Tai had successfully gotten hold of the exquisite chair and steadied himself with it. This was perhaps the most crazy thing he had ever done.
Runic sorcery was meant to be done in absolute concentration.
Yet here he was, preparing to draw runes despite the ship being tossed about like a rag doll.
Sighing, he closed his eyes and circulated his energy, which turned out to be a horrible idea as the ship swayed once again, throwing him off balance.
"Damnation!"
The red haired teenager cursed as he rubbed his aching head.
He got up on his feet and repeated the process again, only for the same thing to happen over, over, and over again.
"Aargh!!" Tai wanted to scream out in frustration.
Merely standing up was already a problem, not to talk more of standing up, while circulating energy round his body and towards the exquisite chair, while trying to maintain absolute concentration and keep the energy connection intact, while drawing an unstable rune that one mistake would make the chair crumble into dust at the same time.
But even if the red haired teenager had not learned anything worthwhile from the Time Loop and the black dragon, minus perfecting his sorcery, he had at least learnt resillence and had obtained a never give up attitude.
Kind of.
He had died hundreds of times at the dragon's maw, yet persevered and managed to kill the mighty beast, so he would manage to successfully draw the summoning rune on the exquisite chair no matter how many times he fell, how hard the ship rocked, and how high the sky tides were.
But could he, though?
He had only managed to kill the mighty obsidian Dragon with the help of his companions, Nikki and Claire.
Without them, he would probably have died a couple hundred more times before he would be able to even hurt the mighty beast.
However, in this case, the silver haired teenage girl and the blonde haired clairvoyant were out cold due to energy exhaustion.
When a person exuded too much mana energy in a short period of time, they would suffer from energy exhaustion.
This was a very deadly situation for a Protector as they would be left defenceless within a harrowing Time Storm, a deadly FlashBack, or some dangerous Memory.
An energy exhausted person would not be able to access any of their abilities from their energy core at all.
Not even the superhuman strength and speed every Unlocked had.
Nikolah and Claire had expended an enormous amount of energy in the battle against the black dragon, and even more so while their bodies were trying to heal themselves.
Thus, the two teenage girls could not even stay awake and conscious. And judging by the complete depletion of their energy cores, they would not be getting up anytime soon.
So, Tai was on his own in this one.
Sighing, the red haired teenager steadied himself once again.
"Well, it's not like they could have helped anyways."
It was true. Nikolah and Claire would have been completely useless in this situation. They knew nothing about runic sorcery to begin with.
In fact, Tai himself would not have known about runic sorcery if not for...
"Where the hell is that narcissistic sword wraith in the first place?!"
The red haired teenager had not heard from the ancient sorcerer since they had entered the time loop.
Without Amirax, he had not been able to learn new things about runic sorcery, but he had also been able to focus on the things he had learnt so far.
So in a weird, twisted way, the sudden dissapearance of the ancient sorcerer was as much a curse as it was a blessing.
Anyways, he had successfully steadied himself and began to circulate his energy around himself and towards the chair, when the ship rocked once more.
However, this time, Tai was ready. He leaned forward while clutching fast to the steering of the ship, making himself align with the angle the ship had been tossed in, then when the ship was back up straight, he had not fallen, nor had he lost concentration.
Heck, the energy connection hadn't even been broken.
Smiling to himself, the red haired teenager circulated the energy around and concentrated them in his finger tips.
It was time to draw the rune.
