Chapter 40 - 40 Sibling Dynamics

{NYX POV}

Deep within the realm of dreams, Nyx paid no attention to what was happening around her as she kept on sleeping on the comfort of her own arms. Granted, sleeping on a table wasn't the most dignified of methods for a goddess to take a nap, the Goddess of Chaos wasn't any other goddess. No, she was very much the antithesis of a graceful god. She was Chaos personified, one whose personality is just as much in flux as her own Aspect. There was nothing for her to be sorry about it, however. If she was being annoying to them, then all she could do was apologize and get on with their lives. It was what she was created for, and it was just her nature to be as random as she was right now.

In her dreams, she was a formless entity, one that constantly shifted and changed depending on her whims. Her favored form will always be the body she was born with, however, especially as the God Father Himself was the one that birthed her into existence.

"Wakey wakey..."

A soft poke echoed in Nyx's dreams as she remained floating in the darkness of space. She didn't know what that was, but she didn't care as she let her power flow through her. Her formless entity shifted once more, letting her take her usual form as she made a chair made of pure Chaos for her to sit on. Her surroundings then changed, shifting into one of a high-end restaurant where she was the VIP.

"Ooh~ Tasty~" she giggled as she was served plate after plate of delicious food. "Don't mind if I do~"

Without a care in the world, Nyx dove in. Ignoring any and all decorum, she didn't note how all of the waiters looked like Riku and Shizu as they waited to her every whim. She laughed and ate, enjoying her dream like she was deep within her own Realm. She was, as some of her siblings would call her, a gremlin, a description that Nyx herself didn't really care all too much about. In fact, she reveled being labeled as a troublemaker... Well, whenever she was in one of her vindictive streaks, at least.

Or perhaps that was just what she told herself whenever she heard Big Brother Tyche call her that. Big Brother Astra once called her that as well, but his tone suggested that it was more affectionate than anything else. And now here she was dreaming, her world shifting to her whims once again as she was now a small little gremlin wreaking havoc across the Deep Blue, a mischievous smile forming on her face as drool dripped down her half-open mouth.

"Nyx..."

Another soft poke pressed itself onto her cheek. She didn't know where it came from, but she didn't really care. There was also a voice calling out to her. A woman... her voice melodious and familiar... Almost like her Big Sis Kali, if she was actually thinking.

"Nyx, wake up."

Yet another poke. Followed by another. At this point, she was actually starting to get annoyed. Her dreams were one of the few things she had where she could do whatever she wanted without disrupting any sort of balance of power or some other thing her siblings wanted her to care about. She wasn't even allowed to do whatever she wanted to her own Realm! Well, she was, but she wasn't allowed to go overboard for some reason.

"Come on, Nyx... Don't make me go in your dream to wake you again..."

Nyx frowned as the voice came to her stronger now. She was starting to come around as her physical body stirred, and her mind was starting to whir as she recognized the voice trying to wake her. A part of her wanted to jolt awake, but she really didn't want to wake up yet.

Not that it stopped her from waking up anyway, but she could at least pretend that she was still eager to sleep.

"Five more minutes, sis...." Nyx mumbled as she buried her face deeper into her arms, ignoring the calming presence of her big sister seated in front of her.

"Aww... Is that anyway to talk to your favorite sister, Nyx?" the calm and soothing voice of Kali lilted in her ears. "Do you not care to have a chat while waiting for our Champions?"

Groaning, Nyx rolled her eyes as she raised her head to stare at her eldest sister. "Didn't we just talk like a few days ago?" she sighed.

"You just said that it's been a few days ago already," Kali lightly chuckled, her robes almost flowing along with her slightest movements as she placed her hands on her lap. "I just want to check on you, is all."

Nyx pouted as she watched her big sister raise her hand to affectionately pet her head. Reaching underneath her hood, Kali smiled at her as she giggled, her voice as melodic as it has always been like the flow of water that she had domain over.

"Well, you just did, sis," Nyx grumbled, her cheeks flushing red in embarrassment at being babied yet again. "I don't need to be looked after, Big Sis Kali."

"And yet you still like being treated like this," Kali pointed out with a faint and elegant smile. "There's no shame in accepting love being given to you."

The Goddess of Chaos let out another sigh even as she did her best to retreat inside her hood. She didn't have the heart to deny what Kali just said to her. She did like being treated like this... being treated like family instead of being bullied like usual. Still...

"Didn't you just call me a troublemaker a while ago?" Nyx asked in doubt and suspicion. "Why are you treating me like this?"

At her words, Kali looked scandalized as the hand petting her head froze in shock. "Why would you think that? That was a while ago, Nyx," she explained with a soft frown. "I love you just like any of our siblings, you know. It's just normal sibling dynamics, is all."
