I was walking closer to where the others were. At the same time, saving my stamina in preparation for a run or charge situation. Also, I saw from a distance that the fight between the giant and the robed figure had finally come to an end.
The robed figure lay flat on the ground, his body had turned into minced meat, presumably because he had been stomped on many times by that giant. It was an inevitable outcome.
The robed figure couldn't use his magic too well, as he was a zombie, and his only method of attack would be with a clear desire to bite.
Against an abnormally big and strong opponent, that weakened magic combined with the lack of intelligence was not useful enough, as evidenced by the fact that he had been hit so many times that he became minced meat.
At the moment, the giant was standing idle, panting heavily. He was about to turn into a zombie soon, I had an eerie feeling about it.
'Brolee and the person after him have already arrived. I should increase my speed a little.' I considered moving my attention away from the giant and brought my eyes towards where my followers were standing and waiting for me.
Stepping up my pace, I took the same roundabout route I had taken when I left to grab the sword for Sutow. I didn't want to be detected by the giant, especially since I still had to distribute the weapons that I wasted my time and effort to make.
While making my way through the roundabout feeling, I suddenly had an uncomfortable sensation. The eerily feeling, it seemed to be coming from… 'Oh no… He turned around, didn't he? The moving torchlight too… It must have caught his attention.'
I gulped as I realized the cause of that uncomfortable feeling. I felt it to my left, where the giant was, about fifty meters away from me.
'Damn it.' I quickly threw away the torches in my hand beside the building in front of me, trying to salvage the situation with the hope that the giant would forget about the glaring light he had seen passing by.
'Ugh, I should have known it wasn't a good idea to walk around so freely in this dark town with a torch! It was almost as if I wanted to tell the enemy to kiss my ass!' I felt embarrassed by this blatant mistake of mine.
Though, I quickly forgot about it, as it was but a small mistake that was within my range of expectations. Either way, I was prepared to fight.
With me being so close to the others already, I figured I could just run a bit closer to them before screaming for them to come and grab their weapons to assist me.
What happened the next second wasn't to my expectations, however…
Having thrown away the torches, I no longer had something bright right in front of me. I could clearly see again within the far darkness, as my eyes adjusted back now that the bright light was no longer too close to me.
Because of this, I noticed a light that was practically invisible amidst the overwhelming light of the torches. This light was no normal torchlight. There were four of them, and they surrounded the figure of a human-like a rainbow would surround a mountain.
"Sh*t…" I mumbled when I realized that what was before me was a danger. My instinct was screaming at me and my memories gave me all kinds of flashbacks.
Compared to the uncomfortable feeling that I was getting from the giant just a second ago, the feeling I was getting right now as I discovered this light, made me feel like I was standing before a deadly tiger.
'Run, run, runnnnn…!' I wanted to cry out loud. But barely any sound escaped from my throat.
The moment I felt my legs. I started running, and while doing it, I drew the magician's attention.
As a result, a ball of flame made its way towards me. However, I was running fast and the ball that was on my way moved slowly.
I was already far from getting damaged when the ball met with impact. The ball of fire which eventually reached the ground due to the effect of gravity, exploded immediately upon impact. It wasn't just a fireball. It was an explosion decorated as a fireball, similar to those fiery attacks from the magician who had brought a tunnel way to crumble down. I was dealing with such a kind of level of magician!
The explosion was quite powerful, sending debris flying all around, and drawing the attention of that giant as well. Actually, the fact that the attention of the giant was drawn towards the explosion was a good thing for me.
With the dust in the air as the aftermath of the explosion, I was completely hidden from my two enemies. So, I could go to my followers without much worry now, since that giant would no longer be there with them and I could move away from my enemies without being spotted.
I was in a situation where my misfortune had become an opportunity. Or so I thought, because the moment I left the range of the smoke, I was met with a barrage of fire again. This time it wasn't a fireball, but objects similar to missiles that flew towards me with utmost precision. No matter where I ran off to or dodged, those fiery darts kept persistently following me.
'Did that magician decide to use this spell because he couldn't see me through the smoke?! Damn, he is really a powerful one, huh?' I thought, and while doing so I heard the giant screaming and felt the ground trembling.
