Chapter 3 - The Impending Death II

"Wait, what?"

"Remember when we used to play hide and seek with our father? Go there and hide, don't go out unless I say so."

Thanks to the memories that flashed back a while ago, some of them are quite useful in this situation. I can't let the twins witness something horrendous. I don't want them to awaken due to traumatic incidents. They're innocent and special. Both of them deserve to awaken in the most natural way possible. They are already in a pitiful state; to be more precise, the twins' growth is being suppressed by a curse, which causes them a lot of pain. The only way to break the curse is for them to awaken. The twins are already eight years old, but their physique is like that of a five-year-old child.

"What!? What about you, sister Sein? We can't just leave you alone!"

As soon as my name was mentioned, a red glimpse of light in the main character's eyes appeared. I can feel the killing intent in her gaze, the anguish and hunger to end me. This is how powerful and evil the Victorians are, they turn commoners and slaves into savage monsters. This world doesn't have any humanity at all despite being a religious world.

She charged at me with her sharp claws, like a rabid beast. Is this truly the main character of this noble? The Victorians are too much. Turning people who are much lower than them into slaves is already awful, but turning them into monsters like this. I'm speechless.

I grabbed the sword tightly using both of my hands and positioned it horizontally to block her sharp claws. I haven't even started counting yet I am already at a tight spot. I guess really don't have time to count now, do I? After blocking her with my sword, I kicked her hips as hard as I could, making her wince in pain. Living a tough life requires a tough strength. Thanks to my thug life, I can at least fight back.

"Get out now! Go!"

Before she could recover from the pain, I quickly went at her back and locked her right arm as I aimed the sword horizontally at her neck. As she keeps her head up to avoid the sharp blade of my sword, wincing in pain, she tries to attack me using her other arm. Fortunately, it wasn't able to reach me as I was almost climbing on her back. This made her other arm lock more and perhaps, it was starting to injure her internally.

As she loudly screams in pain, my voice loudly shouts at the three as well. I know they don't want to leave me alone with this monster. However, they don't have a choice but to follow what I said or else we'll all be in trouble.

"Go now! Run and hide! Don't worry about me, I'll come after you!" I shouted.

Despite the fear and hesitation in their faces, they followed along. They glanced at me once again, and I quickly smiled at them to give them the slightest assurance. I actually don't know if I can truly win against her. I may have experiences in fighting, but this is a reality, not a game with rules that will protect my life.

As soon as the three of them were out of the room, I counted for ten seconds to buy them time to run far away from this place, but the longer I held this position, the weaker I got. And suddenly, blood splattered onto my face and an unbearable stinging pain in my upper elbow went down to my spine. I couldn't help but scream in pain as I let her go.

I have no strength left with me and I can't focus onto the situation due to the pain. My eyes are starting to get blurry and I can smell a strong scent of my blood. I am about to be devoured.

Dammit, I should have told to them to ask for hel—

"AHHHH!"

The pain was getting more intense. It's as if both of my arms were being skinned alive. I want to lie down and just cry this pain out, but the monster in front of me is quite smart. It looks like she knew she had the chance to attack while I am getting distracted by this pain. Not a chance, idiot. I was trained by my hard ass life back in my world to endure, fight and survive. If I didn't have a high pain tolerance both mentally and physically, I might as well just be insane and die in pain.

Despite the intense pain, I tried to reach out for my sword in the floor. As it growls at me like true beast, my will to live was getting stronger. I know that at least in this new life I can physically fight without getting worried about me getting sick. I can tell that this is a healthy body.

Before she could even attack me once again, the pain from my wound suddenly disappeared and gained an enormous strength back. I can feel the energy in both of my arms. I instantly stood up and glanced at my wound. The bleeding stop and I can feel my arms getting numb. And apart from the numbness, I can feel another unfamiliar sensation lingering in my shoulders down to my spine. From the light passing through the window, my skin reflected the light like how a metal would reflect.

Metal? What is happening to me?

In a split second, my entire arms slowly transformed into a full metal armor. My eyes widened in amusement as it completely covered and transformed my arms. The weight of my arms was still the same. In fact, it was much lighter than before. I glanced at her. If my arms did truly become an armor, then I don't have to be afraid from getting gouge. It's a relief. I at least can sense a victory between me and her in this fight.

With both of us charging at each other, only one of us can win, and lose. However, I'll make sure that none of us will die tonight. I won't let this opportunity to live my second life go to waste again. And this time, I'll make sure that I will live longer with my new family.
