Chapter 92 - Karin Uzumaki Returns

After training was over, I met with Hinata's father, Hiashi-sama, the head of the Hyuga Clan. He asked me a few questions.

Our conversation was pleasant at first. But when we started talking about Danzo's intentions, he said I was right to prioritize the village's interests.

However, he mentioned something I didn't understand. He said, "It's obvious that Lady Fifth would order her special security officer to handle something this important."

Wait, special security officer? When did I become that? Anyways, I didn't ask him about it; I just nodded like I understood. Now, I need to ask Granny Tsunade about this.

So, that's my plan. But it's already noon, so I need to grab some lunch before heading straight to the Hokage office.

First, I'll stop by my apartment. I trained hard today and really need to freshen up. After that, I'll head to the Hokage office in the afternoon.

As I walked through the village, I picked up some groceries for lunch. It's been a while since I've eaten home-cooked food.

Everyone in the village is acting so different toward me. They're warm and friendly, eager to help. It feels like a family—something I've never really had.

But were they always like this? I'm not sure, but one thing is clear: things have changed a lot.

After buying everything for lunch, I headed straight back to my apartment and noticed someone standing by the door.

"Hey, Karin!" I called out, waving at her.

"I was just waiting for you," she replied, glancing at the bags in my hands. "Did you go shopping?"

"Not much, just picked up some vegetables and a few things for cooking. You can join me for lunch if you want," I said while unlocking the door and stepping inside.

"You're cooking?" she asked, surprised.

"Of course! Who else would do it?"

"I was just curious. If you're cooking, then count me in!"

"Great! But what were you here for in the first place?" I asked, placing the bags in the kitchen and moving toward the living room.

"Nothing much. It's been a while since we last met because of all the missions and stuff, so I had some free time and thought I'd visit," she said.

"That's good."

"Are you going to start cooking now?"

"No, I need to freshen up first. You can take those things to the kitchen. I'll be back in about 10-15 minutes," I said as I headed to my bedroom.

"10-15 minutes? What are you going to do with all that time?"

"It won't take long," I replied, entering my room and closing the door.

After a while, I finished my shower and changed into a new outfit. I walked out of my room.

"You took your sweet time. I was about to start cooking myself."

"Hey, it wasn't that long."

"Yeah, whatever. Let's get lunch ready first."

"Okay."

After a while, we sat at the dining table. I had made lunch with some help from Karin. As we sat down and the food was served, I said, "We should've invited more of my friends. It would've been more fun."

"Yeah, but don't act like eating lunch with me is boring."

"Hey, when did I say that?"

"Anyway, I have some questions for you, but let's eat first," she said.

"Okay, as you say," I replied. As we started eating, I added, "I really forgot how good my cooking is."

"Yeah, it's not bad," she said. "Now, about my question, Naruto. I heard about what you did."

"Are you talking about the Danzo situation? Don't worry, it's already taken care of."

"Yes, I know it's handled. But I've heard that many people in the village aren't happy with how you do things."

"The way I work? What do you mean?"

"Well, when I said many people, I meant mostly the village council members. They think you act too recklessly."

"Those old geezers? Come on, Karin, even you should know their opinions don't matter to me. They're just fools and cowards who think they know everything and can control everyone."

"Well, if it doesn't matter to you, then I guess I have no reason to worry either."

"Of course, it shouldn't worry you. Now eat without any stress."

"Yes, I guess," she said.

After a while...

"Okay, I should get going then," she said.

"Okay. Bye then. See you later," I said as she waved and left.

It was a good time. Anyway, I have to visit Granny today...
