Chapter 9 - Help (page 2/2)

Upon realizing that Gu Beixian had sent twenty roses to Chu Suosuo, Su Huo, in a fit of pique, declared, "Bring me two hundred."

The clerk hesitated for a moment, smiling, "Please wait."

After a long wait, the flowers were finally wrapped. Su Huo then understood why the clerk had hesitated.

Two hundred roses, when packaged, had a diameter of nearly a meter.

They were immense and weighty.

She struggled to carry them, but it was satisfying. Why wait for someone else to give her flowers when she could afford them herself?

Gu Beixian took out his card to pay, and Su Huo handed him the card, saying, "I have money of my own."

She spoke with determination.

The flowers were purchased with her hard-earned money.

Gu Beixian smiled faintly, knowing she was being defiant.

After settling the bill, Su Huo walked out with an oversized bouquet of white roses.

The bouquet was so large that it made her figure appear even more slender, like a long, straight bamboo, graceful yet resolute.

Gu Beixian reached out to take it.

Su Huo dodged aside, avoiding his hand.

Gu Beixian's hand froze in midair, withdrawing slowly after a second.

They walked side by side.

Looking at the densely packed roses in her arms, Gu Beixian asked, "Do you also like white roses?"

"I don't."

"If you don't like them, why buy so many?"

"Yeah!"

A hint of amusement flickered in Gu Beixian's eyes. "I never thought you would like flowers. I always assumed you only liked painting."

"I am still a woman!"

Accustomed to her gentle temperament, it was the first time Gu Beixian had seen her sulking. He found it refreshing. "Then what flowers do you like? I'll give them to you next time."

Su Huo pursed her lips in silence.

Growing up with her grandparents at the foot of the mountains, she liked wildflowers such as marigolds and dandelions, as well as irises, sweet peas, and sunflowers planted beneath the window.

She had affection for these simple and tenacious little flowers, but the precious and delicate imported roses in her arms left her indifferent.

Buying so many was purely to vent her frustration.

As they approached Gu Bao Zhai, Su Huo suddenly stopped and said, "You don't need to send me any further."

Gu Beixian raised an eyebrow, "Afraid your colleagues will see me?"

"We are heading for divorce sooner or later, aren't we?" Her voice trembled, and her heart fluttered.

The current situation, whether to leave or not, felt like cutting meat with a blunt knife, causing a lingering ache.

Gu Beixian fell silent for a moment, stopping in his tracks. He silently watched her gradually move away, his eyes deep and tranquil like a calm sea.

Su Huo reached the entrance of Gu Bao Zhai and encountered the shop's young master, Shen Huai.

He smiled, "Such a large bouquet of flowers. Did your boyfriend give them to you?"

"No, I bought them myself."

Shen Huai's smile deepened, "Quite heavy, I'll help you carry them."

Su Huo handed him the flowers, smiling, "Thank you."

Shen Huai half-jokingly said, "As the heiress of our store, helping you carry a bouquet is nothing."

"Mr. Shen, you're joking."

The two chatted and laughed, walking into the shop side by side.

Gu Beixian, standing tall and graceful, watched from afar. His eyes were cool, and a chill permeated them.

It was an inexplicable feeling.

It was as if a pig had barged into his carefully nurtured cabbage patch after three years.

Almost instinctively, he wanted to drive the pig away.

Only then did he realize that he wasn't as magnanimous as he had imagined.

Licking his lips, Gu Beixian instructed his assistant behind him, "Have someone investigate that man."

"Yes, Mr. Gu."

The two got into the car and headed back to the company.

Half an hour later.

The assistant received a call and reported to Gu Beixian, "Mr. Gu, that person is named Shen Huai, a doctor by profession, and Gu Bao Zhai is his grandfather's store. Three years ago, he had communication records with Mrs. Gu."

Gu Beixian raised his eyes, a cold gleam in their depths. "Check Shen Huai's nickname and see if it's 'A Yao'."
