When Abi opened her eyes in the morning, she had thought a wedding dress might be waiting for her on the chair.
Or the maids would tell her that she had to leave to sign the papers but it was a perfectly ordinary day. She looked around and found nothing had changed. But the thought startled her.
She was sleeping in a soft bed with a fur blanket on her. The food was waiting for her already when she woke up and the air smelled like lemons. So clean that she has forgotten coughing completely. She was wearing a new silk gown that was softer than before and fit her better. Her sleepers were fur and there was a large carpet that covered the room.
And it had gold flowers on it. How could any of this be ordinary? She was sure even heaven would fail in comparison. People would die or kill to be here. And it was all because she had red hair and golden eyes.
