Dana tried to remember the events of that night, but the effort brought a sharp pain to her head. She winced, pressing her fingers to her temples.
"Are you okay?" Jolene asked, her voice filled with concern.
'of course I'm not damn okay, are you blind?!' she wanted to reply but, "Just a headache," Dana replied curtly, reminding herself about the temper control.
But as the evening wore on, her condition worsened. She developed a fever, and Jolene tended to her, placing a cool cloth on her forehead and ensuring she drank water.
The next morning, Dana woke up groggy. She blinked, adjusting to the light streaming through the window. 'urgh! Who placed the sun inside the building?!' she thought groggily.
Jolene was in the room, her back to Dana, a towel wrapped around her body. Dana noticed the intricate star and moon tattoo on Jolene's back and her pixie-cut hair.
