Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7: ORSON

He couldn't believe that he was caught. In all his many years of being born, that was the first time he had been exposed to someone and making matters worse, to a woman of all people.

What was more infuriating was how shameless the woman was? At first, he thought that she was just saying it like that simply because he was sleeping and couldn't hear a single thing.

But who would have known that even when he was awake, she would blatantly say something like that?

Calista didn't mind the hateful glare the man was giving her. What was important was how the man was awake and looked so damn handsome, even with the new addition on his left cheek.

With such deep eyes that make one want to fall deep and for her to explore the deep secrets he was hiding; they didn't scare her. They just made her more curious and determined to get him.

"How can you call your savior shameless? Dear, aren't you a bit rude?" she shamelessly retorted as she sized the man seriously.

"You…"

"Save your breath. You aren't fully healed yet. We wouldn't want anything happening to you, after all!"

When it comes to shamelessness, if Calista says that she is number two, then no one would dare claim that he or she is number one.

"What is your name? Where do you come from? Do you remember anything?" Calista decided to ask as soon as she got the chance.

'It would be better if he doesn't remember much about himself!' she hoped maliciously while maintaining her curious expression.

Upon hearing her changing the topic swiftly, before starting to bombard him with questions. He couldn't help but contemplate what to say to her. He obviously couldn't tell her the reason why he appeared in such a place in the first place.

He didn't know yet whether she was a friend or a foe. Whether she would do him good or bring harm or whether he could trust her.

There was so much at stake and he didn't want to miss the chance of getting what made him traverse through space to come all the way to her side.

It's just that he didn't expect her to wear her heart on her sleeve to the extent of revealing what she was hoping for so easily like that.

Hearing the last question, an idea suddenly formed in his head. As long as he follows the flow of the wind, wouldn't he get the answers he wanted easily?

So, with that in mind, he calmed down, his sharp defensive gaze softening and lowering.

Calista, seeing that, couldn't help but feel relieved. Although acting shamelessly can be of great help, things would only work when everyone is on the same page.

"I am sorry for what I did and said earlier!" he said with remorse written all over his face, his head lowering as if he was a child who had done wrong.

Seeing that, Calista was a bit taken aback since she wasn't expecting such a huge turnaround.

Who would have expected the fierce man she saw earlier would be a paper tiger?

Seeing all that, Calista couldn't help but smile dismissively, her heart racing widely upon seeing such submissiveness. "It's okay. It's expected."

In this era of hers, men like him were quite rare, and she was starting to like him more, although she hadn't accessed him more.

"So, do you remember anything? Don't worry, I am not a bad person and there is no way I will send you to the government office!" Calista said softly, worried that the handsome young man who probably was a scholar considering how he carried himself. If she was to forget those dangerous eyes she saw earlier, would misunderstand her.

She needed to make at least a 50% good impression of the man she had vowed to marry, whether he liked it or not. Of course, he didn't know about it yet, but he would pretty soon.

The man sighed with relief when he heard Calista's clarification.

"You shocked me there for a moment!" he said with a faint smile, making the newly formed scar on his left cheek widen a bit.

'It's a pity that I had to do that!' she lamented, thinking of the scar she added to the handsome face to make him less handsome.

She had to prevent any Janes and Ruth from salivating after seeing her man. She had to protect him at all costs, otherwise he might be tempted.

"So, do you remember? What's your name and where are you from?" Calista asked once again.

How could they continue to communicate if she didn't know some bit of information about him?

"I ….. I am afraid that ... I have to disappoint you. I don't remember clearly but I,….I think that my name is Orson," he responded apologetically as he lowered his head as if he had done something wrong.

When Calista heard that, she gawked as she looked at the man.

Were the deities really planning on sending her a free husband?

She couldn't help but be stunned.

What was the best state for scamming someone into marriage when the possibility of doing it in the right condition was nil? It was when someone was having a memory loss.

Any lie can become the truth. Although that would only last until the truth gets exposed, that wasn't the problem for Calista.

She would cook the rice first and deal with other matters later.

Besides, she was the one with the upper hand here.

"Orson …. What a beautiful name!" she praised sincerely after sorting her messy thoughts.

Orson smiled shyly, looking away, taking Calista by surprise.

With how Orson was especially with that scar on his face, being shy and acting bashfully was truly a spectacle to see.

"Thank you," he shyly muttered, completely sounding the opposite of what she was expecting him to be.

But that wasn't completely bad for her. In fact, it was perfect. And she didn't hesitate to hit the iron whilst it was hot.

"Calista. That's my name, Calista."
