Ye Que's face was cold and he remained silent, until Tang Wanjun finally broke the silence with a question, "Brother, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Ye Que's gaze was like that of a hawk, sharp and piercing.
This man seemed naturally to carry an air of superiority and nobility, as if everyone in his presence must submit.
Staring straight at Tang Wanjun, his voice was cold and determined, "Since Wanyuan is busy, and I presume you are too, I will not trouble the two of you anymore. I'll hire a professional tutor for Zaozao's tutoring, and I hope that before Zaozao's college entrance exams, you won't come to disturb her!"
His words seemed polite, but in reality, they carried an undertone of dismissal.
Tang Wanjun was not foolish—he understood exactly what Ye Que meant.
However, he didn't care.
Instead, he replied with a smile, "Brother, I'm not busy. I've been quite free lately, and besides, Zaozao is our Little Princess. She's facing her college entrance exams soon, and I, as her brother, should contribute my modest efforts."
"..."
"Plus, Zaozao mentioned that she finds my teaching methods easy to understand. We've agreed that I'll be her tutor from now on!"
It was quite apparent that Ye Que's expression was turning sour.
An indescribable chill emanated from him, cold enough to freeze the surroundings.
Tang Wanjun appeared indifferent, aware that getting him to leave Zaozao wouldn't be so easy!
"I said there's no need for you to tutor her!" His voice was frosty and bone-chilling, a command.
Tang Wanjun's lips twitched, his playful demeanor fading as he asked Ye Que, emotionless and cold, "Are you afraid that Chi Zaozao will fall in love with me?"
At this question, Ye Que's expression faltered, his serene gaze locking onto Tang Wanjun's eyes firmly.
But it was fleeting; he lowered his gaze, his attitude remaining indifferent, "Ridiculous!"
"Hmph!" Tang Wanjun sneered, crossing his arms and lifting a leg as he leaned back on the sofa, "Given all that, I truly don't understand why you refuse to let me tutor Zaozao, brother. You know very well that I've always excelled academically. Tutoring Zaozao has three benefits: first, I don't charge a tutoring fee; second, Zaozao and I grew up together, so I understand her learning style; and third, Zaozao herself is happy to have me as her tutor. So tell me, what's not to enjoy about that?"
Ye Que fell silent.
Thinking back to their conversation just moments ago in the room, he knew Chi Zaozao was indeed more than willing to have Tang Wanjun tutor her.
Had he gone mad? Why should he care about who tutors her? As long as she got into university, wouldn't that be enough?
He was being ridiculously unreasonable.
"Fine then, I'll leave her to you. If she fails to get into a top university, you'll have me to answer to," he declared.
As the words left his mouth, he got up, stormed out, and slammed the door behind him.
Tang Wanjun looked back at the door Ye Que had shut and felt a twinge in his heart.
He had finally passed this hurdle!
As long as Ye Que did not obstruct him from staying by Chi Zaozao's side, one day that girl would realize his worth.
With a wicked grin, Tang Wanjun stood up and returned to Chi Zaozao's room.
In the days that followed, as Tang Wanjun and Chi Zaozao had agreed, as soon as Zaozao finished school each day, Tang Wanjun would pick her up and take her mountain climbing. After reaching the summit, they would study at the top.
Every day, the pair wouldn't return home until eight or nine in the evening.
And everyone at home knew that Tang Wanjun was tutoring Chi Zaozao, so they didn't mind what time they got back.
Until tonight, when it was already midnight by the time Tang Wanjun dropped Chi Zaozao off at home.
Having just delivered Chi Zaozao to her doorstep, Tang Wanjun turned the car around and left.
Chi Zaozao entered through the Ye family's gate, thinking that everyone must be asleep by now, so she tried to move as quietly as possible, tiptoeing upstairs in an effort not to wake them!
But what she hadn't expected was that a man, instead of sleeping late into the night, was sitting upright on the living room sofa, waiting for her.
