Raven hears a loud ring which wakes her up and right above her head is a system message floating in the air
[Congratulations on your transmigration!
Preference number: 1
Book name: The Flower of War
Character name: Verian Innocente ]
' What is this? A system message? ' she thought, the system looked exactly like it was described in most novels. so it wasnt hard to recognize.
Half-asleep, she reads the text ettched across the floating system, her mind grappling with the suddenness of its appearance. Is this reality or a dream?
'My transmigration has been accepted? 'she questioned. The rapid acceptance caught her off guard. How could her transmigration be approved in less than a day? The mysterious process left her both bewildered and intrigued.
'What does that say? The Flower of War?'
She squints her eyes and looks closely at the message
'Woah, that was my last choice. Did all my other applications get declined?'
Out of all the books she applied for how could she end up in this one? Still, she wasn't bothered by it because the only character she applied for in this book was a side character who lived a care free life so it didn't matter.
'It's fine, it doesn't really matter, I'm only a side character like Vevian-'
Her thought gets interrupted as she looks closer at the message
Character name: Verian Innocente
'Wait, what? Verian? With an R?' Her mind raced, grappling with the suddenness of this revelation. How could she possibly be Verian, a character she had never applied for? The room around her seemed to echo the same sense of wonder. It resembled something straight out of a fantasy novel: grand glass windows, a pink canopy bed, an elegant desk, a full-length mirror, 2 luxurious couches, and a coffee table between them. The space was much fancier than a dungeon, it was a setting befitting a noble lady in the pages of a captivating novel.
'What happened? How could my transmigration be accepted in less than a day?'
She was very confused and a lot of thoughts were running through her head. She got out of bed and went to the fancy full-length mirror lined with gold on the opposite side of the room.
In the mirror, She saw a girl with pink hair and blue eyes.
' I really did become Verian. Wow, she's even more beautiful in person.'
She spent a few minutes checking out her new body which was so breathtaking while playing with her new hair that looked like cotton candy.
'Right! I was so distracted by her beauty I forgot to question this. Why am I Verian?'
She thought for a few minutes about every possible way, perhaps the transmigration system messed up or perhaps she's been betrayed or something. It didn't take her long to realize what it was though. After all, she was the daughter of Alexander Hale in her past life.
'That damn clerk! He must have gotten confused and told me the wrong order! And the Transmigration system must have mistook my v for an r."
She was now unsure of what to do. If she died, she could go back to her body but then she would never have the opportunity to transmigrate again. As much as she didn't want to be Verian, she didn't want to be herself either.
' I suppose I'll have to find a way to live as Verian. But why is it that I still remember the existence of the transmigration center? '
The transmigration center had a strict privacy policy that prevented its transmigrators from remembering the existence of the transmigration center. All information regarding the transmigration center gets deleted. Instead, the transmigrators would think they died because they were hit by a truck or something and have no idea how that caused them to transmigrate.
In reality, the transmigration center waits until the transmigrator falls asleep when the connection between soul and body is weakest and takes their soul and puts it in the body of someone else. Or so they say.
Most people don't actually know how the transmigration center works exactly. This is all mere speculation. Even the clerks don't know much. The center only shares the bare minimum of information.
Also for some reason, the original body becomes the transmigration center's property. No one knows why they want it, but frankly, no one who chooses to transmigrate ever cares why. All of them are desperate to leave their bodies anyway.
' Damn it. I wish I had more information on the transmigration center. Why do they have to keep everything so secret? I don't even know whether this world was based on the novel or if the novel was based on this world... ' whether it was the first option or the second option could greatly affect her idea of free will. Did she have free will? Or is she inclined to follow Verian's fate in the novel? If she does have free will, how much free will does she have? How much can she change?
'Though the transmigration center refuses to put up novels that have characters who are transmigrators in them, I still read many of them for fun back when people didn't read novels just as if they were travel guides to other worlds. In fact, most of the novels the transmigration center had were novels I read before the transmigration center even opened. '
It was thanks to the fact that she had read transmigration novels where people transmigrated as villains and unwanted characters that she managed to formulate a plan fast.
'Obviously, I can't just do what Verian does otherwise I will be "the tragic female lead who dies halfway through the war without anyone noticing." What kind of author kills off their female lead halfway through their novel? It's so ridiculous that it almost seems like the author was writing a historical biography not a romance novel. Not that anyone would call it a romance novel. Anyway, I can't just try and avoid everything Verian does because not only is it impractical but I would also lose my biggest advantage. Which is the fact I know the future thanks to the novel. '
There were far too many things for her to consider, this whole transmigration thing felt like it had a lot of paradoxes and inconsistencies and she was also lacking a great deal of information. So she decided to try and do what most people in similar circumstances in the novels she read did. Which is to act stupidly and miraculously survive thanks to plot armor.
