Chapter 1 - Aubert Réel

In the boundless expanse of the Omniverse, where dimensions intersect and realities weave together in an intricate dance, a nightmarish entity of dark matter and entropy made its ominous emergence.

This entity, known as Desoloth, stood as the harbinger of doom, a cosmic calamity with the power to obliterate universes, erase timelines, and devour the very essence of existence.

Its tendrils, forged from the void itself, extended across the celestial fabric, erasing stars, galaxies, and entire realms with an insatiable appetite for annihilation. No force in the cosmos could deter its path, no power could withstand its might, and no life could endure its all-consuming presence.

Amid this cataclysm, a solitary figure opposed the darkness.

Aubert stood defiant. His stature, cloaked in a vibrant crimson ensemble, starkly contrasted against his pallid complexion, while a flowing ebony cape trailed behind him. A distinguished tophat, resting atop his disheveled auburn locks and framing his emerald gaze, added an air of enigmatic allure.

Aubert was a master of arcane arts, possessing the rare ability to manipulate the very fabric of reality—a skill scarcely understood and rivaled by few.

He had traversed the vast reaches of the Omniverse, driven by a quest to halt Desoloth's rampage, to seek vengeance for his fallen universe, and to extinguish the nightmare that threatened all of creation.

As Desoloth's appendages loomed, poised to consume him, Aubert raised his hand, his fingers weaving a tapestry of magical energy. Drawing upon the cosmic forces that surrounded him, he uttered a spell in reverse, channeling a spell of annihilation against the heart of the abomination.

"yar noitainillina cimsoC!"

A spectrum of light, vibrant and piercing, erupted from his palm, striking Desoloth's core and momentarily tearing through its essence.

The spell, potent enough to challenge the fabric of reality itself, seemed to falter as Desoloth's form rapidly regenerated, unmarred by the assault.

"Did you believe mere beams of light could extinguish me, Aubert?" Desoloth's taunt resonated through the Omniverse, a mockery that belittled the effort. "You dare challenge me? You are but a mote in the vastness of my vision. Insignificant."

Yet, Aubert's demeanor remained unshaken, a smirk playing upon his lips. "Your words are as empty as the void from which you spawned, Desoloth. You underestimate the essence of my being. I am not merely a man. I am the embodiment of what you fear most. I am the incarnation of magic itself."

Such defiance, such audacity from a mere mortal, stoked the flames of Desoloth's wrath. The notion of a human embodying the essence of magic was an affront, a challenge that could not be ignored.

With a fury that shook the foundations of the Omniverse, Desoloth unleashed a primal roar, a sonic wave that tore through the fabric of reality, causing distant realms to unravel and entire universes to blink out of existence.

Aubert, quick to react, casted a barrier, a protective veil of magical energy. He began to chant another spell in reverse, an attempt to turn Desoloth's might against him.

"ecruos sti tsniaga thgim lacigam siht esrever dna; tcattni niamer noitcelfer fo reirrab sih-ACK!"

His incantation was abruptly silenced as the shockwave shattered his defenses, propelling him across the void. The intended deflection of Desoloth's roar back at the beast remained unrealized.

Yet, Aubert's resolve did not waver. With a display of agility and mastery over his powers, he vanished into the ether, teleporting away from the immediate danger, his spirit unbroken and his determination unyielded in the face of the cosmic adversary.

Desoloth surveyed the swath of desolation he had carved through the cosmos with malevolent glee, his sinister gaze lingering over the voids left by obliterated timelines and devoured worlds. Within him surged a vile sense of pride and a perverse pleasure in his unparalleled capacity for destruction.

Oblivous to him, Aubert had evaded the clutches of defeat.

Veiled in the penumbra, Aubert materialized stealthily behind the monstrous entity. A resolve as firm as the bedrock of reality itself took hold within him.

'I must turn his might against him,' he thought with iron-willed determination. 'I must invert his very essence.'

With a command over the arcane that few could dream of wielding, Aubert began to intone a spell of profound power.

"ecapsE s'noivilbO." The incantation hummed with the potential to warp and invert Desoloth's essence, to turn his force of annihilation in upon itself.

Sensing an alteration in the fabric of reality, Desoloth whirled around, only to find the universe bending and warping in response to Aubert's magic. But time was not on his side.

Aubert's spell had already begun its work, reversing Desoloth's malignant outflow, forcing the dark matter and entropy that comprised his being to implode.

