Chapter 35 - Certain Doom

The red haired teenager stared grimly at the awe inspiring scene in front of him. Honestly, on a normal day he would have marvelled in wonder, but today, he stared on. Frozen in fear.

Nikki staggered to her feet, her pristine face white and pale from fear.

"T... Tai? What the hell is going on!"

Tai could only glance at her, while he stared darkly at the blonde girl who was still unconscious on the floor and shook his head gloomioy.

"Claire's prophecy..... is going to kill us all."

Then the world went dark as both a streak of lightning hit the ship, a sky tide over turned it, a tornado out of nowhere threw it off course, and a hurricane coming from above tossed it hundreds of feet, all at the same time, making the ship quickly plummet through the depths of the time storm.

Tai grunted as he struggled to maintain his energy. The prophecy was right. He would not let them die just like that.

He had never tried using the shadow dragon as there hadn't been a need yet.

Heck, he hadn't even tried to experiment with it and see what it could do. Bit whatever it was, it would probably be awesome since he had a Divine level system.

The level of the system a person had greatly increased the Energy output of an attack. If a person could make one fireball with an Awakened level system, then someone with an Ascended level system would be able to make four. If a person could burn a house in seconds using an Ascended level system, then a person with an Evolved level system would burn a block in the same time in nanoseconds.

That was just how it was. If Tai were to be a Fire affiliated, or an Ice affiliated, he would have probably been the strongest in the entire school. But he was stuck with Summoning.

However, the Shadow Dragon summon was not any ordinary summon. It was literally the soul essence of an actual dragon. Dragons were extremely powerful mythological level beasts powerful enough to decimate an entire cohort of skilled powerful Protectors, but three teenagers had defeated it with scheming and distractions. A system increased the power of attacks, skills and pretty much anything a Protector did using their ability. Tai had a Divine level system, and the Shadow Dragon summon was a mythical level.

This meant that it would also be boosted to a Divine level while keeping it's original strength as a bonus.

Thus, the first thing Tai did as soon as the raging storm had attacked their ship was to summon the strongest weapon in his soul arsenal.

The description for the Shadow Dragon read:

[A mystical creature once took refuge on a beautiful island filled with treasures. It was beautiful, it was perfect. However, the island was already occupied by a more harrowing beast.

One that had lived for centuries on end, a beast immune to death. And so a fierce battle began. The mighty dragon almost fell, but managed to survive solely by it's amazing abilities using the shadows and darkness at it's disposal.

But a few hundred years after, a stubborn red head managed to slay it by dumb luck after dying by it's hand a hundred, hundred times.

This summon grants the user a familiarity with Darkness, and a manifestation of the Shadow Dragon in what ever form the user wishes]

Tai did not have the time to think in his perilous situation, but he knew that the Shadow Dragon summon would be the best choice because of the fact that it could be manifested in any form that he wished.

He did not know if it was limited to only dragon related stuff, but he would soon find out. A split second before the harrowing four elements of destruction had hit the ship, a dark veil of soul energy had spread around the ship in the shape of a ball.

The only disadvantage of having a high level system, was the massive energy consumption rate. An Ascended level system would only use a bit of energy in an attack, making weak attacks, but helping the user save their energy. However, an Ascended level system used four times as much energy in each attack, making very powerful attacks, but at the cost of the user's energy. This was quite a heavy cost, as a Protector without any energy was almost as helpless as a pig in a butcher shop. However, for this reason, most Protectors focused on creating a very powerful body for themselves in case they suffered from energy depletion. Heck, even Nikki could throw someone almost three times her body weight across a room, with only one hand for that matter.

However, no matter how strong his body could ever be, nothing but energy alone could save them from this predicament.

Not even luck, which he already had none of in to begin with.

Thus, the red haired teenager could only close his eyes and hope that his energy did not get exhausted, as energy exhaustion right now would not make him like a pig in a butcher shop, it would literally make him a pig that had already had it's head cleaved open.

It was certain doom.
