Chapter 5 - 5: Items sold

"Thank you for guarding them." She told me quietly as if I had just done her a huge favor before she went back to performing for the crowd.

I was right in my earlier observations. This woman was dangerous. I don't think my heart can take the amount of sincerity that was oozing out of her.

I helped her move the items from the wagon to one of the more bigger stands in the area, I tried keep my mind off of the gathering crowd around us by observing some of the items that were in the pile.

They were of some great quality by the mana that was emitting from them, the craftsmanship looked good as well, I don't see any blemishes or cracks on the blades when I held them. Although, I see that swords haven't really changed in shape much in the time that I was gone.

Tiana went to work as soon as the last item was set on the table.

The first few line of items didn't look too important with what I can observe, but with the way that Tiana presented them felt like the item was akin to that of a soul weapon. She was really good at what she does, the smile on her face unrelenting even when there were some obvious haters in the crowd, flipping her off and throwing tomatoes.

I could have cut their heads off but that would mean disrupting the flow of the presentation and Tiana would lose her trust with the people. That's not really helping her huh?

Damn I'm learning fast. Maybe I'm actually good at this whole helping thing.

The next line of products were of higher price with the amount of numbers that were now displayed on the sign she held. This time her description felt like an adventure. An underdog grabbing one of her items were the equivalent of being able to slay a Grade C monster without help from anyone.

Her methods worked wonders. The area turned into a mini auction, prices climbed for the items that were obviously better than the previous items shown.

It got worse when the third line up came up. The prices didn't go too high from the previous line up but the quality was obviously better than what was previously given. The shouting got worse and arguments were starting to get more and more rampant.

I don't think it's a good idea by holding this mini auction in the public where the rules there don't apply here. I would have started to get worried and stabby if it weren't for how easily Tiana handled the situation.

"Tpiewi viqiqfiv xlex ai evi mr e tyfpmg wtegi." Her voice was firm and so was her face. She reminded me of a disappointed mother with how she crossed her arms, "Ercsri als mw xlmromrk sj hsmrk wsqixlmrk mrhigirx almpi M wipp qc xlmrkw ampp fi ferrih jvsq exxirhmrk jsv e qsrxl."

That calmed the crowd significantly. What once was a mess of arguments and shouting now turned to soft murmurs and murderous glares.

The show continued and I was starting to wonder what item could it be that would grab the attention of this man Tiana was talking about. From past descriptions, would it be another sword? Another weapon? Armor? Tiana's got a variety of things, it's kind of a wonder.

My questions were soon answered when the fifth and last line up came. Most of the crowd had already dispersed, with a few fancy looking people left. Tiana didn't look exhausted one bit when she had been speaking nonstop for almost two hours. I think the dryness she should be experiencing by now was transferred to me which shouldn't be possible in a magical sense.

At this point, I wasn't surprised at the long string of numbers when the prices of the line up were shown.

Despite how quieter the crowd seemed, the tension felt more dangerous than when the crowd was literally screaming threats down each other's throats. It was worrying. Tiana doesn't seem to think so, the smile on her face growing wider as someone from the crowd climbed the price higher and higher.

I was starting to get increasingly bored when the scene stayed the same. All the items were being sold to one person in the end, no matter how high the stakes were climbing, they were the ones to get the items in the end.

Intriguing, but the predictability was starting to get boring. There were some interesting competition, especially when Tiana started to count down on one person that wasn't from that one man but it was for naught when the man talked so suddenly last minute and suddenly I'm back to being bored out of my mind.

The sun felt good though. There was a distinct warmth to it today.

I look to the crowd outside of the big bubble that Tiana has made. There were a lot of glances toward us but no one made a move to join us after they saw who were the ones left to be buying.

Outside of the unusualness of these people, I watched them walk from one stall to another observing and purchasing the products from the stalls that they went through. It was interesting only for a few minutes before Tiana's show took mine and quite a few people's attention.

There was an explosion at where Tiana was just standing.

I jumped down and appeared by her side in a blink of an eye, casting a shield around us before running out of potential attacking range. With my eyes still fixed on the smoke, I asked her, "Are you alright?!"

Tiana coughed roughly as I set her down, although she still leaned heavily on her. There weren't any injuries that I should worry about her. She looked rather unaffected by the explosion. "I'm fine- GET THE METAL!"

Tiana stumbled as I ran back toward the explosion. Watching closely, the mana started to form in distinguishable figures in the smoke. A lot of people were running away from where the explosion had occurred but there were a handful that were trying to make their way to Tiana's stand.

I quickly dispatched the least dangerous ones, quickly cutting off their legs before blitzing toward the fastest one that was trying to get to the metal.

The smoke finally cleared out as I punched the man square in the face, flinging him to the farthest building from the force. I made sure that the metal and the rest of Tiana's products was safe and in tact before turning to the audience that I had.

The thieves that got their legs cut off were currently screaming their lungs out as they stared at their missing and bleeding limbs. The remaining bidders stood stoic, some looked annoyed that I suspected to be apart of the whole situation.

I was about to confront them when I felt a presence suddenly appear behind me.

"M geqi figeywi Xmere xsph qi xlex wli asyph fi wippmrk wsqixlmrk xlex M asyph jmrh mrxiviwxmrk."

I turn around slightly, glaring at the tall man. He flinched as he reached my gaze but he didn't step back or back down. He looked too clean for a place like this, reminding me of those 'customers' that would usually come down to my cell in the tower.

He looked around at the destruction and whistled, "Xs xlmro xlex wli asyph qeoi wygl e qiww... erh csy..." I easily dodged a pitiful attempt for grabbing my throat. I grabbed his outstretched arm and kicked the back of his knees before pushing him to the ground.

"Wait!" Tiana placed a hand on my shoulder just as I let go of the man's arm. She glanced at the screaming men that were still bleeding from having their legs cut off then back at the current situation, "Let's try not to add more fuel to the fire..."

The man slowly stood up, holding onto his shoulder with a pained expression, "Cleathean?" He turned to Tiana, "Alivi hmh csy jmrh e Cleathean jsv e fshckyevh?!"

Tiana waved her arms around, "M'pp ibtpemr qsvi pexiv!" She quickly made her way to the screaming men while dragging me with her, "Let's get these people for some medical treatment. They'll die if they keep bleeding out."
