David jolted up, agitated by Nikki's actions. Stepping away from the dining room, he turned to George, who was still on the phone and spoke in a sharp tone. "So, Carissa submitted her resignation letter?" He scrunched his nose, not allowing George to respond. "How could she?" His voice rose, causing Mrs. Rita, who was nearby, to shoot him a sideways glance.
"Sir, she actually..." George started to explain.
"Why did you accept her resignation letter without informing me? I employed her, not you, George!" David's control was slipping away.
"She didn't resign," George clarified, his heart beating faster as he sensed David's growing anger.
Feeling the intensity and rage in his boss's voice, George quickly rectified. "She didn't resign at all. I think you misunderstood me."
"Then what did you receive when I asked you earlier?" David's forehead creased in confusion.
"I received her plea message for the day off."
