My eyes snap open to a disorienting darkness, my surroundings shrouded in shadows.
'Where am I?' I wonder as I try to see through the dark.
I nearly startle when I hear the sound of heels against the ground. I look up and nearly gasp at the sight of an open sky filled with heavy dark clouds, the moon providing enough light to see where I am. The smell of damp earth fills my nostrils as I look around, and the texture of the dirt beneath my fingertips feels gritty. Fear strangles me when I realize where I am.
I'm trapped in a pit.
I jump when I hear a snort of mocking laughter. I look up and meet the eyes of a group of girls, their faces twisted in disdain as they stare into my muddy prison.
"Look at her. Right where she belongs." A pretty girl with long brown hair, probably the leader of the group, spits with a twisted expression. With sudden clarity, I know where I am.
This was my former high school, these girls were my classmates who treated me like I was dirt beneath their shoes, and who bullied me at every chance they got.
I could never forget the pain they put me through.
I swallow as the air thickens with tension
One girl sneers, "Who would bother looking for an Omega like you? You're going to rot here."
Desperation claws at my chest as I plead, "Please, I didn't mean to upset anyone. Forgive me."
Laughter echoes around me, their scorn intensifying. Another girl scoffs, "forgive you? The only way I can forgive you is if you were never born to begin with."
They look down at me, their voices dripping with contempt.
"No one is going to come looking for you, Omega," the leader sneers, her words like venom. "You're worthless, forgotten, and abandoned."
"Please, just give me a chance to explain. I never meant to cause any harm." I beg them in a trembling voice, my hands shaking as I clasp them in front of me.
The rain begins to fall, cold and relentless. The pit becomes a muddy prison, and the water seeps in, rising steadily. Panic tightens my chest as I struggle and try to claw my way out but the walls are too slick.
"Please!." I cry in despair but they begin to walk away, their cruel laughter lingering as my feet sink into the cold mud.
I huddle in the corner, my knees pulled close to my chest. The water rises steadily, inch by inch, creeping closer to me. Anxiety rises within me like a tidal wave. I sob, My vision blurring, the world reduced to murky shadows.
In no time, the water reaches my chest, my legs feebly kicking as I try to stay afloat.
The scent of damp earth mixes with the metallic tang of fear as I struggle against the rising tide.
Panic takes hold, and I try to gasp for air that eludes when water fills my lungs.
I gasp, trying to beg, and shout for help but I am drowned out by the relentless onslaught of water. I claw at the walls, desperately searching for a way out, but it's futile. The water engulfs me, the coldness seeping into my bones. Darkness consumes my senses, and I can't breathe.
I wake up in a cold sweat, my heart racing like a wild stallion. I open my eyes and find myself in a dimly lit room.
"It was a dream. Just a dream.' I'm tired. It takes a few seconds for my heart to settle down.
With hazy eyes, I look around the room before my eyes snap to the other person in the room.
It takes a moment for my groggy mind to process the scene before me. There's a man, tall and muscular, getting dressed. Moonlight?!
A pang of guilt hits me as I realize that I must have slept with him last night, though my memories are hazy.
I see flashes of our heated night together, the feeling of his piercing gaze and large hands, and the intense feelings that accompanied our Union.
I feel a blush stain my cheeks, and my heart rate increases
'Did I just have sex with a stripper?.' I think Incredibly as I stare at the muscled back of moonlight.
'He's hot though.' I think deliriously as I shamelessly ogle the man.
However, after a few moments, I noticed that something feels off. The moonlight is moving like he's saying something or speaking.
'Is he on the phone?.' I wonder as I strain my ears.
But I hear not one, but two male voices conversing. In the room. with me. My curiosity gets the better of me, and I decide to remain still and listen. I focus on the timbre of their voices, trying to recall which one belongs to the mysterious stripper from last night.
The conversation turns heated, and the anger in one of the men's voices is palpable.
"You let her leave?" A stern voice, presumably Moonlight replies. His voice resonates with authority.
'He didn't sound like this last night, but right now he sounds absolutely terrifying,' I think curiously.
The second voice, apologetic, interjects, "I'm sorry, Alpha. It was an oversight. It won't happen again."
My breath catches in my throat when the other man addresses him as "Alpha." The realization dawns on me, and a gasp almost escapes my lips, but I quickly slap a hand to my mouth.
Did he just say Alpha?
Like, an Alpha of a pack?
I could have possibly slept with the Alpha of a pack, right?
"Find her then!." The Alpha barks. The other man quickly stutters a quick affirmative. The other man exits quickly, leaving me alone with the looming presence of the Alpha.
Images of the Alphas flashes through my mind, as I wonder which Alpha it is.
Fear grips me, the mere thought of an Alpha and an Omega, they might want to get rid of me!
I can't shake the thought that I'm in danger. I need to get out of here before he realizes I'm awake. I quietly slip out of the bed, my legs trembling in shock. I look around for a moment, disoriented before I locate my pile of clothes.
I gather my belongings hastily, my hands trembling with an uncontrollable mix of fear and urgency. Just as I'm about to make my escape, the Alpha returns to the room, his face unmasked and vulnerable. The sight of him sends a shiver down my spine.
He looks at me, his gaze piercing through my soul. "You're awake," he states, his voice devoid of any emotion.
I nod, unable to find my voice. The fear of what he might do to me paralyzes me.
His eyes soften momentarily, a flicker of something I can't quite decipher. "You should leave," he says quietly, his words hanging in the air as he gives me a dismissive flick of his hand.
I don't need to be told twice. I turn and flee from the room, my heart pounding in my chest. I don't want to die, and I can't help but wonder what my future holds now that I've unwittingly crossed paths with the Alpha, a man who is said to be without mercy.
I rush out of the club, my head swirling with the events of last night and this morning.
'What am I going to do?' I wonder in a daze as I begin the journey to my place.
