Chapter 2 - Fire Meets Dimension

It was morning and Yuna woke up, stretched and yawned. Planeus wasn't there next to her. She was surprised him leaving didn't wake her up since she fell asleep against him. She wasn't a light sleeper but wasn't a heavy sleeper either. Planeus peered into the cave shortly after she woke up.

"Rise and shine Yuna. Ready to start training?" Planeus asked Yuna who nodded her head and followed the dragon out of the cave to a clearing in the forest.

"What I am about to teach you is called dragon slayer magic. It is magic taught by dragons that gives one the power to defeat a dragon. Specifically, you will be learning dimensional dragon slayer magic since I am the Great Dimensional Dragon. But before I teach you any of my moves, you must learn the fundamentals of magic and how to harness its power." Planeus explained as Yuna nodded. Planeus then started to explain all the basics on magic and how to sense it, harness and manifest it. It was too much to process for one day, so Planeus's lessons spanned over the course of a couple days. The next phase, phase 2, was putting that knowledge to use.

"Now that I've explained how to sense Ethernano or magical energy, it's time to try it. Go ahead, close your eyes and clear your mind. Focus solely on feeling the Ethernano around you." Planeus said as Yuna did as he instructed. She closed her eyes and tried to rid her mind of all thoughts. But her mind was racing with the thoughts of her home, her parents and best friend Izuku Midoriya. The more she tried to push those thoughts aside, the more vividly she saw them. She couldn't focus on anything but those things. She opened her eyes, a look of sadness appearing on her face.

"I can't do it. My head is filled with thoughts of home and the people I care about that I left behind." Yuna said starting to tear up as Planeus sighed.

"Look I'm gonna be honest with you. You're gonna have to forget about all that. Forget your family and friends, forget about home. You don't have to forget them permanently, just long enough to get through this exercise. And we may have to repeat this exercise many times until you are proficient in sensing magic power. Right now, these thoughts are intrusive and are preventing you from progressing in your training." Planeus said bluntly.

"Look at it this way. The thoughts of these people you care about are currently in the way of you getting back to them. You do want to see them again, right? You must let them go for now. Try it again." Planeus said firmly.

"Okay..." Yuna said as she closed her eyes and tried again to clear her thoughts. Once again, she saw her best friend Izuku and her mother and father staring back at her.

"I have to forget about you. I have to forget. Otherwise I may never be able to come back. So please, go away... Leave!" Yuna said mentally to the holograms of Izuku and her parents inside her head. They gave her a sad look before fading away. Then her mind was blank. Yuna breathed in deeply and focused on feeling the concentrations of Ethernano around her. Slowly but surely, she could start to pick up on the Ethernano signatures around her. She couldn't really explain how she could feel it. It was like a sixth sense.

"I feel it. It's faint, but I can feel it." Yuna said as Planeus chuckled.

"Eventually you'll be able to feel it easily without concentrating like this. It will all come naturally." Planeus said as Yuna opened her eyes and smiled up at the dragon who smiled back.

Over the next few days, Yuna worked on her ability to sense the Ethernano concentrations around her. And like Planeus said, she was starting to notice it without needing to focus on it. She was now ready for phase 3: harnessing her magic power and manifesting it.

"I believe you're finally ready to learn your first spell. The spell I'm going to teach you is an attack move: the breath attack. It's one of the signature moves of a dragon. My particular breath attack is called Dimensional Dragon's Roar. Now watch closely." Planeus said as he took a deep breath in. Yuna could sense Planeus's magic power accumulate as he readied himself to unleash his breath attack.

"Dimensional Dragon's Roar!" He bellowed and exhaled. A massive ray of shards of reality itself shot in the direction he breathed in, completely obliterating a large hill in the way of the devastating beam. Yuna's eyes practically popped out of their sockets at the impressive destruction.

"Now it's your turn. You can sense your own magic now. So breath in deep and channel your magical power into your breath attack as you exhale." Planeus said as Yuna did as he instructed and breathed in to prepare her attack.

