As soon as she defeated the three assassins, the maid got up and hurried to Mikeal's side. She saw that he had already woken up and was even confronting the leader of the assassins.
The maid wanted to step in to help but she feared there was no chance for her to. Mikeal's stern expression warned her to stay at bay.
Mikeal walked to Siveth. He crouched down and took a look at her wound.
"I am fine". She says, puttting Mikeal in surprise.
"Siveth... You can talk". He asked, baffled at the voice he heard. "Since when, since when can you talk". He added, thirsty for an explanation.
"I have been able to since forever. It is you that could not hear me due to your inawakened form. It is different now that you have awakened". She responded.
"How". Mikeal questioned.
"Can you save that question for later. The enemy is charging at us now". She warned.
The leader came storming toward them, the tip of his sword still caught on fire. Mikeal stopped his movement by stretching out his hand to materialize thorns.
The thorns grew about seven feet out of the ground and acted like a wall, spreading around like a metal net with holes in it. Its growth speed was as astonishing as its height and features. Any who tries to get close will only end up succumbing to the pointy spikes in the thorn.
"He is a late first class. Engaging him in a long range battle will lead to your disadvantage as you will run out of mana quicker than he does". Siveth advised, clearly impressed by Mikeal's control over his magic properties.
Even though they are both first class mages, there is sure to be a distinct difference, a hierarchy. In comparison to Mikeal who had only just awakened, the assassin leader is an awakened with experience on his side.
Judging from how he is evading Mikeal's long-distance attack as well as how he so easily evaded Siveth's attack, she assumed him to have had experience going up against other mages.
If that is so, long-distance attack would only be drawing out the battle as it won't necessarily bring him down. Mikeal is also expending a lot more mana in comparison to him who is only focusing his mana on body enhancement.
No matter how much mana and precise control he has, it will all go to waste if he cannot land a single hit.
"What should I do". Mikeal inquired.
"Tap into your mana core, feel the flow of your innate mana and direct the flow through your bloodstream". She instructed.
"How do I do that". He pried.
His awakening filled him with knowledge of his skill know-how and also the properties of his druid magic, how to manually utilize it. It never said anything outside of that, nor does he understand what mana is and how to feel or direct it.
"That energy you feel released from your heart when you use magic? That is mana. Find a way to redirect the flow of that mana through your bloodstream. Doing that will shift your focus to being an enhancer instead of a conjurer". Siveth explained.
"Your Highness". The maid voiced as she came running toward him.
"You are okay". Mikeal asked, his focus shifted to observing her body.
"Yes your Highness. What about you". She asked, catching her breath.
"I am fine. Siveth is the one that needs attending to". He says.
"Don't worry about me. I am okay". Siveth responded, her body weighing on the ground.
"But your woun-". Mikeal paused, observing that she no longer had a stab wound on her body.
The fluid blood was coated on her fur, but the open spot where the blood flowed out from had closed.
"How!". He wondered.
"Save whatever questions you have for later. The assassin leader is enough bother to have you occupied". Siveth warned, reminding Mikeal of their predicament.
"Your Highness, I will help out". The maid volunteered.
"No. This is my fight to face alone".
Mikeal brought down the vine wall that had demarcated them from the assassin leader. He took his focus away from Siveth and the maid and gave his full attention to the assassin leader.
"Have I kept you waiting". Mikeal questioned the leader.
"Quiet the contrary". He responded, maintaining his stance.
"Over the years I have fought with several Magic wielders, and not once have I come across a vine mage. This should be fun". He praised, obvious excitement present in his tone.
"That smile of yours... I will turn it upside down". Mikeal declared.
