Chapter 55 - Building a Home

After half an hour of searching for a good spot, I finally found it in the right corner of the 18th floor. Revealing myself from the bushes, I noticed a dungeon wall hidden behind three trees and thick greenery.

Behind that hidden spot, a very small clear spot was located, starting directly at the sturdy dungeon wall behind it. When I was sure that this was the place, I had to check how to activate my ability.

The first thing that crossed my mind was to focus on the name of the ability, hoping it would activate the moment I thought of it.

"The Key and the Gate..."

I closed my eyes and thought about it, but nothing happened. It felt like the ability was trolling me.

"The Key and the Gate..."

Still, nothing happened, but I kept trying out of sheer stubbornness. Azathoth never explained how to use this ability, so I figured I had to focus hard enough for it to work.

"The Key and the Gate..."

"The Key and the Gate!"

"THE KEY AND THE GATE!!!"

I yelled in frustration, and suddenly, I felt a strange sensation wash over me—not just in my body, but through my entire soul. A shiver ran down my spine as a light blue glow briefly flared up and vanished.

My hands started glowing a dark green. I tried punching the dungeon wall, only to find it still intact, just as sturdy as ever. Confused, I stared at my hands, wondering if the ability had worked at all.

Minutes passed as I tried various things—punching, placing blocks, and even attempting to open some sort of inventory. Nothing worked. I was starting to think the ability was some kind of joke from Azathoth.

Just then, the Necronomicon appeared out of nowhere, flying straight into my face like I was some sort of fool. It hit me squarely, then flipped its pages on its own, revealing a page I hadn't seen before.

"The Key and the Gate... a note from Azathoth. To use this ability, you need to imagine the structure you want to build. Then, you'll enter 'Creation Mode.'"

As soon as I finished reading, the book smacked me in the face again before disappearing into thin air. I was left speechless—Azathoth was scolding me.

Thinking over what had just happened, I closed my eyes and imagined building a home inside the wall. As I pictured placing doors, interior items, and decorations, the wall began to warp.

The first thing I visualized was a large enough space inside the wall to live comfortably. I imagined a cozy, small home. A fantasy-style wooden bed appeared, with a nice wooden table beside it, topped with a chocolate cake.

On the walls, I imagined paintings from my previous life—scenes of my hometown, the town park, and other familiar sights. The house wasn't large, but I pictured a bedroom, a bathroom, and a main hall where I could relax and come and go.

In the bathroom, I envisioned a stone bath with endless hot water, flowing from a crystal embedded within. The water would vanish when turned off. Naturally, the room had everything a typical bathroom would, even if I didn't need it—it added to the cozy atmosphere.

The main hall had a comfortable couch and a fireplace—though the fire was produced by a fire crystal, so there was no smoke or risk of burning the house down. I lined the walls with bookshelves filled with titles from both my past life and this world.

This ability was only as powerful as my knowledge of things. If I hadn't seen something in person or didn't know how it looked or functioned, I couldn't create it.

Finally, I visualized a door that only I could open—strong enough that not even a Level 8 adventurer could force it.

When I finished, the blue light passed through me again, and my hands stopped glowing. I opened my eyes and found myself standing outside, facing the fancy door embedded in the dungeon wall.

There were no windows, as I didn't want to risk someone breaking in if they found this place. The door was wooden but incredibly sturdy, impossible to open even with Perseus's magic items or Ottar's beast form strength. Even better, the dungeon couldn't destroy it.

I approached the door and calmly opened it, stepping into a cozy, fantastical interior. The wooden walls and decorations gave the place a lively feel.

I had created the door without a lock, designed so it would only open for me and close automatically when I left. If anyone managed to enter, they'd be thrown out instantly, no matter how powerful they were.

I was beginning to realize just how powerful "The Key and the Gate" truly was. It allowed me to bypass this world's natural limits and rules. Not only that, but I could also create things from another world, provided I could imagine them.

If that were the case, I could probably create a car in this fantasy world—but I wasn't sure yet, as I had just started using the ability.

Setting that thought aside, I inspected the rooms and was pleased with the results. In the bedroom, there was a huge wallpaper of a vast forest behind the bed.

The entire home was perfect, even if I didn't need the bed, bathroom, or other items. It didn't hurt to have them.

My work was done, so I decided to lie down and let time pass. But my moment of peace was short-lived. The sound of rustling leaves outside caught my attention.

"I'm going to kill whoever that idiot is."
