Denver was speechless. This had been the habit of his grandfather, he had introduced himself to all of his friends.
Denver rubbed the bridge off his nose and said, "Fine, I'll go there."
He got off his bike while Lex also did the same. Denver took the keys of both bikes and turned to Harold.
"Hey, we'll leave the bikes here, so please take them inside," Denver said as he tossed the keys to Harold.
Harold caught the keys and said, "As you say."
Denver nodded and began to walk towards the last mansion in the row. All three were pretty much similar to each other and made like triplets.
"What are the chances that he has found a fiance to you?" Denver mused.
"Who is his grandson again? If there is any fiancee troop, then it should happen with you, not me." Lex said.
"And who has he called today? Certainly not me, actually even if I hadn't come, he would be fine. I'm sure of that." Denver said as he played with his eyebrows.
"Meh, I doubt that." Lex snorted.
While chatting, they arrived inside the garden that was around the mansion. As they were walking towards the main building, Lex's gaze went to the garden which was on the side of the mansion.
"Hey, looks like we need to go there." Lex caught Denver by his neck as he forced his head to look in the direction he was looking.
"Huh!? Oh yeah! Old man is sitting there, let's go." Denver released himself from Lex's grip and walked towards the garden, where he saw his grandfather sitting.
They reached the garden and saw two old men talking with each other while laughing. One was an old man with a big belly and short white hair. He was the one most mostly talking.
The second one was an old man with a lean posture and short grey hair. He was sitting in a wheelchair and just quietly listening to the other old man while occasionally giving his comments.
Denver stopped while Lex continued walking forward, he smiled seeing the old but familiar face of his Grandpa Max. He wasn't his biological grandfather but had given him love even more than the blood-related one.
He was there when he needed someone experienced and elderly in his life. He was and always will be. This old man was one of the few people whom Lex actually respected from the bottom of his heart.
If Grandpa Max asked him to murder someone, he wouldn't even ask why and would definitely do it. He had that much trust in Grandpa Max.
"Oii, old man, you can clearly see that the other party isn't interested in your chit-chat, so why are you running your mouth like that?" Lex as he strolled forward in the garden.
Grandpa Max stopped talking as his breathing stopped for a minute; a small smile hung on his lips that couldn't erase the warmth it was radiating.
The next moment, that smile turned to a laugh as Grandpa Max said, "So you've finally decided to come and check on this old man, ey?"
Lex came in front of Grandpa Max and crouched down to his knees level. He put his head on his knees and said, "I'm here alright, so just bless me."
Grandpa Max patted Lex's head and said, "Brat, you're asking for something impossible, you know."
"Huhn!? You can't even give that much? Just how cheapskate are you?" Lex raised his head and asked.
Grandpa Max smacked his hard hand on Lex's head and said, "What more do you want? You already have everything of mine."
Lex rubbed his head and said, "You're as strong as ever, even in your old age. It hurts, you know."
While all that, the smile on his face had never once vanished. He was really enjoying his time with Grandpa Max.
Denver, who was looking at everything from afar, could only have muffled laughs. He was very happy seeing Lex getting the smack. There were only a few people who could actually beat Lex like that, and he certainly wasn't among them; that's why he was happy with that.
Grandpa Max snorted and said, "I have become old, but my strength is still there brat. Also, why did you come alone? Where's my princess?"
"Your princess is now very talented and very busy. She doesn't have time for anyone, not even you." Lex shook his head and said.
And that comment earned another smack to Lex. He looked at Grandpa Max and saw him raising his hand again.
"Fine! I'm telling you, why are you so violent? Beating me for everything, I've finally come to meet you after all those years, and this is how you treat me, tsk." Lex mumbled loud enough so that everyone could hear it.
"Are you wandering around with that unfilial grandson of mine or what? When did you learn to become so over-dramatic? Just tell me where Ely is otherwise I'll break your bones." Grandpa snorted and said.
Lex shrugged and answered honestly this time, "She has found a master in the Academy so she went with her today. Well, we're living close anyways, so I'll bring her someday else."
Grandpa Max nodded as he accepted that explanation. But he wasn't done. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "And where's that unfilial grandson of mine?"
'Fuck!!' Denver almost lost his balance and hurriedly turned around to leave.
Lex's smile turned evil as he pointed his finger in Denver's direction and said, "He's hiding there. But why hide? I mean, why would someone hide from their grandfather unless they have done something wrong? Am I right, Old Man?"
'Fuck you, Lex! You bitch!!' Denver cursed and put down his leg. There was no point in running away now. He had to face everything now.
Denver shook his head and thought, 'Be brave. You're an adult now. Why are you fearing an old man on his deathbed.'
"If I don't see you in front of me in 10 seconds, then be ready to get the punishment."