"Dimensional Dragon's Roar!" Yuna said as she exhaled a small stream of reality shards left her mouth. Yuna pouted in disappointment. Planeus chuckled at her.

"Don't worry, as you grow stronger, so will your spells. But you need to keep up on your training in order to get stronger." Planeus told Yuna who nodded her head.

"Yes sir!" Yuna said with a determined smile on her face. Planeus chuckled at her enthusiasm and she continued the day's training.

Over the next week Yuna trained hard to increase the strength of her Dimensional Dragon's Roar as well as learned a couple new moves from Planeus including Dimensional Dragon's Wing Attack, Dimensional Dragon's Fist, Dimensional Dragon's Claw, Dimensional Dragon's Shattering Fang, Dimensional Dragon's Portal, Dimensional Dragon's Gateway, Dimensional Dragon's Void, Dimensional Dragon's Reality Break, and Dimensional Dragon's Reality Restoration. She also learned some Dragon Slayer's Secret Art moves too including Crystal Nova: Dimensional Dragon's Fist, Crystal Nova: Reality Shattering Blade, and Hidden Illusory Form - Crystal Nova: Reality Shockwave. She got training in hand-to-hand combat as well. As Yuna lived and trained with Planeus she started to see him like a second dad. He even taught her how to read and write. It was now June 19 and Yuna was in the middle of a training session with Planeus when suddenly a dark red dragon with beige wing membranes and belly interrupted it. He brought along a boy who looked a little older than Yuna. The boy had short spiky pink hair and onyx-colored eyes. He was wearing a red shirt, tan pants and a white scaly scarf around his neck.

"Hey Planeus, was that you who destroyed that hill in the distance a week ago?" The large red Dragon asked Planeus, pointing to the demolished hill that Planeus destroyed while giving Yuna a breath attack demonstration.

"Oh Igneel. Long time no see. Yes, that was me." Planeus admitted without hesitation.

"I thought you said you weren't going to use your magic anymore." Igneel said as Planeus reached up and scratched the back of his head with his claws.

"Well I took in a little girl and I've been teaching her dimensional dragon slayer magic. I finally understand why you're so passionate about raising Natsu." Planeus said as Igneel chuckled heartily.

"I see. I never thought you'd be the type to take in a human, much less teach them dragon slaying magic. Especially since you said you wouldn't use your magic again." Igneel said to Planeus. The two dragons started to converse with each other, putting Yuna's training to a halt. The boy that Igneel brought along approached Yuna.

"Looks like our dads are gonna be talking for a while. Wanna train together while they catch up with each other?" The boy said to Yuna who nodded.

"Sure! I'm Yuna Sakai by the way." Yuna said, introducing herself to the boy.

"I'm Natsu Dragneel." Natsu revealed his name to Yuna as he held out his hand to her. Yuna reached out and shook his hand. The two of them went to a different part of the clearing and began training together. When they decided to take a break, they talked and got to know each other a little more.

"You're pretty good. How old are you Yuna?" Natsu asked her.

"I'm four years old. My birthday is May 4." Yuna answered him.

"Really? I'm five years old. My birthday is next month on July 7." Natsu said as he smiled brightly at Yuna who smiled back.

"I thought you seemed a little older than me." Yuna said to Natsu. Just then they were approached by their dragon parents Planeus and Igneel.

"It's time to go Natsu." Igneel said as Natsu whined in protest.

"Aww, but I wanted to keep hanging out with Yuna!" Natsu said with a pout. Igneel chuckled at his behavior.

"You can visit any time. As long as Igneel says it's okay. Besides, Yuna here needs a sparring partner more her size." Planeus said to Natsu.

"Yes! I'm all fired up now!" Natsu said excitedly.

"Alright Natsu, let's go." Igneel said as he started to walk off with Natsu following behind him. Yuna called out to Natsu as he and Igneel left.

"See you again soon Natsu!" Yuna said as Natsu turned back in her direction.

"Yeah! See ya!" Natsu said as he smiled and waved goodbye. Yuna smiled brightly in Natsu's direction. She was really happy that she made her first friend in Earthland.
