor with red lines that gave off a menacing vibe. Their helmets covered their entire face, making it difficult to see any clear features. The soldiers were tall and muscular, exuding an aura of strength and power. Their weapons, which included swords and spears, are also quite impressive and added to their overall intimidating presence.
When they saw Aaron, they looked at him, and Aaron could feel their annoyance. They are stronger than all the guys Aaron has faced until now. Still, he had the experience and ingenuity on his side.
"Hello, gentlemen. How do you do?" Aaron asked.
"Fuck off, peasant," One of the guards said after he stepped forward. "Turn around and leave unless you want to get a beating before that."
"How rude, do you kiss your mother with that dirty mouth of yours?" Aaron asked.
The guards looked at each other in confusion. Only four of them were guarding this side of the gate, but soon, others approached once they noticed that something was off in the air.
In the end, the guard stepped forward after a long sigh and then stopped while looking down on Aaron. After all, the guard was over two meters tall, while Aaron was only 1,8 meters tall.
In the end, the guard swung his shield to make Aaron fall, but he hit the air and fell thanks to it. His motion had been so obvious that Aaron saw it even before the guard thought about doing it.
"I need to talk with the one in charge of the city. Is he the king of this country?" Aaron asked. "Can you tell him that an envoy from a distant land needs to talk with him about a matter that concerns the safety of your country?"
The other guards laughed at the guy on the ground, and that only worked to put oil on the fire. The guard got up and then tried to stab Aaron with his spear. The look on his face changed; he was willing to talk quite a bit, but not when someone pointed their weapons at him and emitted their bloodlust.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you…" Aaron said in a cold tone. "You will regret it…"
The guard charged and then thrust his spear, but Aaron moved to the side and dodged the attack. However, the enemy predicted that he would do that and soon swung his spear to the side. Aaron jumped and avoided the weapon, and at the same time, he grabbed the helmet of the soldier, pulled in, and then pushed forward.
The guard's head hit the helmet back and forth several times, and he eventually fell unconscious on the ground. Aaron could have done more, but he wasn't out for killing anyone… not yet.
Still, it looked like things wouldn't end that well at that rate. The nearby guards readied themselves to fight, and the gate opened. Some others approached just to be sure… they couldn't imagine Aaron looking like that, defeating those three guards. Still, they also felt that they needed to be safer than sorry.
