Chapter 27 - Familiar Summon

A day has gone by and all Mikeal has done is rest. He travelled for months barely getting by with half an hour's rest just so he could get to Eworin land as fast as possible.

As well as exhausting his mana pool, those led to weighing heavily on his body and mind. A day's rest is little compared to the troubles he put his body through.

He got up and stretched his limbs to awaken their vigour after laying them dormant for a day.

"Anna". He looked around to see she was absent.

"Knowing her, she must have gone to survey the surroundings or to try and protect me from the villagers wrath". Mikeal smiled as he thought of several proceedings Anna could be up to, most of which are sure to be tied to his wellbeing.

Mikeal bit his right thumb to force out droplets of blood from him. He smeared the blood on the floor, using it to inscribe vague wordings.

"Is this the right way?...". He says, conflicted if he got it right.

When he was done inscribing, he stood in front of the wordings and clasped both hands as he chanted.

"Spirit Summon".

The inscriptions on the floor shone brightly, covering the whole room. It subsided with the appearance of a blue-stripped adult tiger.

"Siveth". He called, happy to see his innate companion after a long time of separation.

"I believe the agreement was to summon me after a year had gone by". She says.

Mikeal hurried and jumped on her fur without regard for her complaint.

"I missed you". He says, resting his head on her fur.

Seeing him do that made Siveth speechless and less prone to act out.

While they lived together, Mikeal would once in a while get this close to her as a way to remind himself that he wasn't alone and placate his wounded heart.

Siveth sensed that just like those times, something had gone wrong and that is why he was acting out like this.

She did not trouble him with questions. Rather, Siveth allowed him to rest as much as he wanted, showing him that she would be there for him whenever and however needed, even if silently.

...

"Are you feeling better now". She inquired, sighting Mikeal seated on his four-seater couch.

"I am".

"Then you don't have any problem telling me what happened". She says, expressing her suspicion.

"I created a new skill and exhausted my mana pool as you termed it".

"What!". Siveth panicked.

"I-".

"I know what you did". She interrupted as he was about to repeat himself. "I am in awe of how you could do something so dangerous".

"Dangerous?!".

He wondered what part of what he said now sounds dangerous. He didn't encounter any trouble with both, well except for tiring himself out with mana exhaustion.

That alone shouldn't be considered dangerous since he was able to recover the lost mana within a day.

"Both! Both are dangerous. You could have lost your life if things had gone the other way".

Obvious of his expression, she knew Mikeal wasn't getting her point as she too was not very straight.

"Listen here. What do you think is the source of your mage abilities".

"My blessing". Mikeal answered.

It's obvious from how the status wordings are lined that without his blessing, he wouldn't gain any abilities. His druid magic is represented by the divine tree blessing and other skills are represented by the druid magic.

This only links to the divine tree as the very source of his mage existence.

"That is... Not wrong".

It wasn't the answer she was expecting but appeared to be the right answer. It struck Siveth when she saw that she had asked the wrong question.

"Okay, what about your abilities application? How do you think you can use your abilities as you see fit".

She smirked. This was the question she wanted to ask and surely, if he was wise enough to see Mikeal would no doubt render her the answer she was expecting.

"Do you mean my mana".

"Yes, exactly. It is precisely because you have your mana stored in your mana pool located in your body. That is the only reason you can manifest and create wonders as a mage".

Siveth explained to him the importance of mana and the dues of being a mage.

These were explanations that should have been done a long time ago but couldn't due to the sudden disappearance of Siveth.

On the day that Siveth proposed a familiar contract to Mikeal, she went away.

Before she was attached to Mikeal, Siveth had once been the familiar of Mikeal's mother. On her dying bed, she made Siveth promise to watch over Mikeal and make him her next contractor.

While Siveth had no problem adhering to her request, there was just one tiny difficulty attached! Siveth is a spiritual entity originating from the spirit world. She is not of this world and thus needs a contractor to traverse between the two worlds.

Mikeal's mother as her original contractor is her very link to this world. Her death itself would bring about severance of the contract and Siveth forcefully dragged back to the spiritual realm she comes from.

To complicate matters, Mikeal was newly born and too risky to form a familiar contract with him. Hence, she has no choice but to leave the material world after the death of his mother.

But! There are certain instances for spirits familiar to reside in this world after the termination of the contract that brought them into the material world.

There is however a huge risk involved in the process.
