"What on earth is going on, Rou Rou!" Meng Shaomei was even more anxious than him.
Bai Wanrou aimed a resentful look toward her mother. Maybe if she had let her go out last night, this wouldn't have happened. Yan had assured her that they won't be separated, but she was still terrified.
"I don't know."
"How could you not know!" Bai Shengqi's tone was harsh because of his agitation.
"How on earth would she know what tactics your favored daughter used to manipulate Elder Su into doing that!" Meng Shaomei didn't expect Bai Xue to have such capabilities. She was irritated and scared that they might lose even more this time.
Mentioning Bai Xue made Bai Shengqi's complexion worsen. He didn't know what kind of sin he had committed in his past life to have a daughter like Bai Xue!
"Rou Rou, what did Su Yan say?" Meng Shaomei questioned. Even though Elder Su was charmed by Bai Xue, as long as Su Yan's heart remained with her daughter, they hadn't entirely lost!
"Yan said he would never marry Bai Xue — he would handle the matter."
Bai Shengqi and Meng Shaomei's hearts strained with tension, eased considerably after hearing Yan's promise.
They both felt that with Yan's pledge, there was no way he would marry Bai Xue.
Bai Wanrou wasn't as relieved as them; the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. The more she pondered, the stronger her urge to confront Bai Xue.

At the timid voice, Bai Xue raised her head from the piles of documents.

Bai Xue raised her head, darted her hand a quick glance, prompting Bai Wanrou to quickly retract hers.
"Sister Xue, I'm begging you to let Yan and me go. Please." Her pitiful state was quite heart-wrenching.
Unfortunately, Bai Xue wasn't the type to sympathize. She smirked, her smile dripping with irony.
When she was targeted by Su Yan, did they ever consider letting her off?
"Sister Xue, I wanted to talk to Yan that night, but my mother wouldn't let me. As long as you let us go, I promise that Yan will never go against you from now on!" Bai Wanrou had no regard for her mother's expectation now; all she wanted was to secure her love life.
"Your promises? What are they worth? How can I even trust them?" Bai Xue knew clearly what kind of a person Bai Wanrou was. The promise she was making now was to secure Su Yan. But once the crisis passed, she'd still listen to her mother and allow Su Yan to harm her again.
Any soft-heartedness for Bai Wanrou amounted to cruelty to herself!
Despite her exterior composure, Bai Xue managed to instill a sense of fear in Bai Wanrou, making her stutter, "I..."
"Leave." Bai Xue wouldn't change her decision based on her pleas, so it was pointless to continue the conversation.
"Sister Xue, you do not love Yan. Don't destroy our happiness for a moment of anger, please?" Despite her fear, Bai Wanrou insisted. She couldn't give up this easily!
Who said she doesn't love him? Who the hell was Bai Wanrou to assert defiantly that she didn't love Su Yan?
