Chapter 19 - Carefree

"Do you have any idea how cold it is outside !!"

"Do you know the danger you exposed yourself to, you found yourself on a clinic bed and the first thing you thought to do was go to the balcony…." a high-pitched voice sounded, the voice belonging to a woman in her mid-thirties having short brown hair and donning on the more than common nurse's white gown of, though her's were a little baggy.

"Don't tell me you were trying to commit suicide? Were you?" the brown hair woman said, her words this time coming out soft.

The victim of her scream was currently sitted on the bed which he had woken up on a few minutes ago, his back resting on the wall which his bed stood against, and his legs placed together as he sat down and was scolded.

When the woman's scolding finally turned to a sudden concern at the thought of suicide, the victim's head which was decorated with short black hair lifted and looked at the woman.

"I wasn't," he said, his voice a little bit weak.

"Mother be praised," the woman said, showing her faith in the Holy Mother.

With her fears settled, the woman's face twisted again, and she was just about to start another round of scolding when she saw the boy's despondent look.

Her words got stuck in her mouth and then she let out a sigh, reaching out and squeezing the boy's hand.

"It's going to be okay" The woman, said, a look of pity flashing through her eyes.

Though the woman wasn't sure what exactly was troubling the boy, she had encountered her fair share of washed ashore survivors and knew their most common story.

"You slept for so many days, I'll go get you something. Lia watch him," the woman said and quickly went out, missing the just raised hand of the boy she had been scolding.

Watching the door swing as the woman quickly went out, Kruxe could only let out a sigh as his question on how many days he had been unconscious was left hanging in his mouth.

Minutes earlier, he had struggled through a bit of pain and made his way to the balcony of this strange building or clinic as the nurse from earlier had helped him clarify.

Kruxe had been getting devoured by the claw of sadness and despair when the woman had fiercely burst into the balcony and though he was thankful for that, everything from there on immediately went downhill.

First to his embarrassment, after the woman barked at him on finding him on the balcony. She did not pull him back to his bed as Kruxe had expected, instead, she lifted him and placed him on her shoulders, and without stress carried him to his bed.

While Kruxe's sad mind was processing this embarrassing event, Kruxe was then left to a barrage of scolding that lasted for a few minutes, and now he was left at the mercy of Lia who was to watch over him.

With big black eyes, Kruxe looked to the little girl that was standing beside his bed, the girl shrinking when his gaze turned to her, but then after she suddenly puffed her chest and looked at him.

"Don't go anywhere or I'll tell my mummy" she said, her lips closed and her face tightening trying to give off a tough expression.

Looking at her, Kruxe thought of her mother and could only shake his head as the image of her one day being really strong like her mother popped into his head, and he could imagine her carrying one unfortunate guy like him without breaking a sweat.

Kruxe thought to talk to her, but his mind was just too lazy and tired to do a thing, so he only gave a forced smile and then bowed his head.

A few minutes later, Lia's mother returned, a tray in her hand that carried a steaming bowl, one which she quickly placed before Kruxe.

"Eat "She uttered as she sat by the side of the bed.

"Thank you," Kruxe said, looking at the porridge potatoes in the bowl as he swallowed saliva and his stomach silently growled, but before he began eating, he turned to the woman.

"Ehh Miss.." Kruxe trailed off not knowing her name.

"Liara," she said, her word having Kruxe look at her and her daughter, but then he went on with his question.

"How many days have I been out."

"Ohh, 4 days, you are a very lucky one, there were no waves, but the water carried you to our shore."

"Shores, Where I'm I?" Kruxe asked glad the woman was at the very least friendly and open.

"Palma. You were found on the shores and from there you were quickly brought over to this clinic.

You're body was filled with several internal tears like you were working out heavily before you fell into the sea."

"Can you like imagine the scene of you working out and then suddenly running to jump overhead?" Liara said about to laugh, but when she looked at Kruxe and saw his blank stare she caught herself.

"I'm sorry about that, I tend to lose myself a lot in my imagination. You must have a terrible opinion of the sea after being through such a tragic event on one of your first voyages" Liara said.

"Insensitive Mommy," Lia said from the side looking at her mother with a frown.

"Oh, yes Lia, mommy forget herself a little there, be sure not to forget yourself okay" Liara went about teaching her child.

Though Kruxe was a little bit affected by the woman's words, he was calm enough to understand that she was merely a carefree woman, and besides how could he find it in himself to hate a woman who had most likely taken care of him the whole time he was unconscious and had now presented him with a meal.

Ignoring the mother-daughter pair, Kruxe picked up the spoon on the tray, and dug into the bowl before him, fetching out a portion of the food within and bringing it into his mouth.

"Do you like it, do you like it?" Lia asked, moving close to the bed and looking up at Kruxe, her eyes bright as she stared at him, the little girl subconsciously standing on her tiptoes as she looked at Kruxe for an answer.
