David's icy glare pierced Carissa, causing her to shift uncomfortably under his grasp. With trembling hands, she reached out to touch his face but he jerked away, the imprint of her fingernails left behind.
"Don't try these fake gestures with me. Do you really think I could forget what you did?" His jaw clenched with rage as he gazed at her with malice. "You abandoned me to die in a hospital six years ago, all in the name of your precious family!"
Carissa's eyes widened in shock at his accusation. But he couldn't be serious, could he? She opened her mouth to deny it but he turned away from her.
He turned back to her with a swift movement, gripping her arm tightly. "You not only betrayed me, but you also abandoned me after everything I sacrificed for you. And now you want to pretend like it never happened? Or do you plan to lie and say you've forgotten?"