The appendages that had once stretched out, ensnaring the cosmos, now recoiled violently, withdrawing into Desoloth's core as if compelled by a cosmic vacuum.

For the first time, Desoloth experienced the constraint of his destructive force. He struggled against the inversion, but Aubert's spell, a masterwork of reality-altering magic, overpowered him.

Aubert's concentration was unbreakable, the green fire in his eyes burning brighter as he sustained the spell. The very air around them seemed to buckle and twist, mirroring the epic struggle of wills.

"Your belief in destruction's supremacy was your downfall, Desoloth. Every force in existence meets its counter," Aubert pronounced, his voice weary but laced with an unwavering conviction. "You sought to erase all in your path, yet you overlooked one critical flaw. I am beyond your reach."

Pausing to catch his breath, mana nearly expended, Aubert thought, 'This is for you, Dad, Dominic, and all who were lost.'

Desoloth had razed his universe to nothing, leaving Aubert to face this darkness alone.

"No... this cannot BE!" Desoloth's outcry was a mix of fear and disbelief.

But then, Desoloth's form erupted in a blinding crimson aura, his scream shattering Aubert's magical constructs.

"RAAAAH!"

The scream ripped through reality, sending a cataclysmic shockwave across the void, embodying chaos itself, dismantling the order of the Omniverse.

Aubert staggered, the force of Desoloth's defiance sending him reeling through the cosmos. He steadied himself amidst the pain, his energy sapped by the ordeal.

Witnessing Desoloth's resurgence, devouring a universe whole, Aubert realized the grim reality of his situation. The entity's essence now bolstered, surged with a renewed ferocity.

Aubert's heart sank as he saw the tendrils he had managed to subdue regenerate with alarming rapidity, Desoloth's form expanding ominously.

"No... I've underestimated his insatiable hunger."

Muttering through clenched teeth, Aubert tapped into the dregs of his mana.

"!noisnemiD htiehgi eht ni delaese Eb!" He aimed to ensnare Desoloth within the eighth dimension, a last-ditch effort fraught with uncertainty.

A rift tore through the cosmos, a gateway to the eighth dimension unveiling itself.

Desoloth, caught in Aubert's magical snare, battled the imprisoning forces. His resistance was fierce, but Aubert's relentless magic dragged him towards confinement.

"Do you think this will hold me, Aubert?" Desoloth sneered, his voice seething with scorn. "I am the embodiment of Non-existence. I will return!"

Yet, Aubert's spell was unyielding, the dimensional energies encasing Desoloth, sealing him within an ethereal prison. The rift closed, Desoloth's threats silenced by the confines of the eighth dimension.

Breathing heavily, Aubert allowed himself a brief respite, aware that this victory was but temporary.

"This... prison won't hold forever," he conceded.

Understanding the gravity of his situation, Aubert conceived a bold plan. He would seek out a variant of himself in a realm where magic reigned supreme, hoping to enlist their aid in Desoloth's final defeat.

With a renewed purpose, Aubert ventured through the Omniverse, his journey stretching across time and space, until he discovered a world ablaze with magical energy.

Touching down upon this new realm, Aubert felt the stirrings of hope. Here, in a world suffused with magic, lived a version of himself possibly capable of aiding in Desoloth's undoing.

Aubert chuckled, tinged with a hint of relief, resonated softly in the vastness of the cosmos.

"Fear not, Little One. You are the chosen harbinger of hope. Within you lies the power to rescue us all from the brink of oblivion," he murmured to his alternate self. His tone, warm and encouraging, infused the air with a sense of calm assurance.

As he reached out to the glowing orb of cosmic energy, Aubert's physical form began to disintegrate, transforming into a mesmerizing display of crimson sparks.

Each spark danced through the void, a vibrant testament to his journey—a mosaic of his memories, ambitions, and apprehensions.

Casting a lingering gaze towards the now-sealed rift, a wave of unease washed over him. The knowledge that Desoloth's containment was but a reprieve weighed heavily on his spirit. The urgency of the situation was palpable; he was acutely aware of the need for swift action.

The moment Aubert's fingertips brushed against the cosmic orb, his existence fragmented into a myriad of red luminescence, each spark embarking on its path across the interdimensional expanse.

In that instant, he disappeared, setting forth on an odyssey into a realm unknown, leaving behind a trail of light that pierced the darkness—a beacon of hope in the relentless struggle against the encroaching void.
