This morning had been productive for Megan as she had been able to work out and make herself healthy breakfast before heading to school for her morning lectures. She had been alittle behind with school because of her getting shot and trying to heal emotionally and phyiscally. She had kept it to herself how messed up she felt after what happened. She didn't want to give Roman another reason to hate his brother.
She still could not believe all this crazy things happened in her life and it was overwhelming to think about at times.
Megan had kept her inner feelings hidden afraid of what would happen if she let her inner thoughts out. She had been so overwhelmed with everything she took a break from work after Roman insisted on it saying she would be better off relaxing at home.
Her boss Rogen who was usually an ass but let her take the break surprisingly. Rogen had said a few racist things to black men visiting the bar and even called them the n-word. Megan always wanted to stand up to him but knew she would lose her onlu source of income if she dared to.
"Hey Lola." Megan said to her friend pulling a chair beside her.
Megan had come to have lunch alone thinking Natty and Lola were not at school today but when she saw her friends fiery red hair in the cafeteria a huge smile landed on her face. She was glad she wouldn't have to eat alone.
Lola turned to face her as she instantly recognized her voice. She smiled as she noticed Megan coming over to join her for lunch. They always had fun during their lunch break and Megan loved her company.
"Megan! I'm glad you came to join me today. It feels really lonely when you're not around."
Megan pouts holding Lola's hand. "Babes you know how hectic my life gets ever since I met Roman." She didn't want to dump all her issues on her friend and ruin the mood today. She wanted to enjoy a fun lunch with her girl.
"Oh I do know. I know it all too well. I'm sure this whole dating a mafia boss is a bit much for you right?"
"Mafia boss? He does give that vibe doesn't he?" She laughs awkwardly trying to think of anything else to talk about.
Megan knew many people suspected Roman and his business. She had made sure to not talk about that with her friends but lola seemed to have made her own investigation.
"In all seriousness Lola its best we dont talk about that."
Lola laughed a bit as she leaned in closer towards Megan since she didn't want anyone else hearing them talk.
"Oh I know. I'm not dumb. I know he's a mafia boss. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I'm pretty good at keeping a secret. So is your relationship going well?"
Megan doesn't want to talk further about his job so she thinks shifting the conversation would be better.
"It's fine."
"Hmm...seems like you're holding back. Is everything really ok between you two?"
"I'm learning new things about him everyday." She tries to find the words to say that dont make it sound like everything is negative. "Roman is complex." He also kills people like nothing.
Lola knew her friend well enough to sense that she wasn't telling her the complete truth. She knew she loved Roman but it seems something happened that she wasn't ready to talk about yet.
"Complex? How so?"
"Lola...Let's talk about something else. How are you these days how's your mom?"
Lola knew she was avoiding the topic. She seemed to be upset with something but she just didn't wanna say it. She just wanted to keep it away from her mind and have a bit of fun.
"Oh me? I'm doing great. Just you know, usual everyday life. Got my friends, got my hobbies. Got nothing to complain about. Oh, my mom is fine. Same as always I guess. Nothing to say about her really."
Megan looks at her seeing some sadness in her friends face. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago and Lola was put into even more pressure to provide for her family.
"Is she handling the chemotherapy okay?"
Lola instantly tensed up as she was quickly reminded about her mother's cancer. She had been able to block it out of her mind but her friend just pulled her back into it.
"She's fine. She's...she's fine..."
Her voice was shaky as she spoke but she tried to keep a strong tone so she didn't have to worry her friend too much.
"Are you?"
Lola quickly tried to suppress the emotions she was feeling as she grew more and more sad as Megan asked these questions.
"Yeah...I'm fine...don't worry about me..I will manage."
The two girls fall into a silence. Megan knew her friend was suffering but didn't know how to help and Lola believed Megan was worried about something but kept it to herself. They were worried about each other but suffered silently.

Megan arrived at Roman's house an hour after her afternoon classes ended. She ran to her office after finally deciding to ask for his help with Lola's mother's chemotherapy bills. She knew the money wouldn't be a big deal to him. He would give her the starts if she asked for it.
As she was about to open his office door she heard Jack's uneasy voice.
"Roman. You did not need to hire people to murder Gene's wife. She was innocent! I know he sold us out to the Russians but-"
"You know that I don't take betrayal lightly!" Roman shouts making Megan freeze by te door as she continues to listen in.
This is something Megan has heard before. His words left her shocked and speechless. She quickly realized how cruel and harsh he could be when something didn't go his way. His voice made her realize that perhaps there was more to this man than she originally thought.
"Sometimes you are too ruthless!" Jack said. "Apollo would have stopped you if he were here."
Megan became more and more scared as she kept listening to the conversation between her boyfriend and his right hand man. It was apparent that she was starting to figure out how dangerous and ruthless her boyfriend could be. Yet she still loved him. However she wasn't too sure about if she could handle hearing this again. She was starting to get scared about what could happen to her if she ever betrayed him.
"Roman."
Megan finally decides to show herself. She enters his office and smiles at Jack politely.
Both Roman and Jack turned to look at her as soon as her presence was made. Roman was surprised to see her and he tried to hide his anger by speaking in a calm and gentle tone.
"Hey baby. What happened?"
"Sorry to interrupt but I wanted to talk to you."
Roman quickly hid his anger and nodded towards her.
"That's perfectly fine. What did you wanna talk to me about?"
Jack gets up, "I'll leave first. Please calm your boyfriend megan. He can be wild sometimes and fierce."
Megan chuckles softly watching Jack walk out of the office.
As soon as Jack left, Roman looked back at her with a serious expression on his face.
"So what did you wanna talk about? Is it something important?"
"Not particularly but kinda. Roman. I'll get straight to the point."
She gulps before finally blurting it out. "I was hoping you could fund my best friend's mother's chemotherapy."
For a moment Roman's eyes widened with shocked but he soon regained his composure. He smiled at her a bit.
"Oh, that's all you wanted? I thought it was something more serious than that. Don't worry, I don't mind at all. I'll have one of my people arrange the funds for your friend."
She jumps into his arms happily. She hugs him tightly thanking him repeatedly. "This means the world to me. Thank you!"
He was surprised at her sudden show of affection but he didn't mind it at all. He gladly held her close and hugged her while speaking in a gentle and caring tone.
"Don't worry about it. It's the least I could do for you and your friend. I'm just really glad you're happy. That's all that matters to me. Anything else?"
She thinks to herself before smirking, "let's go to the bedroom."
