"Most of them were prostitutes… Before we took them, they were. They sold their bodies in taverns for alcohol and drugs. Now they are not, thanks to us," he said.
"And what are you, their resurrection?" I asked.
"That's exactly what we are, their second chance. Look at us as the resurrection team. We are here to cleanse your world," he said in a now serious tone.
"So, you also see them as the dirt of our world?" I asked, extorting.
"Not really. They are the ones who will do the cleansing... Once they are one with The League, they'll return to cleanse your world. Now we are still teaching them about the vision,"
"My world? Am I not part of your organization? And this vision; whose vision, is it?"
"You are not yet part of my organization, not until you are fully absorbed into it. For now, you just see us from the outside. You are in the testing stage. Yes, you have passed it but as of now you are not one of us yet, so the general public is still your world… The vision is Madionna's vision. Madionna is the founder of The League and she found it upon the pillars of feminism. She believes that if women could be given a chance to lead, they would lead the world out of the current situation which men brought it to. To achieve this 'thou, women need to first unlearn all their patriarchal upbringing and be empowered with a new, free, and powerful mindset of proactive leadership, true independence, and productivity. This is why they are taken to the island," he explained.
"The island? What are you talking about? Are you taking these girls to an island?"
"Yes, the girls after arriving at The Point wait for the WM Mandela Cruiser boat that will take them to the island from Queen Mnandi Island, the Queens' Island. The boat comes once a month to pick them up at night from the Coega dock, but this is done without dock authorities' knowledge. About 144 women are sent to the island each month. 11 other drivers like you deliver the guests to The Point each week," he said.
We walked to the parking lot which sat a bit far from the restaurant. We walked past a few streets ignorant of what occurred around us, consumed into our revelatory conversation. Elijah in his dark spectacles always looked for an unknown piece of a complex puzzle from the horizon and never gave eye contact to anyone. We arrived at the car and his chauffeur opened the doors for us from the inside and drove off as soon as we got in. The conversation continued:
"The League has been working on this project for a long now. And when the time is right the plan will have to be executed," he said turning his laptop towards me.
A video of a woman delivering a speech played.
"The vision is simple…," so she began.
"It is important to understand that in our journey of emancipating the woman, we should involve the man as he has equally been involved in the process of dominating and oppressing the woman. We are aware that within their kind there are men of honor who supports our cause. Those are the men whom we will call our friends. And honor as potential partners in our future undertakings. We must not forget that not all men are evil and most importantly we cannot help but need these honorable men to secure a future for the existence of humanity. Therefore, honorable men must be assured of favor, and they must know that they have a place secured in the new world. And that place is secured by them through their total support of our cause in these early stages," she said.
Her voice soothed the inner walls of one's soul. Her passionate delivery demanded a place for her words in our hearts to reside. The truth could be detected from the tone of her voice even before understanding her intended message. She spoke with charisma and passion.
"These men will help us execute our plan and will be with us up until the end. Up until the day when we send our army back to the mainland."
I cut in:
"Are you going to send an army to kill us?"
"I expected that question," he said.
"And no, you misunderstood the statement; we won't send a literal army of guns to kill people. The army she is talking about is the workforce of production which is currently being trained on the island," Elijah further explained.
