Third Person's POV
The morning came, and Archer woke up in between the twins, who were still sleeping. He caresses the twins hair as he recalls the memories from last night's assassination. He could barely sleep last night and kept waking up whenever he heard tiny noises. Even his entire body is on guard. Archer's eyes wandered. He analyzes each and every detail of the bedroom. It was way too extravagant, even in the most decent bedroom they had back in their castle.
The interior was fully designed, with traces of gold, expensive vases with flowers in them, paintings from infamous painters, and even some grand furniture that he had not seen before. The room also has its own balcony, which is the perfect place for breakfast. It would have been wonderful to have breakfast in such a nice place as this. However, he wouldn't dare to seize those moments, for this is not their place at all.
Everything went so fast after the assassination. The knights, together with the Duke and Queen, saved them just in time from the assassins. And as they were about to follow the Queen's order to go with them, Felipe suddenly had a seizure and burst out of his enormous power. According to the Queen, the twins had finally awakened their powers. Felix possesses the power element of fire, and Felipe possesses the power of water.
Fortunately, the Queen took them into his care. He even provided them with this luxury room, food, and even medicine. The Queen also helped the twins stabilize their power. He even summoned several priests to quickly stop the twins from suffering. Although rumors about the queen were not good, Archer already forgot about them and was very thankful to the queen instead.
However, despite being saved and cared for by the Queen, Archer had been thinking about Lorelai. He tried to tell the Queen that Lorelai was left alone in the castle and beg him to find her. Lucky for him, the queen was compassionate and immediately ordered the knights to find Lorelai, but morning came, and Lorelai was nowhere to be found.
"Where could she be right now?" he asked himself. Suddenly, one of the twins moved, which made him go back to reality.
Felix was the first one to wake up. It was impressive for an eight-year-old kid to withstand the enormous pain of awakening and still get up in the morning without any problem. It was just last night when Felix was crying so much because of the pain of awakening. He keeps throwing tantrums and does not let anyone touch him.
"Archer, is my sister here already?" Felix asked as he rubbed his eyes. Archer was forced to smile. He knew that he couldn't lie so easily to the twins, especially to Felix. He's a quick-witted kid.
"She'll be here soon," he replied, and he went to hug Felix. Archer noticed that Felix's temperature was a bit hotter than usual. It's as if he has a fever, but he heard that a fire user has a higher temperature than a normal human. Archer tried to touch Felipe, and just as he expected, Felipe was a little colder than usual as well.
Archer heard the doors open. He immediately turned to look and saw a few servants entering together with the Queen and the Duke from last night. Archer immediately slid off of the bed. He stood straight and bowed to pay respect to the Queen and to the Duke.
"I greet his majesty, the Queen and the Duke," he greeted.
Queen Atlanta slowly walked his way to him. He grabbed Archer's hand and said, "Please lift your head."
"And be at ease. Focus only on your recovery."
Archer slowly lifted his head. When his eyes met the Queen, he was surprised to see the queen's face up close. There was no doubt why a man like him was the queen of this kingdom, and I absolutely now wonder why the King chose him to be her husband and not just her concubine. It was as if he was facing a beautiful, well-sculpted person.
The queen's hair was long and wavy. The morning sun's rays made her beautiful brown hair shine. Even his emerald eyes were so beautiful that he was lost in them for a moment. Archer tried to stop himself from staring any longer at the Queen's face. If there was some sort of majestic beauty that the kingdom would be proud to show off, it was none other than the Queen. His beauty is one of a kind.
"My deepest gratitude, your majesty."
Queen Atlanta nodded and went to look at the twins on the bed. Luckily, both of the twins were already awake. Staring at the two made Queen Atlanta smile. It has been a while since he saw the other children of the king, and it was even a twin. The queen couldn't help but notice that the twins eyes radiated the golden rays of the sun, and their hair was as dark as a crow's feather. Queen Atlanta knew the first time he laid eyes on the twin that these children were his wife's. Although they don't resemble her that much, the golden-amber eyes and the black hair signify that the two were of royal blood.
What beautiful children! He thought.
Queen Atlanta walked to the bed and carried both of the twins in her arms. Archer, including Duke Carlisle, got startled and immediately volunteered to carry the twins.
"It's fine. These babies are not that heavy."
Felix blushed in embarrassment, while Felipe, who was still sleepy, just went ahead and hugged the Queen. Felix immediately tried to stop Felipe from hugging the queen, but Queen Atlanta only laughed at the adorable twins.
"Well, look at this one. He fell asleep again!"
"Archer, was it?" Queen Atlanta asked as he rocked the twins.
"Yes, your majesty," Archer replied.
"Archer, how old are these twins?"
"They're eight years old, your majesty, and will be turning nine next fall."
"Eight!?" Queen Atlanta was flabbergasted by his answer. He was expecting that these twins would be at least five years old. Looking closely at the twins, he saw they were actually in poor health.
Their overall physique was too small for an eight-year-old kid. He did not realize how poor the management of the kingdom was at providing for the needs of the children. These twins are of royal blood, yet they were treated like poor commoners. Even the peasants he sees on the streets are not as skinny as these two.
The queen let out a deep sigh. If only he had the power to control the management of providing the supplies for the family, it wouldn't have to be like this. But now that he thinks about it, he is the Queen of the kingdom, which means he is the second most powerful ruler of the kingdom. He might as well use it for good and for other people. Whether he likes it or not, he cannot turn a blind eye to this matter.
"Listen everyone. From now on, these twins will be provided with the outmost care. Focus on improving their health and make sure that they are well fed and well dressed," Queen Atlanta ordered.
"And also, provide a separate room for Archer. He will need a day off to recover."
"Yes, our queen." Everyone replied and bowed their heads to the queen. Archer was delighted and quickly bowed his head as well.
"Your majesty!"
"Pardon my intrusion. We found the lady."
Archer jumped in, surprised. He could feel his tears coming out of his eyes in relief. He has been praying for Lorelai to be found, and it was a big relief that his prayer was answered.
Sein Lorelai opened her eyes. She wandered her eyes over her surroundings. She was surprised to find herself in such a large bedroom. It was like she's inside a well-maintained Victorian-era bedroom. This is what a princess's room should look like, not a worn-out bedroom.
Despite the stinging pain in her arms down to her legs, she tried to stand up on her feet. Lorelai doesn't have any idea where she is right now. In fact, the last moment she remembered before passing out was watching Archer run deep inside the forest to chase after the twin.
"Could it be a butterfly effect?" Lorelai asked herself. She knew that the story was starting way too early. She's afraid that fate is catching up to her interference. However, if this was a butterfly effect, she hopes that only time will be affected, and by that, it means that the twins are finally saved and safe in the palace of the queen.
"I hope Archer was saved as well."
Lorelai has been thinking about it since the start of the assassination. Archer was not mentioned in the story, which means Archer was either killed in the assassination or was able to escape but couldn't get a chance to be with the twins anymore. She also knew that Archer was suspicious of her now. She can't blame him because she knew that her behavior was absolutely suspicious and terrible. Who in the world would let their siblings get kidnapped and then ordered someone else to chase after them?
"Hey Felix! Catch the ball!"
Lorelai was surprised to hear the familiar voice. She immediately went to check it out on the balcony of the room. As soon as she got there, Lorelai was shocked to see the twins playing.
"Felix? Felipe?"
"Wait, where the heck am I?"
"You're in my palace. You are finally awake, my daughter."
