Chereads / Oblivion System / Chapter 3 - [Two] Getting settled.

Chapter 3 - [Two] Getting settled.

It's weird. Just an hour ago I was in a void talking to a system about, everything really. And now I'm outside. I see the grass, the trees, the sun, and a city. Thankfully, the system also blessed me with some items.

$1,000, an ID, birth certificate, a knife, some supplies, and a cellphone, that surprisingly works.

I suppose the first thing to do is find some shelter. I could make it to the city and find an apartment, or I could camp here for awhile. Try and gather information in this world.

The system is no longer taking questions either. Though it's still here. And still talks.. I dont know it's reasoning for not answering anymore questions though.

Thankfully, while in the void, it gave me the quick run-through of the system.

"Menu, Quests, daily"

------------------------------------------------------

Daily Quests

1: 0/30 push-ups. Reward: 30 exp

2: 200 jumping jacks. Reward: 50 exp

3: 0/100 squats. Reward: 20 exp

4: 0/3 miles ran. Reward: 50 exp

5: Kill one undead. Reward: 70 exp.

------------------------------------------------------

"Really? Workouts? Can this get any more basic? At least killing the undead is easy. I thought this system was the culmination of thousands of gods effort and abilities. And the daily quest, is workouts?"

>>Daily quest is set to your current level. As you level up, your daily Quests will get harder and rewarding.

I flinched at the reply. The system voice sounded human an hour ago, now it's back to that static, AI feel. Maybe someone can speak through the AI?

[Author here, I'm finding it difficult to continue with a first person POV. For sake of pacing, my sanity, and your sanity, It will now be 3rd person. Mostly because it's easier to work with, and it's just easier to remember names if they're said often. I will not be editing the chapters before this, because I'd have to rewrite over 2000 words]

Kano groaned and qe

Weighed his options, before lowering himself to the ground, beginning the training. His thoughts wandered, and the system went quiet. Right now, it was just Kano and his thoughts.

His mind went to his mother, who was ripped apart and grafted onto that mound of flesh before his eyes. His dad who burned alive because he tried to protect him and his siblings against looters with magic. His siblings who fell ill from an unknown disease, and died as their flesh fell off in clumps.

The imagery made him sick, but he held on. He held onto the belief that he could bring his family back if he did his job. And he decided then and there.

'I'm going to kill every last demon, every last monster, every zombie, and everything unnatural. I'll kill all of them. Whether there are billions, or trillions. I will be the one to slaughter them.'

And with that, the system sounded.

>>User 'Kano Fukomoto' had completed his daily quest. Doubling EXP gain as a bonus for completing first daily quest. Double EXP for completing first ever quest.

>>You have gained 120 EXP.

>>You have leveled up!

>>All stats +1.

>>3 stat points to spend.

He stared, and then looked up. He wasn't sure who he was looking at, if anything. But he hoped he had locked eyes with something. Staring at him from the void he passed through. And lowered his head in respect.

"Thank you."

He raised his head, and got back to working out.

After some time, he was done. Ignoring the prompts as they showed up, he opened his eyes and viewed what was written.

>>3 Quests completed.

>>Total EXP awarded: 120

>>You have leveled up!

>>All stats +1

>>6 stat points to spend.

He stared at the system for a moment, before deciding. He put 2 stats into Strength and 4 into Agility.

>>Strength 21-->23

>>Agility 18-->22

And with that, his daily was done, except for the kill requirement. Though he wasn't worried. There wasn't a penalty for failure, and even then, where would he find one? It's getting dark, and it's too late to go to the city.

He cursed inwardly, passed that he took so long to do his Quests, and elected to make a fire. And at the thought of this, the system spoke.

>>Urgent quest! It's a cold night, and you're dressed casual. Make a fire or you could catch hypothermia!

>>Fire made: 0/1. Reward: 60 exp.

>>Penalty for failure: Stage 1 hypothermia. -15 hp and a 15% decrease in all stats.

"Ah fuck. How do I make a fire again?"
