Chapter 37 - CHAPTER 37: POSSESSED

"You don't have to overthink, Auntie. Just take everything home. I still have enough which we left in the pots!" Calista smiled at Ma Susan upon seeing how reluctant she was to take the leftovers.

After a huge feast, a lot of food remained at the table, which wasn't touched. Instead of leaving the food for herself and her husband, Calista wanted the Dickens to take the food away.

If the leftovers were to remain with her, when would she be able to finish them?

Besides, if she was craving a particular dish, all she would have to do was cook it. But that wasn't the same for others.

When she was extravagant, other families were frugal. So, letting her friend's family enjoy themselves even if it would be for a day was worth it. There was no loss for her.

"But …."

"Aunty, don't anger me. You have helped us greatly today. So please, just do this for me. In the future, if you crave something, just tell me, and I will cook it for you!" she wasn't lying when she said that.

She didn't lack money at all, so indulging others once in a while wasn't such a bad thing.

Ma Susan felt warmhearted when she saw how adamant Calista was on letting her take back so much food, she and her family could eat for two to three days if she served sparingly.

It was about to get cold and the icehouse was working perfectly. As long as the food was stored carefully, the food would definitely last for longer.

"Okay. Since you insist, Auntie will not hold back!" Ma Susan acquiesced with a sigh before smiling sincerely at Calista.

With Ma Susan no longer making things difficult, Susan and Rita both helped Ma Susan pack the leftovers in the containers which Calista had provided.

While the women were busy with that, the men having their private talks accompanied Orson, but if it was in the light, anyone would have noticed that somehow Orson's ears had turned red.

Anyone could imagine what kind of conspiracy theories they were discussing there.

Around nine that night, the Dickens finally bid farewell to the newly wedded couple.

"Son, don't forget what we talked about!" before leaving, Ba Susan didn't forget to remind Orson who was standing next to his wife, with his hands behind his back.

When Calista heard that, she looked up at Orson with an inquisitive gaze, wondering what that old man was talking about.

And when Orson, who wished he could beat the crap out of the old man for saying that out loud, felt that gaze, he had an inkling that it wasn't going to end pretty well.

"I wonder what it is!" she mumbled under her breath, but he heard it pretty well.

Orson cleared his throat embarrassingly as he looked away, afraid that if he were to remain looking at her, he might be tempted and reveal the shameful things he had to listen to earlier.

Talking about the shameful things, did Calista perhaps also listen to it from Ma Susan and the others?

He couldn't help but be curious.

Calista, seeing that she could no longer see any shadows of the Dickens family, flicked her fingers where Orson could see. And magically, at that moment, an invisible shield filled with so much energy started surrounding the courtyard.

Seeing that the shield was enveloping the courtyard, Calista, without exposing herself, turned to look at Orson, who still carried an embarrassed expression on his face and said coyly, "Husband, it's time to turn in for the night!"

When he heard that, he turned his head around to face her, his cheeks a bit red from the heat. "You …. How could you say that?"

No matter what, she was still a woman. How could she urge him like that?

Calista's lips curled upwards as she took a few steps towards him and Orson, seeing that smile, took a few steps backwards, his heart thumping loudly for he had an idea of what she wanted to do.

"Husband, we are married. So of course, I can say anything. Besides, it's not like I was ever the virtuous kind who always speaks softly and in riddles. It's our night and I don't want to waste it!" she shamelessly admitted as she boldly stood in front of her escaping husband.

"You …" seeing her standing so close to him, with a short distance between them, Orson didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

'Just where did she learn to be this shameless? But I like it! A bold woman who knows what she wants and can do anything to get it. If she was a man, she would go far!' he praised inwardly while showing a nervous expression on the outside.

Calista at this juncture honestly didn't care whether he was being shy or trying to evade her. All she knew was that no matter what, the wedding should be consummated. She had something to prove to the masses and no one, even her husband, was going to stop her from achieving that.

"Let's go inside, hubby. You wouldn't like me when I get angry!" she threatened with a smile on her face before she walked away, leaving Orson with a dumbfounded expression.

'Damn! Did I just ….?' He laughed at himself as his gaze looked down to his lower body.

'Could it be that I …..?' His inner thoughts shocked him and yet as he followed her just like she commanded, he couldn't help but conclude that he might indeed have a fetish.

Otherwise, if he didn't have. Why was he still here and not back home?

If he wanted to leave, even that shield wouldn't stop him from leaving.

So, as he followed her inside, fully knowledgeable about what would happen once those doors were locked, he introspected himself and by the time he stood in an unfamiliar room he had always wished to see ever since he appeared in Calista's domain. An answer finally came to mind.

'I might be possessed!'
