Johanna looked down and enjoyed the view of her enemies burning. She also spotted that some spiders came to take a look at what was happening, but once they saw the fire, they just retreated. After watching the situation unfold for a while, she turned around and left since there was nothing important happening anymore. But as she stepped only a few metres away, she heard a sudden explosion. She didn't know where it came from, so she turned around to take a closer look again. Her eyes flew over the objects in the cave, but she found nothing out of the ordinary, so she looked again, and this time she noticed something interesting.
Once the fire touched one of the spiders jewel-like eggs, they exploded with the strength of regular tnt. She was very surprised by the fact and guessed it was some weird chemical reaction, but since she couldn't step down or analyse the eggs anymore, it didn't matter that much to her. As Johanna heard a few more explosions going off, she turned around again and just walked back out of the cave again. Once she reached the exit of the cave, she chatted a bit with Noah but decided she wanted to keep a lookout in case any smoke arose in the area. She also knew that if there was some smoke that would come out in the vicinity, the spiders would get out of the cave before the smoke, which could surprise the Aikos team or even lead to a surprise attack on our base.
Since she didn't want anything this dangerous to happen, she told Noah and the rest that she would climb on a nearby tree or something to get a better view. They just agreed and kept guarding the bellow and the entrance to the goblin cave. While she did climb a tree to gain a vantage point, she had a completely different plan.
As she sat at the top of the tree, she imagined her arms turning broader and thinner until they were shaped like stretched pancakes. Once that was completed, she wanted them to gain feathers. It started slowly, as only a few appeared all over her arms, but after concentrating very hard, all of her arms were covered in bird feathers. As her arms were turned into wings, she imagined her whole body taking on the form of a bird. She succeeded with this and tried to move on to the next step: flying.
Johanna knew that this wouldn't be easy since it was a completely new set of skills that she hadn't acquired yet. It was like trying to learn how to walk again. Her first idea before taking off was to hollow out her bones like the birds on earth, but she wasn't sure if that was required or if it would be better to keep them solid in case of an "emergency landing" that was very likely to happen. Johanna had small doubts about herself, but she decided to just take the leap and hope for the best.
Johanna stretched out her feathery arms, feeling excited. The wind rushed through the trees, telling her it was time to fly. She took a deep breath and pushed off the branch.
For a moment, everything seemed to stop. The ground came nearer and nearer. Johanna was about to crash into the floor, but then Johanna's wings started flapping from themselves, lifting her up. It felt amazing as she soared higher and higher. Looking down, she saw the world below changing into patches of green and brown. She felt stronger and more confident with each flap of her wings, more sure of herself.
Flying through the sky, Johanna couldn't help but admire the beauty around her. The wind rushed past her, inviting her to continue flying forever. Below, the world waited for her to be discovered, but she had another important mission to complete, and that was finding any potential spider swarms flooding out of the cave. But Johanna had to admit that soaring through the sky was a liberating and enjoyable experience.
"Are you enjoying it?"
Johannas wings left a flap out, so surprised was she when she heard the voice. She looked around and spotted another bird flying right next to her.
"Is that you, Shapeshifter?"
"Yes, now answer my question: are you enjoying it?"
"Yes, you're completely right; this is one of the best feelings and moments of my life. The only thing I can remember that felt this good was your dick."
This time it was the shapeshifter who skipped a flapp and lost some altitude, surprised by her vulgar answer.
"Not very ladylike, but I guess that's no problem for me."
The two laughed over each other's jokes and continued flying together until Johanna spotted a cloud of smoke coming out of the ground.
