Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

6 years later... After the incident with my family, Waya and I moved to Kyoto, Japan.

I was collecting water over at the river. I filled the two buckets and walked them over to the house. It's Saturday, so I don't have school. My brother is in the backyard training.

I walk into the house, and heard the sound of wood hitting wood. I set the buckets down and went to peek outside. Waya was practicing his kendo skill in the backyard. His bokken striking the hard wooden dummy he set up for training.

"Hey, Waya? You got a minute?" I asked, sticking my head out the window. He lowered the wooden katana and looked away from the target. " Yeah, what is it?", he asked.

" Can you teach me kendo?"

"Why?", asked Waya.

"Isn't it obvious!? So I can become a Hunter!", I yelled. Waya turned back to his target and instantly said, "no".

"YEAH!!", I exclaimed. Then realization came to me, " wait. WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO!!?"

"Exactly what I said. No. It's too dangerous."

" So? You deal with dangerous stuff all the time! So why can't I?", I complained. "One: You're not old enough to join the Hunter Organization. Two: You're immature, noisy, and tend to be reckless in complicated situations. Three: I don't want you to get hurt. So no is no."

"OH COME ON!! So what, I don't have what it takes? That's not going to stop me from avenging our family!!", I pledged.

"Is vengeance all this is about? I killed the wendigo that ate our family. Is that not enough for you?"

"Of fucking course not! I can't forgive nor forget what that bastards did to our parents! To our little sister! I'm going to kill every last one if those things! I'll show no mercy to any of them--", I started. But before I could finish, Waya hit me.in the head with his bokken.

"Ow!!WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR--!?", I asked.

"Do you even hear yourself right now? How can you say you are doing the right thing by killing them all? You sound like a madman. This is why I said no. You lack everything a true Hunter needs. You will never become a Hunter. Not on my watch. And as your chaperone, I won't allow you to become a Hunter." Waya wasn't even looking at me now

No. He can't do that! "No way! I'm not going to let you stop me from becoming a Hunter! How can you say something like that?!You're my brother, you have to!

"You have no idea what it means to be a Hunter. That's why I say no. And that's that."

"THEN SHOW ME! TEACH ME HOW THEN! No matter what you say, I can't let anything stand in my way!"

Waya stood there for a minute, then let out a short sigh.

"Ok. I'll show you. But promise me you won't do anything rash."

" Of course, dear brother! Heheheh!", I laughed.
