It didn't take long for Gaara to pass out after he confirmed that the rogue ninjas had retreated for reasons unknown.
Soon enough, medical shinobi lined up in the now deserted arena. They first checked on the injured and unconscious chunin ninjas. Next, they ensured that no bystanders had been caught in the aftermath of the battle, and fortunately, no one had been.
Finally, they turned their attention to Gaara, who remained lying there motionless.
At first, no one dared to approach the jinchuriki of the One-Tailed Beast. After all, if left alone, he would recover on his own. But one figure stood out—a woman of average height, in her 60s, who calmly walked toward Gaara. With a heavy sigh, she muttered:
"Oh, that Rasa… pushing a child to this extent. If only Kurara were still alive."
She bent down and immediately applied medical ninjutsu to stabilize Gaara's condition—not that it was particularly serious.
Turning to address the other medical ninjas, she instructed them to assist in taking Gaara to the infirmary. However, they hesitated.
"It's too dangerous, Miss Chiyo," one of the medical ninjas said. "That child is the jinchuriki of the One-Tailed Beast. Who knows what might happen if we touch him? We can't risk something... unwanted occurring."
No one was willing to risk their lives, and in the blink of an eye, another shinobi appeared before Gaara.
Miss Chiyo, caught off guard, immediately braced herself for a potential confrontation. But when she saw who it was, she relaxed.
"Let me assist you, Miss Chiyo, in taking Gaara to the infirmary."
"It's about time, Yashamaru," Chiyo replied, her voice laced with gratitude. "My bones are already too old to carry him alone."
Together, they carefully moved Gaara, with Yashamaru carrying him in his arms. The journey to the infirmary felt painfully slow, but after what seemed like an eternity, they finally arrived.
Once inside, Miss Chiyo checked Gaara's condition. The lightning blade strike to his chest had already begun healing, enough so that it no longer bled.
The sand that had clung to Gaara's body, sensing Chiyo's pure intent, seemed to retreat on its own, leaving Gaara vulnerable as though his body were an open book.
Phew... Chiyo sighed in relief. She had been dreading the possibility of triggering Shukaku's fury as she worked, but the sand parted without incident.
The sight of Gaara's fragile form almost brought tears to her eyes. She could clearly see the damage the lightning blade had caused. Of course, she had been among the audience watching the battle under Rasa's order.
"Sasori, my boy, I hope you're doing well, wherever you are," Chiyo thought sadly.
She immediately set to work, applying medical ninjutsu to help Gaara recover. Fortunately, Gaara had only passed out due to exhaustion, not from the severity of his injuries.
It took a while, and Yashamaru's assistance with the smaller tasks was invaluable. Every little bit helped.
By the time they finished treating Gaara, the first light of dawn had broken. Now, it was Chiyo and Yashamaru who were exhausted.
