Chereads / Alpha Maxwell, Please Don't Chase Me / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8. A Ray Of Sunshine.

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8. A Ray Of Sunshine.

Dovana suddenly loses control and angrily marches up to me, "But you have so many, a hundred will be enough."

I hate it when they do this, barging into my territory and demanding things night after night of sleeping instead of training their men.

I hate incompetent leaders like him.

"So you have been helping me to keep count?"

Fear immediately grips him as he flinches, lowering his gaze after regaining his composure.

"No, not at all Alpha," he answers.

I smirk, walking calmly towards him and stopping right in his face.

"Then I see no reason why you still stand here, get out immediately."

"Tch!"

He growls stomping towards the door like an an angry Grinch. His son however, looks unwilling to leave as he grabs his father's hand..

"I hear you can grant requests if someone has a valuable gift," he blurts.

I pause.

This one is interesting unlike his father, but I can smell how power-thirsty the little prick is.

"Oh ho, what do we have here, you are a brave one," I praised him.

Carried away by my praise he straightened his back, puffing out his chest with a broad smile on his face.

A treacherous and foolish one he seems to be, although I cannot ignore that I am interested in hearing what he has to say.

"I have a woman," he begins, "a very beautiful woman, one whose company you will certainly enjoy."

Tch!

That's it.

I roll my eyes with obvious distaste. Especially after my encounter with miss sour cherry. I have clearly wasted enough time with these two fools so I get up to leave the room but a pair of arms block my way.

This boy may be foolish but his confidence is admirable and I begin to wonder if it is confidence or pure stupidity.

"I already have a lot," I answer.

"Not this one–" he quickly replies before stopping, "she is very special, just have a look at her photo and you will know how special she is."

"..."

As I wait for the foolish boy who rummages his pockets in search of her photo, I can't help but sigh. I feel stupid just being in their midst.

Finally, his face brightens up and I am certain he's found what he is looking for..

He rushes to hand it over to me and after much hesitation, I stare at the photo.

This one is indeed not something worth missing out on. She looks pitiful, young, and frail as if she would break at the slightest touch.

She's an interesting one. I guess I can spare them a few minutes.

"Hmm, so what is this …offer?"

"Your warriors Alpha, please lend us your strength, to resist the rouge, if you assist us then you can have her," Alpha Donava begs with his hands together.

"Alright. I will be so kind as to grant your request but, in exchange, I demand to see this woman first, after which I will let you know when I am ready to meet with her."

They brighten up, staring at each other completely overjoyed that they forget my presence.

"Ehem," I clear my throat calling forth their attention.

"Certainly Alpha," they say in unison.

For this reason, I decided to pay them a surprise visit in the morning and announce my decision. They were undeniably happy to receive me but I highly doubt that I could say the same for her.

She appears in a yellow polka dot dress and a red ribbon on her hair. She looks young, perhaps around eighteen.

Genevieve, I am told , is her name while watching her from afar.

It seems she does not do well with crows seeing how she is trying to ignore everyone in the room. How interesting.

I see that she is not paying attention to where she is going and walk right into her, deliberately.

"Oof, I'm so sorry did I hurt you?" she blurts out.

Genevieve was worrying about me rather than her head which was hurting, after all, I've been told I have a chest of steel many times.

Hmm?

What's that?

It is a sweet smell and it is emitting from her body.

"Dammit," I murmur to myself.

My legs seem to be moving without me, I am completely overthrown by my own body as I draw closer to her.

This is not how I was going to introduce myself and yet–

Just once more, if I can smell that sweetness just once more.

"Um~" Her small squeak underneath me snaps me back to reality.

"Please… can you move back a bit," she begs, her face turned away.

She is so amusing that I want to keep teasing her. I have never felt this way with anyone before.

Wait a minute, now that I think about it, this smell must be–

"Mate?!"

My wolf was dying to be set free, to go to her, but she didn't react to me in any way.

I wonder why that is.

I thought when a wolf meets his mate, there is the spark, the connection between the two of them.

So why isn't she reacting to me?

Puzzled by this problem, I backed away from her.

There is no need to panic, after all, she was going to be mine, Dovana was giving her hand in marriage to me.

Genevieve huh?

Genevieve Snow, now that sounds like music to my ears.
