Chapter 10 - I'm a hero

"Oh my goodness, he's so cute when he sleeps," Amber smiled to herself. She saw him looking all innocent and gentle on the sofa.

"So he naps at this hour? Or maybe he just got tired and fell asleep. Damn it, how am I supposed to wake him up now?" she said.

The blanket was half covered so she made her way over to him to properly adjust the blanket on him.

"Hey fly, get away from him!" She yanked a fly buzzing its way around Ajax's face.

Ajax was fast asleep, but he felt it. A soft tender touch on his face. "Maybe I'm dreaming," he thought to himself.

His eyes opened and he saw a smiley face staring down at him. "Arrggh! Get away from me, you witch!" He pushed her away with all his might, then jumped over the sofa and landed on the floor.

"I'm so sorry!" Amber cried out, groaning in pain. "Wow, I didn't mean to wake you up. I'm so sorry."

She ran forward and placed her hand on his mouth to shut him up. "People are outside. We can't let them hear you screaming, shhh!"

Ajax felt it again. Her soft gently warmth on his face. He yanked her hand away, nearly pulling it off. "Get away from me! Get away!"

Big surprised eyes were glaring at Amber. "Okay, but I don't know why you're so dramatic. What is it anyway? Am I that ugly?"

Ajax kept his distance now. He blinked at her question. "What the hell are you doing here! How did you get in?"

Amber pointed to the door. "Honestly, it just opened. I don't know how." she noticed he was still studying her, so she went on.

"I won't touch you again, I came here because I want to be a full staff!" She blurted out.

Meanwhile outside, Kira just heard of what had happened. "Is she stupid? She forced her way in? Oh no, dear Mr. Hulls."

"I know right! She is so pathetic, trying to flirt with Mr. Hulls!" Heather said.

"Wow, she is pretty though. And Mr. Hulls seems to like her." Abby chimed in but got angry looks from her friends.

"Maybe you're the stupid one, Abby! Shut up!" Heather blurted out.

"Abby, get out of here right now. Next time, you'll learn to keep your stupid mouth shut." Kira rolled her eyes.

"But I'm needed to work right now." Abby said, showing her the documents with her that needed studying.

"Fine. Shut your mouth till closing hour." Kira frowned. "What's her dumb name anyway, she'll get fired now. There's no way Mr. Hulls can never forgive her for barging into his office."

Back to Ajax, he still couldn't the story Amber was telling him.

"So he says he's going to travel? He can't." He said, but to himself.

"That's what he said, he said until next two weeks! And I want to be a full staff already." Amber protested.

"That's not possible. Let's go." Ajax said.

"You might wanna splash some water on your face so you look all freshned up." Amber pointed out. His handsome face had been smudged and he looked tired like he hadn't gotten any sleep in days.

His face flustered red but he turned away and did just as she'd asked."I can assure you," he said, his back facing her. "I'm not just sleeping at work, there's a perfect explanation for this."

"I understand." Amber saw a mini fridge and opened it to fill a glass of orange juice. "Really, you were working too hard and you fell asleep. I get it."

"Let's go already." He said to her but she hurried up to give him the glass.

"You should chug this down. It'll help clear your–"

"-I got it," Ajax did exactly as she said, again. He wasn't even minding that they were that close. No. He wasn't even conscious of it, since he felt no negative symptoms.

"We need to hurry up." he said. Amber leaned in closer, she said nothing but with her pointing to his hair, he realized she wanted to touch it. He slapped her hand away with a cold frown.

"I got it." He adjusted his hair in the mirror and repeated, "now, let's go."

"Go where, exactly?" Asked Amber.

"I'll explain on the way." He replied, then he was making some calls sounding all serious.

Amber wondered what the commotion was all about.

The door opened and many faces were standing by now(but at a well distant pace, away from Ajax, as usual), waiting to see what would happen to Amber.

"Sir," Kira was the first to speak. "This rude brat over here just barged into your office at the warning hours!"

Ajax wasn't even waiting as his strides kept getting longer by the second. "It's been settled. Everyone back to work." He said.

Kira smiled at Amber who was hurrying behind Ajax, also keeping a well enough distance.

"See, I told you she would be dealt with." Kira said to Heather.

"What's going on? You look so…worried." Amber asked now that they were away from the crowd.

"The head of the Admin department, Mr. Whales is not…well, he's a criminal." Ajax said.

Amber's eyes widened. "Criminal?"

"Some parts gets missing and with my investigations, Mr. Whales seems to be the mastermind. He's traveling for two weeks even though it wasn't authorized by me. Which means that, he isn't traveling. He's running away."

"Running away? Wait, and I just, caught him for you?" Amber asked.

"He hasn't been caught yet. But I guess so. I have guards blocking his office right now." Ajax said.

"But how can he still come to the office today knowing that he's a criminal. I mean, how are we even sure he's a criminal?"

"He's not traveling, Amber. He's running away. And…I have my answers now." Ajax said, then handed his phone to her.

There was a recording of a man in a storage room ordering other men as they packed out some valuables from the room.

"I'm taking the elevator. You stay here now then join me downstairs." He said, then turned to leave.

"I'm coming with you now." Amber said stubbornly.

"No! Stay here. Nobody takes the elevator with me." And with that, he turned and left.

"Wow. So arrogant." Amber muttered to herself.

"I bet you don't know much about him then, do you?" A voice said to her from behind.
