Chapter 12 - 12. The Interrogation

"Bruce!"

"Call me, Officer Shaw."

"I.."

"Ally Ludwick, I found this in your possession."

Ally's eyes widened at the sight of the sachets of drugs on the table. She stared at him coldly, knowing that he took those drugs from her bra. She felt like a fool for kissing a stranger.

"What do you want?"

"I need you to answer my questions truthfully. I know you are just a pawn in this grand scheme," Raymond said.

"Do not undermine me."

"So you are the mastermind?"

"Mastermind of what?"

"You were caught in possession of drugs and you did spike my drink. For drug possession or 'possession of a controlled substance,' you might need to pay in kind or spend a few months in jail. While spiking drinks is illegal, it might sentence you to up to a decade in prison."

"No!"

"Now my question is, who ordered you to spike me?"

Ally was cornered; she was cracking her head and weighing her options. There was no way he could base his claims on both a witness and evidence; more evidence is needed to claim that she is guilty. She quickly composed herself to salvage the situation.

"I am the one who fell prey to this situation; I had no idea where those drug sachets originated from. As for your drink, I do not know who spiked it. All I know is that I was unconscious after our little romantic encounter."

Then she boldly acclaimed, "Look, Officer Shaw, you want to proceed with this accusation against me after kissing and groping me at the club? You were the one who took advantage of me! How could a grown man like you be a victim in this situation?"

Ally is not backing down that easily. If this method didn't work, she needed someone to be the scapegoat. So far, this officer seems like an easy target.

"Young lady, with the evidence laid in front of you-"

"Look, we had an awesome night. If word goes out that you went around assaulting girls at the club and have the audacity to accuse me just so you can turn the tables on me, it won't look good on you, sir."

"Drug possession is a serious crime and it was from you."

"You cannot prove it. Now release me!"

"Let me offer you proof, then."

Raymond took out the glasses that he drank alcohol from and placed them in front of Ally. Ally looked at the glasses warily.

"Can you tell me what these are?"

"These are the glasses that the bartender served to us."

"Yes, the glasses that the bartender brought over on a tray. Can you guess whose fingerprints I found on these glasses?"

*Speechless*

"You! Your fingerprints and mine. Now why would your fingerprints be there?"

"I just passed the cup to you."

"All of the cups? I only drank one shot. Since all of the glasses have your fingerprints, you spiked my drink!"

"I didn't spike your drink," said Ally, avoiding Raymond's gaze.

"Since you are so stubborn, remember who this is?"

"Seli, I don't know her."

"Oh? My subordinates gathered all the broken bits of her wine bottle, and we found traces of your fingerprints and the drugs among the shards of her wine bottle. Now, why did it have your fingerprints on it? You drugged her too, didn't you?"

"I-"

"And when she was comatose, you were trying to prevent someone from saving her life too? Are you trying to kill her?"

"No, I-"

"She is at the hospital right now, nearly dying; you will be charged with attempted murder. If she dies, you will be charged with first-degree murder."

"You cannot prove anything!"

"I saw you spike her drink, just like you did it to me.

"You saw? But that was before I met you."

"That is right, and I approached you knowing that you were capable of the malicious act. True enough, you spike my drinks as well. The only thing I need to know is why."

*Sobbing*

"That is enough! I want a lawyer!"

"Sure, feel free to find a lawyer; if you can't, let us know and we will get you a public lawyer."

-----------------------------------------------

After Ally left the interrogation room, she was released on the basis of insufficient evidence.

Chief: "It seems like she doesn't admit any of the charges you mentioned, but they are concrete proof."

Raymond: "I have dispatched someone to follow her for a few days. I am sure she will go back to the club and find Selina. I intend for her to make a mistake so that I may catch her red-handed."

Chief: "Good, keep me posted."

Raymond nodded. However, he had this gut-wrenching feeling that things were not as simple as they seemed. He decided to further investigate the Midnight Sun organization and how much Ally is involved in the operation. If she is just a part-timer and was threatened to keep her mouth shut, she might be in great danger. Assigning someone to tail her is not just for the sake of the investigation; it is also for Ally's safety. Now that Albert has revealed to him that his initial partner is the owner of Midnight Sun, Raymond needs to meticulously get to the bottom of this.

-------------------------------------

Ally tried to maintain her composure while she left the precinct. As soon as she exited the premises, she caught a taxi and headed straight to the club. She was anxious to go back and was sure that going back to Midnight Sun was a bad idea. She had no choice but to do it. She recounted the incident last night and just remembered that the officer was with her boss before he approached her.

Therefore, she thought it was someone her boss gave the green light for her to drug. But then she came over and attempted to splash alcohol on her face.

'Was that an act or a warning for me not to disturb the man?' Ally pondered.

She was sure that her boss didn't know he was a cop, and the cop might not know her boss as well, or else he would question her further. The question now was: does she want to tell the boss that the man is actually a detective, undercover to infiltrate Midnight Sun.

Ally needed to play her cards well since the lives of her family members were at stake. She cannot make the same mistake again.

Ally got out of the cab and went straight inside the Midnight Sun entrance. Barricade tape ribbons were spread out across the floor. The whole club was in chaos. She took a look around before making her way towards the hostesses' changing room. As she was heading towards her locker, someone slammed her head into the locker door.

"Long time no see Ally."
