Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: I Don't Allow_1

Because she had made a promise with Ye Que, Chi Zaozao was determined to work extra hard in the two months leading up to the college entrance exam.

No matter what, she had to get into a university; only then would she be worthy of Ye Que and have the qualifications to marry him.

So, for the next two months, Zaozao became incredibly diligent in her studies, practically forgetting to eat or sleep.

Even when Miss Tang came to find her for fun, she didn't bother with her.

In fact, Miss Tang was brought in by Ye Que to help Zaozao review for her exams.

But Zaozao was ungrateful and immediately gave her the brush-off, "Wanyuan, I've told you, I have exams coming up and no time to hang out with you; go find your twin brother Tang Wanjun instead!"

Tang Wanyuan leaned against her desk, arms crossed, with a schadenfreude smirk on her face.

"Zaozao, do you really think I came to ask you to go shopping?"

Zaozao didn't even lift her head, continuing to copy the homework assigned by her teacher.

She had a poor memory and had to rote memorize a lot of the content; if she couldn't remember it, she'd just write it down over and over.

"Then what are you here for? Asides from dragging me with you to buy jewelry and designer brands, Miss Tang, I can't see what else you'd want to do."

"Hey!" Miss Tang was not pleased by her words, reaching out to pull Zaozao's ear and haughtily retorted, "Is this really how you see me? You ungrateful wretch, I'm here to help you review your studies."

Help her review?

Upon hearing this, Zaozao seemed quite surprised.

As for Tang Wanyuan, she was famously known as a top student in Ningdu City.

Zaozao still remembered how, during the high school exams in 2012, Wanyuan and her brother Wanjun, the twin siblings, each took the title of top scholar in arts and science respectively, making quite the sensation.

Zaozao grew up with the Tang siblings who were only two years older than her; thus, she knew everything about them.

Now hearing that Wanyuan wanted to tutor her, Zaozao couldn't be more eager, hurriedly pulling out a chair for her to sit.

"Miss Tang, I apologize for offending you earlier; please, let bygones be bygones. Impart some of your study techniques upon me, and if you help me get into a key university, I'll be willing to do anything for you, even if it means climbing a mountain of swords or descending into a pot of boiling oil."

Now she was flattering her.

Looking at her, Tang Wanyuan posed like an empress dowager, dropping her hands by her side, chin up, chest out, radiating dignity, "Since you're so sincere, then I shall fulfill your request. However, before I help you achieve your goal, you'll have to do something for me first."

"What is it?" Zaozao was already impatient.

Tang Wanyuan took out a box of chocolates from behind her and handed it to Zaozao.

Seeing it was a box of chocolates, the foodie in Zaozao eagerly accepted the gift, her eyes crinkling into lines as she smiled.

"Is this for me?" She was about to rip it open and eat it when her hand was suddenly slapped by Tang Wanyuan.

"It's not for you, you glutton; it's for Brother Ye Que."

"..."

For Ye Que?

Zaozao puzzled over why she, a girl, would give Ye Que a declaration of love in the form of chocolates out of the blue.

Could it be that she wanted to tell Ye Que she liked him?

Unhappy, Zaozao pushed the chocolates back towards Wanyuan, "Are you asking me to give this chocolate to Ye Que for you?"

Wanyuan nodded, "Yes!"

"You like Ye Que?"

Wanyuan nodded again, "You're just realizing this now?"

Zaozao was infuriated, "I know you like him; he's so outstanding, everyone does, but I didn't expect that you felt that way towards him. Tang Wanyuan, Ye Que is mine, and I won't allow you to covet him."
