Chereads / Oblivion System / Chapter 2 - [One] Integration

Chapter 2 - [One] Integration

I don't know how long it was before I woke up. I couldn't see, hear, or feel anything. My 5 senses dulled into nothing. All I had was my thoughts, which was alive and well.

At some point I tried to reach out to the system I saw before this, but that didn't appear.

Maybe I'm dead? Maybe it was a hallucination, or the system was too slow in my transfer, and that beast killed me. And I just forgot because of the shock factor.

I don't know how long it's been. I have no sun to estimate with. If I had to guess, it's been days. Or weeks.

Now that I'm unsure, how do I know it hasn't been years? Or decades for that matter. Maybe this is hell, or purgatory. No mater what it is, it seems like it won't ever end..

>>System processing.

>>Power used to swap realities more than estimated.

>>Unnable to communicate with user for the 7 year transfer due to power strains.

>>Time passed in New reality since departure, 7 days.

>>Time left until complete reality integration: 13 minutes.

>>Powering up system functions. Using remaining time to answer User questions until finished.

Oh, shit. Maybe if you complain enough, everything does get fixed in the end. I should look into trying that more.

Anyway, now that the system is finally working, and I can see it, (despite not being able to see anything else, not even my body) I can get some answers.

"How long was I in this void of, well, whatever this is?"

>>This is the plain that exists outside of time. It's home to a magnitude of higher beings, like Gods and Dieties. Many of which are from the various religions of your home planet. Most notably, the Greek gods and their alter-ego Roman versions, God from Chrstianity, and various eastern ones. As for how long you've been here, it's been 7 years, 8 months, 12 days, and 13 hours.

"The God's are real? Maybe I should have been religious after all. But how does that work? Don't most of the religions contradict eachother? Like chrstianities heaven and Greeks heaven, whaever its called. Also.. almost 8 years??"

>>it all depends on what they believe. For example, christians go to the christian heaven and hell, and Greeks go to their heaven and hell. Atheists are included in this, of course. They usually get sent to whichever one they're more knowledgeable about. If they read Pe*cy J*ckson, they're likely sent to the Greeks.

"You sound more human now.. you sounded like a robot for a moment.. But If this were a novel or something, that'd just seem like lazy writing and lack of a creative effort into trying to be original. But of course, this is reality...

Hey wait a minute what if this is a nov-"

>>Regardless of how simple it seems, or how basic the idea is, this is how it all works. Besides, its because it's simple that its done this way. Why make it complicated and try to be unique in how things are run?

"Whatever. I suppose I should ask the important questions.. What's happened to my old world? The one I left behind?"

>>Your world was destroyed in the invasion. It was hoped that once you received Mana and powers, supplied by the gods of mythology, that you would fight back and win against the invasion, but you all failed. Likely to fault on the gods end.

"So the gods supplied our powers, but how was it their fault that we failed? The powers made us so powerful, but there were just billions of them."

>>The Oblivion System is the culmination of hundreds of gods powers and abilities. The system contains the power of lightning and fire, water, air, and anything you can think of. It even contains ways to make yourself prettier or smarter. Eventually, it could give you the power I become your own God, but that could take thousands of years. This is what you have.

>>Sadly, the power of this system took more than the gods expected, and thus, took too long to activate. You were meant to be the true hero of your world. A god amongst men. Had you awoken it on time, you would have been able to save your world.

>>And I'm sure you'll ask about the invasion itself. So I'll explain now. Think about the monsters as you called them, as a plague. They infected your world using their own, dark twisted version of mana. And used it to open portals to your world.

I don't exactly know what came over me. But of the things I could feel, in that moment, I felt anger. Anger over this new destiny set over me.

"I just wanted to survive. And now, I'm supposed to save everything? Who cares about the benefits if there may be any, why am I the one to do this? Why me?"

>>The Oblivion System is taxing on the mortal mind and body, due to the effects it has on every aspect of the human body. We have run trillions of simulations over the system, and trillions more to find the one to use this system.

>> You were the most fitting candidate, by a landslide. The second most likely candidate had a 54.23% compatibility score. While yours was a 99.97%

>>For better reference, the average compatibility was 27.64%. This is spread amongst all 762,784,643,119 realities that currently exist.

"So I'm the one to use this system simply because I was compatible? And what do I get out of this? You show up, and tell me you can rewind time, but that fails. Now, I'll never see my family again because the next best thing was to just swap realities?"

>>Should you perform well enough, your family will be saved. Your mother will be reformed and fixed of brain damage and mental issues that arise of having her consciousness merged with thousands of others. Just as an example.

>>If it also pleases you, the system can also make you look better. So you could get yourself a partner. Or multiple. Go wild.

Well fuck, I can't turn that down now can I?

"Fine, i'll do it"
